from your Pastor It is really a blessing to belong to a church that is strengthened, sanctified, and secured by the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ along His promise of “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). It is also a joy to be a part of a church whose members love each other with God’s compassion and whose worshippers edify one another with the Lord’s Word. We praise and thank God that He has placed us in His church, the CBBC, for our spiritual growth and faithful service. In this regard, let us not take for granted the eternityvalued privileges that God is offering us, which we can divinely enjoy when we involve in His church’s programs and activities. We must, instead, grab every opportunity to do His will though the church, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25), but working in unity as a church family to exalt the Saviour, evangelize the sinners, and edify the saints. As your Pastor, I am really grateful to the Lord for enabling me to lead His church by using me to oversee you. I am both humbled and DR. ED M. LAURENA honored to be entrusted with the responsibility “to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood” (Acts 20:28). Moreover, I appreciate your love for the Lord and His church, for His work and ministries, for me, my family, and the brethren, which are shown in your attendance, contribution, support, and prayer. Your faithfulness to the Lord is a great encouragement to me, and that I testify of whenever I preach in other churches. Continue with God’s guidance and mercy even in my absence; as I also persevere to minister to fellow believers here in America with God’s help and wisdom. Again, I need your prayers for my soulwinning, witnessing and preaching endeavors, especially this Sunday that I will be in Harvest Baptist Church under Pastor Win Pechardo and Heritage Baptist Church under Pastor Allan Fong. Indeed, God is always good to us and to our church. We then should strive to do our best for His glory by His grace. “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).

Sunday School Outline DECISION TO WATCH MY BROTHER IN CHRIST IN BROTHERLY LOVE Romans 12:10 / Galatians 6:10 / 1Thessalonians 4:9 / Hebrews 13:1

I. To decide to watch over one another in brotherly love is to take care of each other. A. Believers in Christ have only one heavenly Father to look up to. B. Believers in Christ have only one heavenly fold to lay rest to. C. Believers in Christ have only one heavenly function to live for. II. To decide to watch over one another in brotherly love is to treat compassionately each other. A. Treating compassionately the brethren is the instruction of the Lord. B. Treating compassionately the brethren is the inward position of the heart. C. Treating compassionately the brethren is the imputation of God’s grace. III. To decide to watch over one another in brotherly love is to tread continuously on the path of God’s love. A. To tread continuously on the path of God’s love is a tremendous work to accomplish. B. To tread continuously on the path of God’s love is a transforming walk to achieve. C. To tread continuously on the path of God’s love is a triumphing willpower to attain.

The City of Brotherly Love "Let brotherly love continue." - Hebrews 13:1

W

HEN WILLIAM PENN first founded Philadelphia, a city in Pennsylvania, he welcomed all different religions in. This was one of the first places in the world where a bunch of different types of people could peacefully interact with each other, and so it was nicknamed the 'City of Brotherly Love.' He envisioned the area as a place where anyone of any color or background could live together in peace and harmony. Hence, taking it from the city’s name origin: “philos” which means love, and “adelphos” which pertains to brother. However, the world’s aspiration for peace and love cannot be made genuine if brotherly love would not be perceived as that special and spiritual affection which ought to exist among the children of God. It is more than the usual blood relation of people with common parental traces. The Hebrews were addressed to keep this kind of love which was in danger of being lost especially in that time of persecution. Disputes about religion too often produce a decay of Christian affection; but this must be guarded against, and all proper means used to preserve brotherly love. We, then, as a church should always love and live as brethren, and the more we grow in devout affection to God our heavenly Father, the more we will grow in love to one another for His sake. We can all attest to this as we continually find the essence of edifying the saints and unifying in faith only in the Church of the living God. Consequently, the church becomes a more conducive place where discipleship can be promoted and emphasized; hence, this is a real city of brotherly love.

