from your Pastor Truly, the Lord is faithful in establishing us, and in directing our hearts into His love, and into the patient waiting for Christ as II Thessalonians 3:3-5 asserts. With His unfailing compassion, we are comforted amidst our consecration-conflicts, causing us to cling and cleave to His care when we are confronted of our commitmentconfidence. We praise God for entrusting to us His discipleship mandate that allows us, not only to win souls and invite people to His church, but also to help build lives. That is a heavenly task assigned to every Christian with an eternal reward awaiting each believer who will surely accept it as a blessed privilege. May we be one among His children with willingness to respond to His call, command and challenge for discipleship-participation. May we not refuse and reject His invitation, lest we face the dangers of not being involved, which DR. ED M. LAURENA are explicitly elaborated in our Sunday School classes. Let us then continually support our discipleship program. We are thankful to God for using such endeavor for the members’ spiritual growth, which in turn, strengthens our Church’s doctrine-steadfastness, and mission-advancement. Just recently, the Lord has used our Church to assist in the reorganization of the work in Miag-ao, Iloilo. This week, our mission in Goa, Camarines Sur will be celebrating its first Anniversary. All of these are evidences that the Lord is blessing our Church because we are doing His will according to His Word, ways and wisdom. Indeed, God’s work needs our prayer and performance, which can only be productive through His power. We are again enjoined to exalt Him in our service and in our worship!

I. Undermining discipleship weakens the hearts of the believers. A. It weakens the believers’ hearts to trust in God’s omnipotence. B. It weakens the believers’ hearts to trust in God’s omnipresence. C. It weakens the believers’ hearts to trust in God’s immutability. II. Undermining discipleship wanes the hands of the believers. A. Not involving in discipleship program lessens the capacity of the Church to do more for God. B. Not involving in discipleship program lowers the courage of the Church to go and grow more for God. C. Not involving in discipleship program loosens the commitment of the Church to glow more for God. III. Undermining discipleship wards off the honour intended for the believers. A. Ministry in SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS

A

GOD WROUGHT VICTORY IN THE 4TH OUTREACH ANNIVERSARY IN SINGAPORE "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." -1 Corinthians 15:57

T

HAT WAS THE glorious declaration of our brethren in Singapore as they praised God for His goodness and faithfulness and for giving them the victory in their 4th Outreach Anniversary. On that July 27 anniversary celebration, they had a total of 90 in attendance, 35 first time visitors and 17 souls won to the Lord. Indeed, all their prayer vigils, special number practices, cooking and invitation efforts paid off, and they acknowledged that those were accomplished by God’s grace, through His power and for His honor. In the morning, their guest

speaker, Pastor Rudy Calayan of Grace Baptist Church in Lucena City, delivered a timely message about increasing their faith. Then, our Pastor, Dr. Ed Laurena encouraged the members to continue serving God in their afternoon service, while Sis. Anica Laurena prepared the listeners before each preaching session. Afterwards, they held their Victory Camp for three days and two nights of rest, sweet fellowship and studying of the Word. According to Preacher Jong Longcanaya, “Truly, God gave us the sweet time to celebrate the birthday of His work here in Singapore. Now, we're excited to face new challenges as we head on for our 5th anniversary. We can't thank you enough, brethren in CBBC San Pedro City, for praying for us. To God be all the glory!”

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

I

T HAS BEEN my joy and pleasure to see so many lives changed, blessed, and used by God through the discipleship program and ministry of this great church. I am truly grateful that the Lord has allowed me to participate in the discipleship efforts of CBBC by first being a disciple and then by being a discipler likewise. I praise God for the disciplers of this church that have been used by God to help mold me to be the person I am today. For me, the biggest blessing in discipleship is the chance given to each and every Christian to make a difference in other born-again believers’ lives. To be used by God to draw other people closer to Him and to help make them more like Jesus Christ, aside from winning souls to the Lord, is such an amazing and awesome privilege. There is no greater joy or accomplishment that can surpass such! Moreover, I have learned these past couple of years that true discipleship is not merely between the hours of 3pm and 4pm every Sunday, but is all throughout the day by the example and testimony we show to those we are leading. The things that we say and the acts that we do are all a part of discipling other people. If you and I take some time to consider this, perhaps we will realize that we have more people under our “discipleship” than we first realized. I am blessed to have been given so many people who have made a remarkable spiritual influence in my life. My thanks to all those who have been my “disciplers!” You all have been such a huge blessing in my life! CBBC church family, let us continue to follow our Pastor’s leadership as we strive to fulfill the Great Commission! Let us go and make an impact in our friends and loved ones, our acquaintances, and more importantly, our brothers and sisters in Christ. May God continue to bless our discipleship endeavors this year, as we follow our church’s 2014 theme of Making Disciples. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Hebrews 5:13

