from your Pastor “Determination in Discipleship” is a timely theme for our Church this month as we strive to continue what we have started in “Making Disciples” this year. We thank God for giving us opportunities and privileges to pursue heavenly goals and accomplish spiritual tasks for the second half of 2014 through our church because of His grace that has enabled us. For sure, God’s presence, provision and power will again carry us through as we go onward, push forward, and move upward to achieve for His glory this July. With His ready power, let us be determined to persevere in our commitment to do His will, particularly in our involvement in discipleship, which will surely lead us to increase in our faith in Him, while we let His word dwell richly in our lives in all wisdom (Col. 3:16). DR. ED M. LAURENA I am blessed to see your determination in being a part in the fulfillment of the Great Commission, and I commend you for such. I am likewise encouraged to have you as my prayer partners in the Lord’s work. I can feel your powerful support in my preaching engagements through your prayer, and I thank God for it. I truly appreciate your faithfulness to the Lord. May I again ask for your prayer as I declare the Word of God and be a blessing to the brethren in Mira Mesa Bible Baptist Church under Pastor Willie Del and Bible Baptist Church under Pastor Larry Obero this Sunday. Together, let us be determined in advancing God’s kingdom by His goodness, graciousness and greatness!!!

Church Bulletin CIW-OUTREACH CONTINUES TO REACH OUT IN FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION

W

ITH OUR CHURCH’S determination to help fulfill the Great Commission, our Outreach in the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City is constantly reaching out to the inmates for their spiritual freedom in Christ. Our CIW Outreach indicated its mission as, “to help build lives with emphasis to spiritual well-being.” Its verbalized vision is “to see transformed lives of inmates through spiritual and moral activities.” By God’s grace and through His power, such vision-mission is being realized through the following regular activities conducted in the Institution: worship services, soulwinning, baptism, discipleship sessions, prayer and revival meetings, and Outreach anniversary celebration. Our Pastor, through his delegated authority, Preacher Rodel Pagkatipunan, supervises the aforementioned endeavors. On the other hand, Sis. Phoebe Astudillo, our Outreach coordinator there, leads the members and other inmates in their daily devotion, Bible study, and discipleship. Currently, our CIW Outreach services are set every first and fourth Tuesday of the month. During said meetings, they have an average of 60 attendees with three first time visitors. Please continually pray and support this ministry.

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

A

Ministry in GRADE 4 STUDENTS

T

HE GRADE 4 CLASS is under the Juniors Department of our Children’s Sunday School. Every Sunday, the said class has a regular attendance of 60 to 75 students, boys and girls combined. The Sunday School Program begins with the cheerful welcoming by the Sunday School teachers, and followed by God-glorifying singing and prayer. Through constant reminders, students are exhorted to seek first the Lord through Bible reading and prayer and to do their part in Christian service through church attendance, soulwinning, giving and proper grooming. The program continues as the Sunday School lesson is taught in divided sessions dealing with boys and girls separately in order to meet their spiritual needs more effectively. During the last Sunday of the month, all the lessons for the past weeks are reviewed for better learning retention. Once a month, the students enjoy Christian fun and fellowship as the boys and girls join together in a single class. Meanwhile, the Sunday School teachers have launched motivational programs to boost the interest of the students and to encourage active participation. Merit incentives, such as the “I CAN” tokens are given to remarkable students who can exchange them for special items like notebook, ball pen and Bible. A special award is monthly given to the most outstanding student who has showcased exemplary involvement and character. One of the highlights of the Juniors Department is training the students to value church worship through their worship servicehour. They are also assigned to render special numbers in the church congregation. Such brings much joy and encouragement to the parents, members and visitors. The Sunday School Juniors Department, by God’s grace, serve the students with dedication and compassion fulfilling the Great Commission for the glory of God. We pray that our unceasing burden to educate the students be optimized through the partnership of the parents who share the same program in their homes. We are most privileged to serve God through these Grade 4 students. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. Mark 10:21

D

ANIEL, THE CHURCH’S most favored baby just turned one year old a little over a week ago… and he was not walking yet. All of Joshua and Martha’s kids were walking by his age and Daniel was not even trying. The couple, then, found out why their precious child was so. Upon learning of their child’s walking disability, they strive to help him. With six other people in the house, someone will pick him up and then he points in the direction he wants to go. Walking is a learning process and to be able to do it, Daniel needs to move out of his comfort zone. He must be willing to fall down a few times as he grows and matures in this process. No difference, thus, does it make with our Christian walk. Advancing towards Christlikeness by way of discipleship requires us to step out of our comfort zones for it will be a call of denying

ourselves, taking up our respective crosses and then, following Jesus all the way through, Matthew 16:24. The first move is most often the hardest; but as a quotation says, “Start small, but start!” The determination to start with godly confidence and the decision to go sincerely and continue are great essentials to finish with victory. The Bible encourages us through the rich young ruler’s encounter with Jesus to build a strong foundation in faith. He did not actually love Jesus, contrary to his salutation to the Saviour as a Good Master. Yes, he was undeniably moral and extensively treating the law of God with high regard. However, Jesus compassionately expressed that his uprightness cannot pass for a sole requirement to inherit eternal life. He must detach himself from the holds of this world’s wealth. Sadly, he responded in grief and went away from the Saviour. Let not our possession, position, and even promotion be forms of opposition in determining to fulfill a joyful walk with Jesus. Instead of making them deterrents, let us utilize our God-given devices and resources to show our real and sincere love for our Master. Leaving our comfort zones must be traded with leading others to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.

