from your Pastor With God reaching toward us, offering to us eternal relationship with Him along His gift of everlasting life, we are indeed blessed, and truly privileged. Let us then show our gratitude to the Lord and our appreciation to His loving gesture by our constant perseverance to have time and to make a way to meet with Him gladly through our prayer, supplication, and fellowship with Him. We are commanded, charged and challenged by the Bible to “Pray without ceasing” (I Thess. 5:17). The Lord Himself has these words of invitation for us: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jer. 33:3). We then must keep on drawing closer to God, seeking for His wisdom, relying on His strength, and delighting in His love. Such is what we ought to do as we face a new week full of responsibilities; bearing in mind that by God’s grace, we should never let a day pass without achieving something for God, or without allowing God to accomplish something in our lives. This coming June 12, DR. ED M. LAURENA our Independence Day, let us joyfully declare our freedom in Christ by leading someone to the Lord for his/her genuine spiritual liberation from the wages of sins and penalty of hell. We are all enjoined to support our scheduled Area Soulwinning Day, to continue involving in all our church activities, and to participate in our programs and projects for building lives, winning souls, and exalting Christ. Meanwhile, I ask for your prayer while I attend the Spiritual Leadership Conference at Dr. Paul Chappell’s church in Lancaster Baptist Church in California, USA. Please pray specifically for my preaching engagement on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in the States (Wednesday, 11:00 PM in the Philippines), that God will use me to help my fellow participants and co-laborers in the Lord’s work. I greet you all a very glorious Sunday, and a triumphant week ahead, through the Lord’s guidance, goodness, and generosity!!!

Children’s Sunday School Recognition and Promotion 2014 Delightfully Held
A
NTICIPATING TODAY’S PROMOTION of students to their new Sunday School Classes, a Recognition Program was held last Sunday for the Children’s Department with the Theme “As the Twig is Bent” adapted from the Scriptural passage in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go.” This is part of the yearly closing program for the divided Sunday School classes where the students are recognized and awarded for exemplary performance and abilities exhibited in relation to the activities and program in their classes. This is also a way to send them off gracefully and to welcome them gladly to their new respective classes. Deserving students from Age 3 until Grade 6 level were acknowledged and given Scripture Memory and Character Awards in their morning classes which then culminated in the awarding of the ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Most Outstanding’ award in the afternoon program. The congregation was held captive by the kids’
special numbers and heart-rending video presentation that challenged believers to minister biblically, with truth and compassion to the precious youths of this generation. Inspiring testimonies were also given by Mrs. Liza Alivia, Ms. Amihan Cocjin, and Mr. Nards Lacsina, to evidence the value of triumvirate learning in the home, the school, and the church. Likewise, outstanding students from the grade six classes, namely, Ms. Gladys Platon and Mr. Aldren Aranas testified about God’s blessings in their lives, especially in attending Sunday School. The 91 outgoing students from the grade six level were recognized and presented to the ‘Young People and Adults Sunday School’ department. They were given a charge to choose continually to cleave to the Lord and be faithful to the Biblical precepts upon which they have been established since their stay in the Children’s Department. May the Lord be gracious to us as we aim for the preservation of a Godly generation.