W

E OFTEN USE the term “baby Christians” to refer to the new believers in the church. They are likened to babies who are not capable of anything. That does not mean that they are not true Christians, but that they do not have yet the experience or skill requisite to enable them to understand the “deep things of God” (I Corinthians 2:10), and even to defend the Christian faith. They are still unable to grasp the roots of church doctrines. As this is their case, they need to be guided in their walk in the spirit. First steps are crucial, and these are the times when everybody in the church must be delighted to take part as they reach out for our helping hands. In their pursuit toward joyful Christian living, we can support by way of discipleship, hospitality and love. New born babies desire the pure milk. In 1 Peter 2:2, Apostle Peter mentioned the sincere milk as the unadulterated Word of God; and Apostle Paul reiterated that the new believers like the Thessalonians are to be nourished gently and with proper care (1 Thess 2:7). We, then, must not expect abrupt transformation in their behavior; hence, we must be thankful for a hint of good change we see from time to time. This is possible only if we induce the importance of the King James Bible as a tool for starting Christians. Growing babies are the joy of the home.

Everyone wants to cuddle them and make sure that their needs are all met. As a church, we need to learn hospitality. It should be our joy to see first time visitors in the church and treat them as special guests who must consider coming back in the following week until they finally become part of the Baptist family. How do we treat our guests every Sunday? Are we friendly enough to welcome them with a smile, thank them for accepting our invitation, make them seated comfortably in the FTV class, turn them over to their respective Sunday School class in their next attendance, and expect them to grow as we did? We must be as encouraging as Apostle Paul when he guided Timothy to persevere toward spiritual maturity as expressed in 2 Timothy 3:14, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.” Raising babies requires love just as how it has been reiterated in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.” A ministry without love will surely be fruitless. God’s desire for us to be fruitful Christians will never come to pass if discipleship will be envisioned to be just a requirement. It must be rooted and grounded in love so as not to be easily broken by difficulties and dangers in helping these baby Christians grow. It is surely a tremendous responsibility to support the first steps of baby Christians, but it is a priceless privilege.

Pagpapala Sa Paglilingkod Sa Diyos Beata B. Agustin

“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”- Matthew 12:25

T

HE ENEMY, SATAN, goes to work in a church or in an endeavour through brethren undermining the programs of the Church. The Jezebel spirit rejects authority openly, while the Absalom spirit undermines it from within. Undermining constituted authority with the subtle intent to overthrow it is unlawful. If it is a legitimately placed Godgiven authority, and we set out to undermine it with the vicious intent to overthrow it, we sin against God and are guilty of treason or sedition. In a nation, treason is punishable by death or life imprisonment. The spirit of betrayal primarily undermines authority. This proves to us that although God is King and His authority may be instituted in the church, there can be attacks against it. We must then be on guard and refuse to allow this vile spirit to come into our homes, businesses, churches or our relationships. The interesting thing about this spirit is that it follows identifiable patterns. Once we can recognize these patterns in our lives, in the church, in our relationships with one another or in our businesses, we can prepare ourselves, so that we do not become victims nor be used by this vile spirit. Nobody suddenly wakes up one morning and discovers that he is undermining God-given authorities, precepts, and programs. It is a process. The good news is that if we sense ourselves being attacked by this dejection, there is forgiveness and there is deliverance.

Jesus gave a principle in Matthew 12:25. He asserted that a house divided against itself cannot stand. This means that a team divided against itself by jealousy, envy and competition, and dejection cannot stand. A business or a church divided against itself will not stand. Absalom was the son of King David. He lived in the king's house as a son, but his heart was not after his father or his godly programs and visions. His heart had its own agenda, as he wanted his own way, and so the king's house was divided. In the church, there is a great need for a restoration of bolstering the brethren and the house of the Lord to cleave to it. It is just as ungodly to be undermining God-instituted programs as the act of adultery. Demoralizing the house of faith by undermining Church programs is ungodly and it is not the nature of Christ. God builds on motivations and encouragement in a covenant church family community. If we cannot bolster those around us of precious likeminded faith, then we will not be able to help build anything that lasts. Criticism and pessimism destroy families, undermine institutions of all kinds, defeat nearly everyone, and spread a shroud of gloom over the entire community and further…nations. We essentially undermine virtues. Then when we discover that we actually need people who want to do the right thing, those people do not exist because we have crushed their desire to do the right thing with all these dejections. We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our false security, to challenge our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behaviour. We must magnify, promote and never undermine God through the Church, its people, and its programs.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