“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” – Jeremiah 13:23

“…Every man at his best estate is altogether vanity.”

Thus was penned by King David in Psalm 39:5. In and of ourselves, we cannot do anything to change our vile nature. However, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has promised in Revelation 21:5, “…Behold, I make all things new…” The Lord has made it possible for us to change for the better, “…behold, all things are become new”- 2 Corinthians 5:17. We have all heard of this adage, “This journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Such is similar to Neil Armstrong’s words when he first walked on the surface of the moon… “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Truth be told, it is very difficult to embark determinedly on something new since most people are either stubborn or fearful to take the starting steps to change routines or way of living. However, it is needful for advancements and breakthroughs. The start of any noble endeavour carries with it specific challenges to move away from our deeply-rooted paradigms and respective comfort zones. The New Testament exemplifies to us the life of Saul who became Paul. He showed great determination in starting anew through times of great conflict. He launched into his changed life, missionary journeys, and church planting amidst doubting brethren. He persisted through the rage of his previous peers. He even persevered in accomplishing his God-given goals even when his Christian friends pleaded with him through tears to protect himself in Acts 21:13-14. Take upon yourself to start living in accordance with God’s laws, and you will see for yourself how good it is to fulfil the will of God. BE STABLE. You need to have a firm belief in the achievement and success of your God-given desires…A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. You must, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye doubleminded.”-James 4:8 BE IN SELF-CONTROL. Yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and follow His leading in your decision to start, with the conviction to achieve your goals. “For as many as are led by the Spirit…”- Romans 8:14 BE IN STEP. List the steps you need to take each day that will assist you on your determination to accomplish the new endeavour or task to be of use in the ministry. “…Even so we also should walk in newness of life.”- Romans 6:4 BE SPECIFIC. Write down a date when you will start this task and how often you will do it. Choose the route you will take in doing it. State exactly in the present tense what you are doing, as in, “I am winning three souls today and will do so on Monday, Thursday and Saturday each week.” Being specific implies a commitment to your goal. While the list may go on, it is still up to us to be the change we want to see in the world. Any giant leap starts with a single step. We must begin to fulfil commandments relating to small things and we will accomplish the fulfilment of larger ones as all small things lead to larger ones. May the Spirit of the Lord empower us to start achieving greater things for Him.

Lord, We Need You In Our Determination for Discipleship Beata B. Agustin

Lord, we are weak, causing us to fall; Against daily adversities, our strength is small. Hence, we need You, and on Your name we humbly call… …Determined to trust in Your grace that breaks our imprisoning weariness-wall, For discipleship’s plan to succeed as we give our best and all! Lord, we are carnal, pulling us to backslide; Against worldly invitations, our flesh is unable to hide. Hence, we need You, and in Your forgiveness we earnestly abide… …Determined to ask for Your sanctification from sins that reside, For discipleship’s effort to advance as we follow You, our sovereign guide! Lord, we are discouraged, making us quit; Against rigorous persecutions, our patience is just a little bit. Hence, we need You, and before Your presence we restfully sit… …Determined to seek Your power midst technologies of human wit, For discipleship’s purpose to prevail as we strive to be spiritually fit! Lord, we are lazy, dragging us to complacency; Against divine labor, our deed is nothing but deficiency. Hence, we need You, and to Your work we fully submit our insufficiency… …Determined to obey Your commandment driven by holiness’ proficiency, For discipleship’s value to increase as we invest in service with eternal excellency! Lord, we are frustrated, giving us dismay; Against common temptations, our endurance is lacking along stress’ ray. Hence, we need You, and for Your mercy we sincerely pray… …Determined to share Your love thru the Gospel we relay, For discipleship’s mission to spread as we dedicate our lives without delay! Lord, we are offended, knocking us down; Against fiery trials, our faith is proven wanting for the victor’s crown. Hence, we need You, and in Your righteousness we confidently rely though lies frown… …Determined to stand for Your truth, whether its color is white or brown, For discipleship’s aim to shine as we proclaim Your Word in every city and town! Lord, we are selfish, letting us become unproductive; Against genuine sacrifice, our offering is not acceptable since it’s ineffective. Hence, we need You, and to Your will we truly surrender, being attentive… … Determined to comply to Your standards which are instructive, For discipleship’s fruits to grow as we achieve thru Your directive!

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