M

ULFILLING ITS PORTION as the educational ministry arm of our Church, the Christian Bible Baptist Academy (CBBA) opens its 29th Academic Year 2014-15 by way of a Parent-Teacher’s Fellowship (PTF) last June 3, Tuesday at the CBBA Learning Center Hall. Attended by cooperative and involved parents, said PTF aimed to foster genuine life-building relationship between the teachers and the parents. Pastor Ed gave a strong challenge to the parents and guardians to be effective partners of the school in training up their children for the next generation of a godly culture. The meeting was capped off by the
signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the School and the respective parents. In line with that, an Orientation for the students was held last June 6, Friday. The activity was to remind and review to them the class schedules, supplies’ requirements, as well as the rules and regulations for them to be prepared for their classes which will start on June 9. Let us pray for a good turnout of academic and character performance for the enrolled students this Academic Year.
Ministry in Grade 2 Sunday School Class
K
THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP
I
PRAISE AND THANK GOD that I was raised in a Christian family. My mother got saved and was converted through CBBC, San Pedro, Laguna in 1992. Since then, she brought us, her children, in this church. Then in October, 1995, I got saved, too. My Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Marlyn Añora witnessed to me when I was 5 years old. When I became a student of Christian Bible Baptist Academy, I was encouraged to join our area soulwinning by my teacher, Ma'am Nenia. Soulwinning became my first ministry in this church, while I was filled with excitement and curiosity to learn more about Christianity. Then in 1996, I was dealt with by my Academy teacher, Ma'am Marie to follow Christ in the water of baptism, and so I did. Few years later, I saw my mother involving in the Sunday School in our children's department; and that led me to have a burden for children. With my Sunday school teachers’ example of diligence and dedication, I was guided to choose to be in the teaching ministry, even though I was aware that I did not have yet knowledge and experience. Knowing of my desire to learn how to teach, Ma'am Edna, started to teach me, so she first brought me to a rice field in Biñan, where we gathered children under a tree and taught them about Christ. By God’s grace, I am now a fulltime church staff member, teaching our Junior High school boys, leading our Baptist Youth Campus Ministry, and serving as an area leader in Area 19. I am glad that God is always allowing me to grow in His will; so even until now, I am still aspiring to do more. All of these have been accomplished by the wonderful grace of our God in the lives of those people who once discipled a child that will be used of Him someday. To God be the glory!!!

Rightly Directed Lives “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” - Jeremiah 3:15
O
LIVER WENDELL HOLMES, acclaimed as one of the best writers in the 17th century has once said, “The greater thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are going.” There would be countless times in our lives where making decisions in the right will seem tricky, one in which the other seems to outweigh more liabilities than benefits. Based on Proverbs 3:5-6, the consistent pattern is that if we are faithful to provide the motion, God is faithful to provide direction. In God’s infinite wisdom, He assures us in Jeremiah 3:15, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding;” and in Ephesians 4:11, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.” The relationship between our pastor and this church, CBBC, is a very special relationship. It is a relationship forged through 36 blessed years of ministry. We have seen Pastor Ed minister to us and the church members in times of joyful victories and in times of grievous failures. Through these years and moments of highs and lows, the foundation for a deep relationship was formed and consequently the relationship between a pastor and congregation grows and changes. As we, members of the church family, get to know and trust our Pastor, we would have a growing confidence in his leadership. He, in God’s leading and power, has earned the right to lead our individual lives through God’s life-changing precious Word. As church members, we have to acknowledge that the pastor is over us in the Lord. When we honour and submit to him, we are not merely sub-
mitting to a man; we are correspondingly submitting to the Lord and Chief Shepherd of the church. We thank the Lord that He put us in a spiritually healthy church that is led by a Godcalled man. We then must submit to his God-given authority. We must carefully guard our spirit so that we will not become embittered in times of trials and discouragements. We must examine ourselves before the Lord and make sure that we are not rebellious toward a genuine God-given authority. Sometimes we think the problem is with those who have the rule over us when in reality it is with our own stubborn hearts. Let us hear the Bible: “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, AS THEY THAT MUST GIVE ACCOUNT, THAT THEY MAY DO IT WITH JOY, AND NOT WITH GRIEF: FOR THAT IS UNPROFITABLE FOR YOU” (Heb. 13:17). The pastor will give account to the Lord for their ministries in the church, and we as church members will also give account. To be a cause for a God-called pastor to be grieved by our carnal stubbornness, unfaithfulness, and disobedience will be unprofitable for us at the judgment seat of Christ. It is so easy to criticize the pastor and the church, but it is very needful to ask, “What am I doing to make the church successful and fruitful for the Lord’s glory?” We then should also ask, “If the whole church were like me, what would the church be like?” Some people may criticize everything but in essence they do not add anything of significance to this God-established and God-ordained institution. We must always strive to live rightly directed lives and be constructive for the work of the Lord.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
