Pastor
Having God as our wisdom-Source and His Word as our wisdom-manual, we as His children are set toward, sealed around, and secured within wisdom-fruitfulness. Wisely said, we are geared for victory because of God’s wisdom, which is readily accessible. All we need to do as God’s people is to seek and ask the Lord for it. James 1:5 states that “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbaideth not; and it shall be given him.” Since God Himself has promised to us the granting of His wisdom, we have ourselves to blame if we do not have it, if we fail because of our lack of it, and if we are fruitless due to our inability to apply it. We thank God for making His wisdom available for us through His Word. We must then read it and listen to it preached and taught. We should treasure God’s wisdom since it is precious and priceless. Thus, we have to prioritize seizing all God-given opportunities to get wisdom, by grabbing every privilege to study, hear, and learn from the Bible. We praise God that by the grace and power of the Lord, our Church always preaches and teaches the Scriptures, and is constantly using the Book of the Law as God’s Precepts and Statutes for its doctrine and practice. Thus, we are so blessed to be exposed
to godly wisdom in our church pursuits, especially in praying, winning souls, baptizing converts, discipling members, sending missions, improving our church building, and worshipping the Lord for His honor and glory. Today is Father’s Sunday. I greet every Dad, Papa, Tatay or Itay with joy and commendation for his responsible roles in his family and his notable contributions to the church and to his work place. It is my prayer that with the authority bestowed upon you by the Sovereign Father, you will fulfill your functions well, as you bring your family closer to the Lord. Moreover, let us always depend on God and His wisdom to be assured of good success and to be ensured of His faithful counsel. With His guidance, we can accomplish His will in our lives as we present ourselves to Him a living sacrifice. With His leadership in our church, we can be a godly influence to the community as we do our part in advancing His kingdom. Together, we offer to God our praises of exaltation and thanksgiving, with each believer coming to the Lord with this sincere prayer: “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me” (Psalm 119:133).

CBBA Parents' Orientation Successfully Conducted In line with the school opening for the Christian Bible Baptist Academy’s Academic Year 2015-16, a Parents' Orientation was dutifully conducted last Friday night, June 12, at the CBBA Learning Center. Delightfully welcoming the attending parents/ guardians of the new and the returning students, our beloved Pastor-Principal Dr. Ed Laurena, who just arrived from a series of preaching engagements and ministry-appointments in America, gave a blessed exhortation. Anchored on the Scriptural passage from John 5:17 and Philippians 1:27, he discussed the vital key of educating our children in their respective home, the church
(CBBC), and the school (CBBA). He blessedly reminded the parents to take part in the practice of a firm responsibility with the child's spirituality. Likewise, the new volunteer teachers were introduced. Ma'am Delia Laurena, the Assistant to the Principal, reviewed and emphasised the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the goals of the Academe, and the Biblical responsibilities of our Christianity to this generation and the next. There was then signing of MOA with the acknowledgement of compliance. Let us pray for a yielded and cooperative spirit in our Church-School family for another great academic year for God’s honor and glory.

The Story of Father’s Day Father's Day, contrary to popular misconception, was not established as a holiday in order to help greeting card manufacturers sell more cards. In fact, when a "father's day" was first proposed there were no Father's Day cards! Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in various towns and cities across America, other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Finally, in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential 04
proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. Father's Day has become a day to not only honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends are all to be honored on Father's Day.

Natutulog na Pananampalataya
And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. Listen Up!
“The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” – Isaiah 50:4 The popularity of Social Media is evidently a proclamation that we are a people needing to be heard always. However, this does not necessarily translate an equal passion for being on the other end of the line-wanting to listen. According to the International Listening Association, more than 35 studies indicate that listening is a primary skill needed for success in all aspect of life and business, yet less than 2 percent of the population surveyed exhibit a desire to improve listening skills. LISTENING IS LOVING. The Lord sincerely demonstrated learning about people’s concerns, values, and spiritual condition. After resurrecting from the dead, Jesus approached two men walking along the road to Emmaus and asked them in Luke 24:17-20, “... What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?” The Lord knew how to ask informative questions that allowed Him to find out what was really important to people. If you want to be a good listener, learn to ask the what, why, when, where and how- type questions that allow people to explain things from their own level of understanding. Jesus was willing to listen to understand another person’s perspective. It is when people really listen to us, with quiet, intent attention, that we feel loved and valued in some way. Similarly, hearing and listening to God’s Word is
proving our love for Him. LISTENING IS LEADING. King Rehoboam in 1 Kings 12:16 was told of his people, “So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? Neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.” We should all know this--listening and not talking is the gifted and great role for leading and guiding people to understanding. Likewise, we must learn that the true listener is much more beloved and more influential than the one leading the talking. He is more effective, learns more and does more good. Try listening to your wife, your husband, your father, your mother, your children, your friends, those who love you and those who don't, those who bore you, those who
hurt you and are your enemies. It will work a wonderfully blessed miracle. It is when you truly listen that you can lead them to God. The relationship has been bonded by a communication secured by truly and sincerely listening to them. Most importantly, listening to God’s Word is the only way we can lead others to Him. Truth be told, the kind of hearing and listening that we do in this day and age is one borne of selfishness. Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply, to prove their point and set things in their own agenda. Tragically, we even do this on God’s Word. We hear and listen but not for the intent of understanding and gaining wisdom but to justify ourselves. May we always be found listening…to love and lead others as Jesus, our dear Saviour and great Creator had done.
Summer DRAFTS Recital Gloriously Held On its 4th year, DRAFTS remains zealous in its acrostic meaning of Developing Rendered Abilities For The Saviour. Opening the new Sunday Afternoon presentors and presentations, the 29 Summer DRAFTS students rendered a resounding 30-minute musical recital last June 14. With its vital aim of a sound training for those who want to involve in CBBC’s music ministry, the said endeavour was pursued by 12 willing teachers who laboured for the mastery in the skill level of the recitalists consisting of 17 violinists, 8 pianists, and 4 guitarists under the supervision of Ma’am Mishael L. Sibug as Music Director. Let us continue to uphold this ministry work in prayer to keep making God-honoring music. 06
