God Can Give Us Strength

God’s Strength Can Make Us Stable 1 Peter 5:10

I. God’s strength can make us stable in the faith. A. The strength of the faith of the believers of yesteryears rested on the sprinkling of the blood of the Lamb. B. The strength of the faith of the believers of today rests on the shed blood of the Lamb. C. The strength of the faith of all believers rests on the sprinkled blood of the Lamb in heaven’s glory land. II. God’s strength can make us stable in the fight. A. God’s strength is well able to help us fight Satan. B. God’s strength is well able to help us fight ourselves. C. God’s strength is well able to help us fight against the system of the world.

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Ito ay hindi dahil sa asintadong pagsaltik ng bato mula sa kanyang tirador ngunit dahil sa kapangyarihan ng Diyos na pinanghawakan niya, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (1 Sam 17:45).

Gaining Stability Through Trials

"BUT HE KNOWETH THE WAY THAT I TAKE: WHEN HE HATH TRIED ME, I SHALL COME FORTH AS GOLD." - JOB 23:10 by Dr. Paul Chappell A missionary couple once brought some African pastors to the Unites States for a big meeting. During their free time, these pastors wanted to go shopping. Even though they were in a small town, the missionary knew there was a chance one of them might have some difficulty finding their way around or get lost. So the missionary gave each pastor his phone number in case of an emergency. In less than an hour the missionary's phone rang and one of the pastors said, "I am lost." The missionary replied, "Lay the phone down, go to the street corner, find out the names of the two streets, and come back and tell me." In a few minutes the African pastor returned and reported, "I am at the corner of 'Walk' and 'Don't Walk.'" The trials of life sometimes make us feel lost and unstable—we feel directionless and don't know which way to turn. Sometimes it even seems that there are no good options. But God often allows trials in our lives so we will lean on Him and experience stability through His strength. The

worst

thing

that

could

happen to us would be not to have any difficulties—we'd never know our need of the Lord. God allows enough difficulty to bring us to Him, but then, God gives us enough grace to meet those difficulties—every day. Are you struggling in a trial? Perhaps a trial you are facing is making you feel unsure and unstable. God will give sufficient grace for every difficulty you face. Each day He gives us enough difficulty to draw us to Him, and then, God gives us enough grace to live that day as we ought. Rely on the strength of God, trust His love and goodness, and experience His marvelous grace.

Finding Stability

“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.”-Isaiah 33:6 In an age driven by a rapidly changing shift in the society's moral and spiritual landscape, one could not help but wonder, “Is stability a thing of the past? Can I ever achieve stability?” Our world is shifting to embrace levels of consciousness that none of us has ever seen before in our lifetimes. We are in the days when we ask ourselves, “How can it be possible that people's clamor for their civil rights be morally wrong?” And so, life may feel increasingly unstable as more and more confusions are revealed and the foundational truth of the Bible falls on deafened ears, making space for what’s new...but without something tested, truthful, and timeless to back it up. How do we achieve stability in these tumultuous times? STABILITY IS ACHIEVED BY DAILY CLEANSING. We must make a rule in our lives that in moments where God shows us failures or sins, we should commit that we will confess and forsake them, “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” (1 Corinthians 11:31) We, as believers seem to forget the fact that Christianity is not about God rewarding good people. Christianity is about God forgiving bad people...”For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” The requirement for cleansing is to be forgiven. To be forgiven, we must humble ourselves confessing our sins before the Lord in prayer daily, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). STABILITY IS ACHIEVED BY DAILY FEEDING. In the high-priestly prayer of Jesus, the Saviour prayed for all of us, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). A believer in Christ achieves stability by daily feeding on God's Word. The really stable life is a life that is grounded on the Word of God and that feeds on the Word of God. Here we see as

well that it is important for a Christian to memorize Scriptures, to learn what God says and meditate on it in the heart. Then the Word of God written in the heart, comes to the conscience in times of stress, temptations, and confusions and reminds us to be steadfast on God's precepts. When great temptations come, it is too late to search for God's warning. Thus, let us hide His admonition in our hearts ahead of time so we would remain fervent in the Lord in trying times. STABILITY IS ACHIEVED BY DAILY WALKING. We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 to “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” We are exhorted not only to keep the appearance of doing right but also to make sure that we shun the approach

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your

to sin. As Christians, we should avoid the outlying area of sin and avoid the steps that would lead to sin. King David could have avoided adultery with Bathsheba had he not missed his duty in battle. This then would have avoided him from committing further sin by murdering Bathsheba's husband, Uriah. Our stability will be surely achieved if we keep walking daily in the goodness of the Lord. Through all these, we praise and thank the Lord Who cuts through our confusion and instability. Indeed, “… the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (1 Peter 5:10).

remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26). I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word” (Psalm 119:107).

God's Strength Can Make Us Stable Beata B. Agustin

God’s strength can make us stable in our salvation-security Against fire of hell as sin’s penalty Since He is the power of our redemption throughout eternity Who keeps us in His justification’s certainty! Thus, we must settle in His regeneration-assurance, contending doubts’ obscurity. God’s strength can make us stable in our soul-sanctification Against defilement brought by flesh and lust’s corruption Since He is the righteousness of our well-being’s purification Who forgives us and cleanses us from iniquity’s abomination! Thus, we must confess our transgression, seeking His pardon and correction.

God’s strength can make us stable in our spirituality-striving Against worldliness enticing our carnal craving Since He is the might of our new nature with His gracious loving Who moves us toward conversion-driving and praise-filled thanksgiving! Thus, we must abide in His holiness, overcoming disobedience that causes grieving. God’s strength can make us stable in our supplication-struggle Against prayerlessness of slothfulness’ snuggle Since He is the anchor of our fellowship that does not wiggle Who answers to us with what is best according to His sovereign angle! Thus, we must trust His heart, calling unto Him with no unbelief’s tangle. God’s strength can make us stable in our scripture-standard Against indecency and compromise revealed by immorality’s card Since He is the author of our faith based on His Word’s regard Who establishes us in His truth for fruitful Christian growth onward! Thus, we must cleave to His ways, using biblical principles though sometimes, it’s hard. God’s strength can make us stable in our soulwinning-stewardship Against influence and integrity-loss due to worldly friendship Since He is the foundation of our Great Commission partnership Who helps us in sharing the Gospel thru His leadership! Thus, we must witness for Him, testifying about His love and His offered fellowship. God’s strength can make us stable in our servanthood-success Against failures midst our faithfulness-courses Since He is the rock of our church and all its heavenly-directed services Who enables us to labor for His kingdom-advancement as our work He blesses! Thus, we must live for Him, submitting to His perfection-process. 05
