e thank and praise God for His refreshing grace, rejuvenating mercy, revitalizing power, and restoring love amidst the exhausting summer heat. With His enabling might, we can overcome the challenges brought by the Dry Season that we are experiencing ecologically. God’s armor is likewise our needed weapon in winning over spiritual dryness. Hence, we, Christians, should always seek to be revived and recharged, while we are strengthened to be ready to demonstrate our biblical discipleship testimony for the evangelism of sinners, edification of saints, and exaltation of the Saviour. We are privileged to be a part of this Church that always strives to do God’s will whatever the season is. Of course, such can never happen without your full support and complete cooperation as faithful members. As your Pastor, I am really inspired and encouraged to share the spiritual blessings DR. ED M. LAURENA that God is pouring to our Church with other churches that acknowledge our influence and example as far as our devotion to the Lord and our commitment to His Great Commission are concerned. With eagerness and gratefulness, I testified about God’s gracious, good, glorious and grand work in our Church when He allowed me to preach in Northside Bible Baptist Church in Laoag, Ilocos Norte during their Pastors and Workers’ Conference. Furthermore, this week’s report of successful Daily Vacation Bible School is truly a blessing. I commend you to the Lord for your involvement. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (I Corinthians 15:58). Let us then continue keeping up the good work for God’s honor and glory!!!

HARLES SPURGEON has said, "God is to be praised with the voice, and the heart should go therewith in holy exultation." We then must...

1. Praise God in our hearts on a daily (if not hourly) basis to be reminded continually of the great things He has done for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. The book of Psalms is an excellent example of King David's fervent worship to the One he was so thankful for. Praising God has been misunderstood as something that arises from a “feeling” which "comes upon you," but it is vital that we understand that it is rooted in a conscious act of the will, to serve and obey the Lord Jesus Christ. 2. "Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Jesus also gave us an example of how we should pray. He said “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” In prayer, it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. 3. Pursue study and meditation of God's Word as they are extremely important to the development of character and spirit. It is essential that we take the time out of our busy schedules and develop a meaningful fellowship in the Word with our heavenly Father.

Man,” “Jesus Prayed for the Bread and the Fish,”

“Mary Loves the Word of God,” “Andrew and Philip Brought People to Christ,” at “Jesus Stayed in the Temple.” Ang tema ngayong taong “Growing in Christ” ay hango sa 2 Peter 3:18 ng King James Bible, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

Honoring Moms "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth." Psalms 127:3-4 "The love of a mother is never exhausted. It never changes-it never tires-it endures through all; in good repute, in bad repute, in the face of the world's condemnation, a mother's love still lives on."-Washington Irving

A

SCHOOL TEACHER GAVE her class of second-graders a lesson on magnets and how they have the ability to pick objects up off the ground. The next day the teacher gave her kids a pop quiz. She said, "My name has six letters and I pick up things. What am I?" When the test papers were turned in, the teacher was surprised to find that almost half of her students answered the question not with the word magnet but with the word "mother." The kids naturally concluded that mother's pick up things not magnets.

ONLY ONE MOTHER Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky, Hundreds of shells on the shore together, Hundreds of birds that go singing by, Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather. Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, Hundreds of bees in the purple clover, Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, But only one mother the world wide over.

Mothers today are often misunderstood for someone who cooks, cleans, and takes care of the children. But a mother is a much more vital part of the family. In fact, mothers are one of the most influential people on earth! From the time children are born, they are constantly connected to their mother. They depend on their mother for food and water. They look to their mother when they are frightened or are in need. Children are dependent upon their mother for physical and emotional provisions. Think about the fact that God ordained the home for a purpose. He had a plan for each member of the family, and God has ordained the mother to be significant in the lives of her children. Today we honor mothers and thank them for their hard work. The Bible says in Proverbs 31:10, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." The Bible honors mothers and lifts them up to be respected and honored. While the father many times supports the family financially, the mother often supports her family emotionally. Think back to when you were a child. Do you remember all that your mother did for you? Remember the time she made your favorite meal, or the time she cleaned off your cut when you fell off your bike, or maybe when she cheered you on at your sports game, or perhaps the time she stayed up late helping you with a school project. It has been said that a mother spends an average of 92 hours a week doing everything from being a taxi driver to being a chef! Your mother has worked hard and sacrificed a lot for you over the years. How have you honored your mom today? Take time now to let her know you love her. Call your mom if possible, write her a note, send her some flowers, or do something to let her know that you love her and that you respect and honor her today.

