DR.

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

High School Young People

STIRRED UP

for the New School Year

A

S PROVERBS 20:29 asserts, “The glory of young men is their strength…” Scarcely any young man desires to be righteously wise and biblically learned but almost all young people delight to show their might and to be reputed strong. However, it is a blessing that in this church, the program of activities for many young people gears them towards development of both wisdom and strength. One of the biggest departments in the church has managed to accommodate the youth’s excitement in learning more from the Word of God. In the second week of June, along with the opening of academic year 2014-2015 in seven high school campuses, workers and volunteers of the Baptist Youth Campus Ministry resumed their regular weekly conduct of Bible Studies, soulwinning, and classroom evangelisms. From Mondays through Fridays, 3 to 5 workers travel to reach the following schools for the sake of the Gospel: San Pedro Relocation Center National High School (San Pedro Main Campus and Landayan Annex), Bulihan National High School, Biñan National High School, Carmona National High School, Bulihan National High School and St. Francis National High School in Biñan. The past years of teaching the Word of God through this ministering arm have brought the church additional soulwinners, Sunday School teachers and Choir members. In the months to come, there are scheduled evangelisms in selected high schools. Please pray for the success and active involvement of the church’s young people.

Sabi nga sa II Timothy 2:2, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

Ministry in JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BOYS DEPARTMENT

S

IXTY YOUNG BOYS are always on the go for various activities of the high school department. As energetic and enthusiastic as their teacher, Sir Justin Sales, they joyfully gather every Sunday at the third floor of the Main Building. Amongst these youngsters, a number have joined the Baptist Youth Campus Ministry in their respective schools. Hence, they are soulwinners and workers of our church ministries such that some of them can be seen with the church choir, and Sunday School Children’s Department. We must remember that from this pool of actively growing Christians will rise the church’s new breed of preachers, missionaries, pastors, and church workers. Let us support them and continually pray for their zealousness and love for the Lord.

LEAD “…For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing...” – Ephesians 5:22-25

I

N TODAY’S EQUALITY-DRIVEN SOCIETY, most individuals are questioning and simply refusing to accept the truth that the husband is the authority within the family. However, this is what our Father in Heaven says in His Word. Paul says that the wife is to submit to her husband as to Christ. He went on to explain that as the Church must obey Christ, the wife should also obey her husband. According to the Scriptures, the father is the final authority within the family. Paul also said that the husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the Church. It is important to note that our Saviour never abused His authority over the Church. In the same way, the husband should never use his God-given authority to abuse his wife or family. The husband is to love his wife. Over the years, there have been many published studies on the importance of fathers. Without a father, a child is much more likely to engage in activities that are abusive or harmful. In a survey, it was discovered that sixty-three percent of young people who commit suicide are from fatherless homes; eighty-five percent of children who exhibit behavioural disorders are from fatherless homes; eighty percent of rapists are from fatherless homes; seventy-one percent of high school dropouts are from fatherless homes; seventy-five percent of all adolescent patients in chemical-abuse centers are from fatherless homes; seventy percent of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes; eighty-five percent of youth in prison are from fatherless homes; seventy percent of pregnant teens are from fatherless homes. In the majority of studies documenting the impact of fatherless homes, there is one recurring theme —without strong fathers at home, children suffer in many profound ways. God knew what He was doing when He created man and woman and brought them together as a family. Without this core unit that God has established, no culture has a chance for long-term survival. The most important building block of any society is the family. The family is the foundation and the cornerstone of civilization. Within the family, one of the most important roles is the father. Today, the father’s significance has largely been diminished. One area in which this is painfully evident is with his authority in the family. Paul has fully addressed the family structure in his epistle to the Ephesians. The father was given the role to be the Provider, the Preserver, and the Protector of the home. 1 Tim 5:8 says, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. “ For a father there is no greater basic responsibility than to provide for the necessities of his family. Another important obligation is to be the Preserver of the home by way of Biblical correction. This is becoming increasingly a taboo today, but the Bible declares in Proverbs 23:13-14, “Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die...” The father as leader of the home should also be the Protector as the Lord is in Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” May the God-ordained leader of the home take the lead; and may his wife, children, and entire household be in followership and supportive to his leadership. So then the Lord can accomplish His perfect purpose in the home.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
