VOLUME 23 ISSUE 33 August 18
from your Pastor Much of our service and worship to God is hindered because of wrong priorities. We will hinder our own spiritual growth, not because we cannot grow, but because we fail to see the importance and blessings of dedicating our worship to God. There must be a continual realization in our hearts that He alone is worthy to be worshipped. When we do that, we will learn to love Him, seek first His Kingdom and do His will in our lives. Also, as we are about to launch our church project next Sunday, I am so excited as to what God will do. In this regard, I pray that God will give all of us a right spirit, which Caleb had, that will motivate us to invest and involve. This is not just about a building that we need or a project that would benefit us, but a proof of God’s working through us and for many lives that He would save and use. Let us all look forward to God’s miraculous power in a church family that serves together. Have a Spirit-filled Sunday!

Our Worship to God-A Foremost Priority Beata B. Agustin
Our joyful worship to God exposes our devotion! Such is priority truly foremost along His direction… Which He plants in our heart against selfishness’ distraction While beautifying our secured salvation-sanctification With His immutable perfection. Our acceptable worship to God exemplifies our commitment! Such is a priority verily possible along His involvement… Which He instills into our mind against weariness’ sentiment While guarding our justified adoption-entitlement With His eternal settlement. Our grateful worship to God expresses our faithfulness! Such is a priority absolutely notable along His goodness… Which He establishes upon our soul against infidelity’s stubbornness While upholding our vowed dedication-earnestness With His compassionate kindness. Our sincere worship to God examines our sacrifices! Such is a priority genuinely meaningful along His praises… Which He delights in through our faith against pride’s devices While blessing our ministerial labor-services With His abundant graces.
Our unwavering worship to God explains our perseverance! Such is a priority surely commendable along His assurance… Which He gives to our conviction against slothfulness’ forbearance While strengthening our steadfast persistence-endurance With His powerful deliverance. Our diligent worship to God excites our stewardship! Such is a priority undoubtedly valuable along His partnership… Which He entrusts as our responsibility against worldliness’ friendship While training our submissive holiness-workmanship With His righteous leadership. Our fruitful worship to God extols our spirituality! Such is a priority actually purposive along His purity… Which He accounts for our Christianity against standards’ laxity While proving our surrendered willingness-humility With His majestic sovereignty.
Church Bulletin
I
f there is anything that is distorted in churches today, it is the matter of worship. We hear the call from churches around the world to come and worship as you please. It doesn’t matter (so they say) how you dress, how you act, or how you live, as long as you feel good. I suggest, though, that we are not to be so concerned about feeling good as we are about following God. We are to follow after that which is right. We are reminded in 2 Peter 2:15 of some in the Old Testament who went astray, and the Life Application Bible makes this observation: “Like the false teachers of Peter’s day, Balaam used religion for personal advancement, a sin that God does not take lightly.” If you attend church simply to feel good or to look good to friends or family you attend with the wrong motive. What you engage in is not true worship in God’s eyes. Jeremiah pours out his heart for the wayward condition of those who were corporately engaging in so-called worship (Jeremiah 23:9-29). Through his response to the idolatrous hearts of the people we can see how corporate worship in God’s house should be: true corporate worship is motivated by an appreciation of God’s holiness. Many today want to “dumb down” God’s holiness. They try to tell us we don’t have to be any different from the world. There doesn’t have to be any marked difference in the way we walk, in the way we talk, in the way we rear our children, in the places we go. Yet the God that we serve is not like one of us. Psalm 50:21 declares: “These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.” The way that we appreciate God’s holiness in our lives is first through our attitude. We do not visit God’s house to fill our heads with facts. We should go with the desire to be drawn closer to God by being in His house; with a desire to change, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to become more holy like Him. We ought to look forward to coming to a spiritual oasis where we can put aside all of the ungodliness that goes on in the world and surround ourselves with brothers and sisters in Christ who
How does your heart respond when you see a society that is bent on hedonism? When you see people around you who are concerned only with their own selves? Jeremiah took note when he saw the people disregarding and disrespecting the holiness of God and it caused him to tremble: “All my bones shake; ... because of the Lord, because of the words of his holiness” (Jeremiah 23:9). When we come to God’s house and look into His Word, as we are reminded of His instructions for each one of us and see His desires for us, are we truly stirred, is our desire increased to draw closer to Jesus Christ? Our appreciation of God’s holiness ought to be reflected not only in our attitudes but also in our actions. It does us no good to have a desire to attend church to sing, give our offering, and hear God’s Word preached if we know in our hearts that we are continuing in sin. It’s not what others around us see, but what God knows us to be. It does us no good to go through the motions unless we really want our actions to mirror the holiness of our God. Psalm 51:17 reminds us: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” When we come together as an assembled body of believers in a local church, we should be made quite uncomfortable if we have known sin in our life. We should become so miserable under the convicting hand of the Holy Spirit that our response can only be to make things right with God. As we draw closer to Him and have a greater appreciation of His holiness, we will begin to see ourselves for what we really are apart from Him—selfish and prideful individuals. Many of our churches today underestimate who God really is, trying to make Him “one of us.” We refer to Him as “the man upstairs” or “the good guy.” Wait a minute: God is almighty! He is true righteousness. All of our righteousnesses are like “filthy rags” by comparison. God is not as one of us. God is far above us. God, as the Creator of the universe, could with a mere thought cause us to cease to exist if He so desired. Praise God that He is longsuffering and patient with us and gives us the opportunity to be made righteous in Him. Are we concerned about His righteousness? Are we concerned about having the correct biblical response to Him? Are we concerned about obeying Him? As we understand and appreciate God’s holiness we will show our appreciation through a contrite heart and broken spirit and by our obedience to Him in the way that we live. Then we can truly engage in Christ-honoring worship.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
