VOLUME 23 > ISSUE 26> JUNE 30
As we conclude today our month-long Sunday School theme that focuses on “Longing for Wisdom,” I pray that every member has gained more desire to learn the essential traits needed for our Christian life. There is much to learn and there are many opportunities and means that God has given for us to learn. May we not be found guilty missing and losing those chances. Just to be a child of God is already a great privilege, but much joy is experienced when we have heavenly wisdom on how to be one. Learning about prayer, prudence, patience, His power and perseverance will surely give us a big advantage as we journey every single day. We should always allow God’s Word to work in and through us while we read it daily and hear it preached constantly for us to learn much more. Let us continue seeking His wisdom! May God give us a blessed Sunday!

O
ur effectiveness in the Christian life depends on our perseverance during failure. Many of the world’s finest athletes and leaders have suffered seemingly sidelining blows early in their lives, but they never gave up. Consider these who faced what some people would consider insurmountable odds.
He learned to shoot left-handed and won gold medals in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics.
Johnny Fulton was run over by a car at the age of three. He suffered crushed hips, broken ribs, a fractured skull, and compound fractures in his legs. It did not look as if he would live. But he would not give up. In fact, he later ran the half-mile in less than two minutes.
Woodrow Wilson could not read until he was ten years old. But he was a committed person. He became the twenty-eighth President of the United States.
Shelly Mann was paralyzed by polio when she was five years old, but she would not give up. She eventually claimed eight different swimming records for the U.S. and won a gold medal at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. In 1938, Karoly Takacs, a member of Hungary's world-champion pistol shooting team and sergeant in the army, lost his right hand when a grenade he was holding exploded. But Takacs did not give up.
Lou Gehrig was such a clumsy ball player that the boys in his neighborhood would not let him play on their team. But he was committed. He did not give up. Eventually, his name was entered into baseball's Hall of Fame.
All of these people went on to accomplish great things because they did not allow setbacks to sideline them. As Christians, we will face setbacks. There will be days that the devil seems to be gaining victory in our lives. But that doesn’t mean we have to give in! It has been said that the greatness of a man is not what keeps him going but what it takes to stop him. Even so, as Christians, we cannot give in to the devil and give up. Our effectiveness in the Christian life depends on our perseverance during failure—our faithfulness. -http://www.dailyintheword.org/content/firmly-committed
The story is told of a man who was asked, “Are you a believer in the Christian religion?” “Oh, certainly!” “You are a member of some church, then, I suppose?” “Member of a church? No, indeed. Why should I be a member of a church? It is quite unnecessary; the dying thief wasn’t a member of a church, and he went to Heaven.” “But of course you have been baptized; you know the command—” “Been baptized? Oh, no; that is another needless ceremony! I am as safe as the dying thief was, and he never was baptized.” “But surely, since you will not join a church or be baptized, you will do something in acknowledgment of your faith. You will give of

merchant of St. Petersburg at his own cost supported several native missionaries in India, and gave liberally to the cause of Christ at home. On being asked how he could afford to do it, he replied: “Before my conversion, when I served the world and self, I did it on a grand scale and at the most lavish expense. And when God, by His grace, called me out of darkness, I resolved that Christ and His cause should have more than I had ever spent for the
your means—you will help the cause in some way?” “No, sir; I do nothing of the kind. The dying thief—” “Let me remark, my friend, before you go any further, that you seem to be on pretty intimate terms with the dying thief. You seem to derive a great deal of consolation from his career. But, mind you, there is one important difference between you and him. He was a dying thief—and you are a living one.” -http://ministry127.com/resources/illustration/a-living-thief
world. And as to giving so much, it is God who enables me to do it; for at my conversion I solemnly promised that I would give to His cause a fixed proportion of all that my business brought in to me, and every year since I made that promise it has brought me in about double what it did the year before, so that I easily can, as I do, double my gifts for His service.” And John Bunyan tells us, A man there was, some called him mad, The more he gave, the more he had. And there are truth and instruction in the inscription on the Italian tombstone, “What I gave away I saved, what I spent I used, what I kept I lost.” “Giving to the Lord,” says another, “is but transporting our goods to a higher floor.” And, says Dr. Barrow, “In defiance of all the torture and malice and might of the world, the liberal man will ever be rich, for God’s providence is his estate, God’s wisdom and power his defense, God’s love and favor his reward, and God’s word his security.” -http://www.dailyintheword.org/rooted/giving-blessed

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
