God is so wise that He did not leave us clueless as to how we should live our lives after we got saved. Since there is more to battle and enjoy as a child of God, He gave us His Word so we can study it personally. He likewise placed us in His church to help us grow through godly fellowship and Bible-based preaching. A humble heart is very essential in gaining more wisdom in learning how to live in prayer, with prudence and with patience. Since we are honoring all fathers today, may I also remind all fathers that Satan is so deceitful that he wants your family to learn more of this world and its lifestyle than to study God’s Word. You were given a great leadership role that you can successfully fulfill by God’s help. He will definitely honor your firm stand to do what is right and to lead your family closer to Him. Don’t hesitate to choose God’s will and declare what Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” May we have a blessed Sunday as we honor all Fathers today. Happy Fathers’ day!

from your Pastor

T

here was a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart. Practice after practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the other boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games, this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever played. This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special relationship. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high school. But his father continued to encourage him and also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice or a game but remained a bench-warmer all four years. His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-on." Everyone was sure he would never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always put his heart and soul into every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His dad shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in a game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man

read the telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?" The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday." Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon. "Coach, please let me play. I've just GOT to play today," said the young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said. "You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players, and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before, was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, blocked, and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders while the crowd cheered. Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?" He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could SEE me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

When father prays he doesn't use The words the preacher does. They're different things for different days But mostly it's for us.

You'd never think to look at Dad He once had tempers, too I guess if father needs to pray We youngsters surely do.

When father prays the house is still His voice is low and deep. We shut our eyes; the clock ticks loud So quiet we must keep.

Sometimes the prayer gets very long And hard to understand. And then I wiggle up quiet close, And let him hold my hand.

He prays that we may be good boys. And later on good men; And then we squirm and think we won't Have any quarrels again.

I can't remember all of it. I'm little yer, you see. But one thing I cannot forget My father prays for me.

BYF Held Outdoor Fellowship

The Baptist Youth Fundamentalists celebrated Independence Day through an outdoor fellowship last June 12. The day started with a morning devotion by Preacher Julius Marcos, our preacher in Jhongli, Taiwan. In his message entitled, “I am not Crazy, I am not Mad, I am Saved,” he asserted that true freedom only comes through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Likewise, he encouraged young people to use their “liberty” for the glory of God like what Apostle Paul did. Around 150-200 Baptist youth rallied from CBBC Compound to Las Villas clubhouse passing out Gospel tracts in the streets. The main challenge was given by Rev. Meljun Laurena from Ecclesiates 7:5, reminding the youth to be willing to be rebuked by godly mentors. The day was filled with sports, group challenges and fellowship. Best of all was the camaraderie along teamwork during lunch time – the boodle fight. Truly, the event made the participants more thankful while praising God for the freedom and liberty He has given to them.

Working Single Ladies Enjoyed Their Independence Day Retreat Aspiring for a joyful fellowship to reinforce godly camaraderie in the midst of hustle and bustle of their individual work lives, the Working Single Ladies Department of our Sunday School took advantage of the Independence Day holiday to retreat to a quaint mini-rainforest resort in Alasas, Alfonso Cavite. Situated just after Tagaytay City, the venue, Tadena Farm, offered the muchneeded breathtaking and refreshing air and scenery of rich foliage and outdoor swimming pool. The ladies, together with their teachers in-charge, Ma’am Liza Alivia and Ma’am Beata Agustin, enjoyed their bonding moments through dynamic group games of "Synchronized Swimming," "Radioactive," and "Bible Cranium." Moreover, they delighted themselves together in exploring the tropical farm, taking an invigorating swim, feasting on their packed meals and snacks, and having amiable discussions. Meanwhile, through a spirited devotion, Ma’am Edgie Mendoza exhorted the ladies to be ministers, teachers, and examples of good works that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things, as expressed in Titus 2:10.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