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

Young at Hearts

A

"Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof." - Genesis 19:8

Making the Family Your First Ministry

L

OT ESTEEMED THE persons of his guests as sacred, and was willing to protect them at all costs. But in this proposal he did very wrong, and showed the weakness of his faith in God. He was willing to do anything for his guests even at the expense of his own family. Although, perhaps at the back of his mind, the Sodomites being homosexuals would not take his daughters, it was still an unwise move to offer for prey his children. By this, we can see how Lot ran his family. At first, he was allured by the beautiful sight of Sodom when his uncle Abraham made him choose in Genesis 13:10-11. Then, his willingness to offer his daughters for the sake of his guests; yes, there had been too moral evils he was facing, but he should have chosen neither giving up his angel guests nor his two precious children. He lacked faith in this. Consequently, his two daughters had gone under the same situation of choosing moral evil when they slept with their father due to fear of being unpreserved, Genesis 19:32. Of course, we do not want this same thing to happen in our own family circle. That is how important proper discipleship is! Making the family our first priority is easier said than done. Each must take time, i.e., quality time for fellowship, discipline, counseling and even sharing jokes and hobbies together. Parents must be an example in giving time for celebrating special occasions and even attending to needful situations. A constant talk is also an ingredient to keep a good relationship within the home. Generally, Biblical training must be felt by the children being executed by both father and mother. Let Jesus, being the Foundation of one belief and practice, not just be the unseen guest, but the Leader in the home. It is God that builds the home, as Psalm 127 explains.

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

I

THANK GOD FOR the life and family He has given me. I received Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord on February 10, 1994, and I was baptized on March 10 of the same year. With God’s grace, I was drawn nearer to the Lord and I have learned to live by faith through His Word. It was in the year 2007 when I decided to join the ushering ministry of our Church, which God used to develop my heart to be humble, and to become more responsible. Last January, 2013, I resigned from my job as a medical representative, so I can spend more time in the service of the King. In May of 2013, God, through our Pastor, placed me as the area leader of Area 6. Such was a great privilege for me as I acknowledged my incapacity, and praised God for strengthening me, for meeting my desire as I longed for Him, and for instructing me so I could do His will effectively. I am now happy serving the Lord through Area 4, while being enabled and guided by the Holy Spirit to help minister to other brethren. Together with our fellow area members, we have truly enjoyed gathering and teaching children through the Daily Vacation Bible School. I am grateful to God for our Pastor, and to all our mentors who are leading us to be righteous servants of the Lord through His power and for His glory.

“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”- Luke 8:17 ; “..and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” - Matthew 6:4

T

HE TRUE TEST OF a person's character is not what he does with an audience but what he is when no one is looking. Most people concoct elaborate acts and schemes to appear what they do not really are for the purpose of drawing or impressing a crowd. However, it is virtually impossible to pretend in front of an All-knowing God, Psalm 90:8 attests “Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.” It has been said that “The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ would take the slums out of people, and then they would take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature.” While it is true that the world is after our corruption, the influence of the Lord through His Word first exhibited in our private solitary moments has created a godly impact that is manifested outwardly in public. The seeing eye and the hearing ear of those who we come across with everyday are observers of either our genuineness or hypocrisy, “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad” ( Luke 8:17). A fundamental principle to consider is found in the Book of Matthew 6:6, 18 "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly...That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." When we reason from Scripture, we are able to see a principle here that can be applied both positively and negatively. What we do in secret, God will either reward or reprove openly. If we pray and fast as unto the LORD, we are rewarded. So, it stands to reason that if we sin in secret, we shall also be “reproved” openly for that action. In any case, God sees and knows about sin, whether private or public, and He does not let sin go unpunished.

In the account leading to 2 Samuel 12:12, when the mighty and almost invincible King David committed a secret sin that even he himself denied as being a wicked deed, the Lord said “For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before Israel, and before the sun.” Nothing is ever hidden and ignored in God's sight. There would be times, in our finite and futile minds, that we are not even aware of our sins, that is why it is important to ask the Lord to “...cleanse thou me from secret faults” (Psalm 19:12). We cannot “plant” sin—even in private—and not expect to reap a harvest of consequences, which have a way of spilling out over everyone and anyone that comes into contact with us because of another principle called "association." This means that those around us can be blessed or hurt by association with us and the choices and actions we make, both privately and publicly. The greatest consequence of private, personal sin is to our own mortal soul. Ezekiel 18:4 says that the soul that sins shall die, and Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. This speaks of a person who is a natural, habitual sinner without the benefit of newness of life. For the born-again child of God—one who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour—there is a standard of conduct, both in private and in public: "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31). We born-again children of God have a desire to live to glorify God, and even though there are times when we can and do fail, God has made provision for us to be in fellowship with Him. He has promised that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Our private testimonies seen by God are our solace and refuge, a opportunity to draw strength to enable us to face a battle for God's victory as Psalm 27:5 affirms “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” Our private testimonies are a revelation as Proverbs 3:32 attests “...but his secret is with the righteous.” Our private testimonies are a reinforcement and deepening of the roots as 1 Peter 3:4 assures “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” Let us guard our private testimonies and avoid a life of duplicity.