ARAW NG MGA AMA, MASAYANG IPINAGDIWANG

S

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A

DEPARTMENT ADDED NEW CLASSES

HE COLLEGE DEPARTMENT made a remarkable move in effectively making disciples by dividing each class into two, which are the Junior College Class of freshmen and sophomores and the Senior College Class of third year and fourth year students. Handling the new Junior College Classes are Bro. Gideon Cocjin and Sis. Judie Grace Cabungcal, for men and ladies, respectively. The Senior Classes remain to be administered by Sir Pops Villarosa and Ma’am Karen Paraoan. With the thrust of reaching more closely the thirsty souls of these active individuals, the teachers have crafted and lined up various activities to be carried out the whole year round. Surely, with these endeavors for today’s generation, prayers are needed to sustain the fire burning in the hearts of both the disciples and the teachers, so that no strength shall be made waste, and all of it will be for God’s glory!

Ministry in Grade 3 Sunday School Class

S

IXTY TO SEVENTY KIDS from ages 8 to 9 gather at the upper loft of the Old Building Second floor every Sunday morning. These are the children from the third grade. The line-up of their program of activities may not vary from the other classes but surely this department makes a difference in the execution, such that when it is time for Bible lesson, boys and girls are divided into 4 groups whose names are after the four (4) gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Headed by Bro. Mark Joseph Flores, four other teachers lead the smaller crowds of 15-17 students per group. Such wisdom is to assure that every child is assisted in the development of his or her social, emotional and spiritual aspects. Meanwhile, as the children strive for maturity like their Ate’s and Kuya’s in the Junior church, every year, the Juniors’ Camp continues to excite them as it becomes invitational to this age. It gives them the thrill to be really faithful in church attendance and remain enthusiastic in learning the WORD OF GOD.

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:13

T

HERE IS STRENGTH IN UNITY. It has been said well before that “By union the smallest states thrive. By discord the greatest are destroyed.” The unity, or agreement discussed in the Book of Ephesians was created by the Holy Spirit indwelling the believers of the seven cities God has bound together through the Church. It is presenting to us God’s plan before the foundation of the world to the time of our glorious heavenly hope. It shows how He is presently working that plan out, reveals to us a Church age that was hidden in God, tells us how the new Church was started and given an initial motivation, instructs us on how to behave in this age, and informs us of the conflict we will have with the world. With such a carefully worked-out plan, and with the fate of countless souls in the balance, the Lord wants to assure that our conduct does not run contrary to His glorious intention. He makes it clear that there should be no conflict within the Body of believers. For that reason, we are instructed to forbear one another in love and to keep the unity He has created in peace. The Lord is not asking us to create anything, but merely to endeavor to keep what He has already created. He does not ask us to accomplish a task without first informing us of His provisions and expectation for us. We have been called to be saints, to be His children and to be His ambassadors. Our credentials are those of an ambassador and not those of a soldier; we

are primarily asked to endeavor to assure peace “within” the Body of Christ. Only when the battle with outside forces is about to happen that a defensive armor and offensive weapons are considered. We are to walk in lowliness (humility) and meekness, which foster longsuffering that enables us to forbear one another in love. The correct bond assures that we will be fellows with other believers and that we will be like a glorious temple with each member a perfect fit. A perfect fit means everyone has a purpose and Godly function. There are no useless members and all work is selflessly and with singleness of purpose toward God’s purposes, “…In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit” (Eph. 2:14-22). Each of us is given a gift to handle this job. We are given grace as promised in Ephesians 4:7, “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” The mere use of the words endeavoring, forbearing, and longsuffering make it clear that this is not going to be an easy task. The ability to be longsuffering seems to be a natural consequence of a humble and meek spirit. Forbearance requires extraordinary patience and restraint of one’s own feelings in deference to another’s. It is clear that the Lord has given as the ability so that we can perform our duty; thus, to say that we cannot perform it is to imply that His grace is not sufficient. Let us evaluate ourselves. A blessed affirmation is expressed in Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” The unsaved and an immature Christian expects a life of fun and independence, but as spiritual adults, we waive our “rights” and instead realize that we must endeavor and forbear in this life. We do this because we realize that the pain and struggles we experience now help us to bring glory in the church, and such thereby glorifies God. The Bible exhorts God’s people in Psalm 133:1 with these words: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Roma 10:9 1. Aminin mo na ikaw ay isang makasalanan. Roma 3:10 2. Magsisi ka sa iyong kasalanan. Gawa 17:30 3. 4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
