VOLUME 23 ISSUE 30 JULY 28
from your Pastor
DR. ED M. LAURENA
From the very beginning, God has already designed mankind to work and labour hard (Genesis 3:17-19). As result of such labour, there is provision for our needs. Therefore, I believe that it is just right for us to use the strength God is giving us, not only for ourselves, but also for the Lord and his work. While we may not have all the same amount of strength, but with what we have, we must exert our best for God’s work. While working for our daily needs is a necessity, let us bear in mind that it must not be an excuse for us not to work for God. Let us realize that it is a privilege to be His labourers, as we recognize the impact it will bring in our own lives and in the lives of others as well. Just like our daily work, ministerial labour is hard and somewhat challenging, but God promises that it will not be in vain. I encourage every member to continue labouring for God until He comes! On this special Sunday for our working Single men and ladies, I would like to commend you for your faithfulness in God’s work! Let us have a blessed Sunday!

od be thanked and praised for blessing our church with Single Working Men and Ladies who are enthusiastically seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness while energetically doing His will in their respective occupations. Indeed, their eager participation in church activities amidst their rigorous job-schedule is an inspiration, and their willing contribution for ministry projects despite their financial obligations is an encouragement. The said “Singles of our church diligently attend their Sunday School classes. The men listen soberly to their teacher, Preacher Rey Dalde to learn Scriptural principles. Meanwhile, the ladies, in order to comprehend biblical instruc tions, attentively focus themselves toward their teachers, Mrs. Liza Alivia (for those 26-year old and up), and Miss Beata Agustin (for those 25-year old and below). As to the average number of regu lar attendees, there are 50 to 60 men, while there are 80 to 90 ladies. The working singles are supportive to the Lord’s work. In fact, 48 of them are considered as full-time church workers who have surrendered their lives to the Lord, as staff members of the Christian Academy, the Bible College, the School for the Deaf, the Loving Hands Orphanage, and the Church Office. Further more, several among the non-full time working singles are involved in the different ministries of our church, especially in musicand in Sunday school teaching.
Labor that Lasts Long
T
here is an old adage which says that “Nothing lasts forever.” While that may be true in the temporal domain, it is inaccurate in the spiritual realm. An exact rendering would be “Only things of real value last forever.” Scriptures has said in 2 Corinthians 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” We are so easily entangled in earthly affairs and so easily consumed with the desire for those things that do not last. We will not live on this earth forever, so our desires and even our trials should be viewed in the light of eternity. Every day of our lives, we are confronted with a myriad of circumstances and emotions that derail us to move on and live for God. The Bible is replete with examples of how laboring individuals carried out God's sovereign will. What kept Nehemiah going in rebuilding the wall despite oppositions is the greatness of God. Likewise, Noah built the ark for an interminable 120 years while looking up to that great God and the vision He had instilled in his heart. It is amazing how many of God's choicest servants have gone through great trials, great distresses, and great reproaches yet their labor lasted through His own strengthening grace. In and of ourselves, we are easily discouraged and defeated. “It is always too soon to quit,” said Dr. Lee Roberson. If we read through history, we will find that the Christians whose labor lasted for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next world...Heaven. We have only such a short time for work, sacrifice, service, and then all of eternity to rejoice...so let us labor on and strive for godly laboring that lasts. In the final analysis, no amount of our years or longevity laboring in the Lord's work and striving for righteousness and godliness in our individual Christian life is ever comparable to the lasting labor of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation to be accomplished. No amount of our seemingly heroic feats of righteous living and sacrificial toil for ministerial work is worthy to be compared even to a single drop of blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary. We have a Saviour and Creator Whose labor perennially lasts even through timeless eternity. May the labor that we choose to endeavor for the Saviour last long enough as God's ever-present love, mercy, and grace be continually manifested in our lives for this world to see.

The Little Satellite that Could
I
n 1972, NASA launched the exploratory space probe Pioneer 10. According to Leon Jaroff in Time, the satellite's primary mission was to reach Jupiter, photograph the planet and its moons, and beam data to earth about Jupiter's magnetic field, radiation belts, and atmosphere. Scientists regarded this as a bold plan, for at that time no earth satellite had ever gone beyond Mars. They feared the asteroid belt would destroy the satellite before it could reach its target. But Pioneer 10 accomplished its mission and much, much more. Swinging past the giant planet in November 1973, Jupiter's immense gravity hurled Pioneer 10 at a higher rate of speed toward the edge of the solar system. At one billion miles from the sun, Pioneer 10 passed Saturn. At some two billion miles, it hurtled past Uranus; Neptune at nearly three billion miles; Pluto at almost four billion miles. By 1997, twenty-five years after its launch, Pioneer 10 was more than six billion miles from the sun. Despite that immense distance, Pioneer 10 continued to beam back radio signals to scientists on Earth. “Perhaps most remarkable,” writes Jaroff, “those signals emanate from an 8-watt transmitter, which radiates about as much power as a bedroom night light, and takes more than nine hours to reach Earth.” ‘The Little Satellite That Could’ was not qualified to do what it did. Engineers designed Pioneer 10 with a useful life of just three years. But it kept going and going. By simple longevity, its tiny 8-watt transmitter radio accomplished more than anyone thought possible. Pioneer 10 wasn’t supposed to operate for over twenty-five years. While it was sent on an unexpected journey, it kept doing its duty. Did you ever imagine being where you are today? Maybe you imagined somewhere totally different, but remember that God has you right where He wants you. Your responsibility isn’t to change your location but to faithfully serve God where you are. Have you felt a longing to move somewhere else? Like they say, the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. But as I’ve witnessed many times, the other side is full of just as many heartaches and difficulties. Rather than dreaming of being somewhere else, be faithful where God has placed you. -http://www.dailyintheword.org/

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
