from your Pastor “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psalm 122:1). Today, we thank and praise God, not just for welcoming us into His sanctuary, but also for inviting us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. We are grateful that He has granted us the spiritual freedom along with the Christian liberty to come together as a church to glorify Him, to bring to Him our offerings, to read and listen to His Word, and to fellowship with the brethren. With the heavenly blessings and eternal benefits that we are enjoying as God’s children, we should not miss the power of His Word, and the gladness of serving Him, especially in involving in our discipleship program. This October which is the start of this year’s final quarter ushers us to our “Discipleship Training” exposure in our Sunday School classes. Aiming to develop in us the disciple’s desire, decision and determination DR. ED M. LAURENA to follow Jesus Christ, the lessons are prepared and prayed for to assist us in “Making Disciples” more effectively by God’s grace and power. Let us then continually support our discipleship program which is a great help in advancing the kingdom of God and a significant step toward fulfilling the Great Commission. We must always strive to have a part in evangelizing the sinners, edifying the saints, and exalting the Saviour, knowing that such is the will of God.

COUPLES’ BANQUET JOYFULLY HELD

I

N CONJUNCTION WITH the momentous 60th birthday celebration of our dear Pastor's wife, Ma'am Dhel, a royal feasting was held last Sunday night after evening service by way of a Couples and Single Parents’ Banquet dinner. Attended by more than 150 couples and single parents, the event was made even more special by several short candid testimonies, along joyful singing, and interesting games. A hearty devotion about “A Virtuous Woman” by Rev. Rey Calma set the spiritual mood while the special number and the glad singing of the participants delighted everyone. Indeed, the diners enjoyed a great night of fun, food, and fellowship. Let us continually thank the Lord for godly examples of couples and single parents who pave the way for good parenting for us to emulate.

PAGSASANAY

SA MGA TAGASANAY 2 Tim 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)

MINISTRY IN FOCUS

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

S

JUNIOR COLLEGE YOUNG LADIES

G

OD BE PRAISED for the wisdom He has given to our Pastor, Dr. Ed Laurena. In the pursuit of truly meeting the deepest spiritual needs of each one in this congregation, the Sunday School Classes are aimed to be divided into smaller groups. The primary recipient of the good effect of this vision is the College Ladies Class. Last June 2014, such class split into to two bringing forth the birth of the Junior College Ladies Class that is composed of the freshman and sophomore ladies from the secular academe and CBBC’s very own Baptist Heritage Bible College. About forty ladies enthusiastically present themselves in class every morning of Sunday. The three staircases they have to climb to reach the Prophet’s Chamber of the Administration Building where they weekly gather are not a hindrance to express their longing to hear the Word of God imparted by their teacher, Ma’am Judie Grace Cabungcal. By the grace of God, the sweat drops pay off when godly fellowship and good followership began to be manifested. The Holy Spirit worked evidently when products of labor came out as many have become soulwinners and newcomers in the ministry of music, choir and Sunday School. The open forum which they conduct every second Sunday of the month in their evening fellowship helped many ladies to overcome the fear of sharing the Gospel and standing firm in the faith, as they adapt to their new environment. To God be the Glory!

Lord, Thank You For Teaching Us To Teach Others Also Beata B. Agustin

Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your scriptural truthfulness Also by Your righteousness over our selfishness and haughtiness Indeed perfecting us from iniquity-awfulness For Christ-like character of virtuous blessedness So that we can teach others also about persevering toward holiness! “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.”-Isaiah 50:4

T

EACHING DOES NOT necessarily translate to learning at all times. Any foolish person can know the facts, but the point of learning is to understand and actualize. The Greek and Hebrew verbs translated in the Bible as "teach" could frequently be translated as "to cause to learn." In classic Greek literature there is a passage where a man picked up a stone and threw it at a tree; then he explained to his son, "This is how you hold the stone. This is how you extend your arm. Keep your eye on the tree and follow through." The father then said, "Now you show me and I will see if I have caused you to learn." This way of looking at teaching should revive and renew our approach. Instead of getting worked up about how we are going to tell our disciplees what we know, we should begin focusing on how we could get them to learn. That will make us a much better discipler. We need to see this noble task of teaching in this light.

Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your divine leadership Also by Your authority in our relationship and fellowship Indeed guarding us from worldliness-friendship For spiritual endeavor of faithful stewardship So that we can teach others also about following You in discipleship! Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your tender mercy Also by Your correction against our laxity and complacency Indeed disciplining us from indolence-persistency For fruitful service of diligent fervency So that we can teach others also about redeeming time with sense of urgency!

L

Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your ready assistance Also by Your help despite our stubbornness and resistance Indeed drawing us near from communion-distance For ministerial partnership of prayerful stance So that we can teach others also about showing sincerity in repentance!

L

Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your gentle compassion Also by Your love midst our apathy and transgression Indeed forgiving us from complaint-reaction For joyful worship of grateful satisfaction So that we can teach others also about praising You for Your provision!

EARNING TO LIVE. Undaunted by the pressures of a turbulent age in history, the life of the Lord Jesus Christ is a stellar example of a true discipler. He said in Matthew 11:29, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Jesus is the Greatest Teacher who ever lived because He taught by example. It was Benjamin Franklin who said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, show me and I learn.” May we learn to live in such a way that effectual learning of our disciples could be achieved. EARNING TO LOVE. One might claim that loving is the most effortless emotion human beings could ever express in their lifetime. However, anyone who has ever been in relationships would readily agree that there would inevitably come a time when loving would be a deliberate and wilful act. Teaching so others can learn is not a mechanical and ritualistic tirade of words uttered in a discipleship or Bible study session just to accomplish a task. Teaching is partaking in God's most holy work as uttered in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Could we ever love people enough to bind up their wounds? Could we learn to love people, and then this love would cause them to learn from us?

L

EARNING TO LEARN. How does one learn? It is a different experience to each individual, but each person has to decide to learn and the education of a man is never complete until he dies. It has been repeatedly quoted that, “One ceases to live when he ceases to learn.” The Scriptures exhorts us in Romans 15:4, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Learning has to be learned. May we ever learn to speak the words of the wise...for God's honor and glory...for the changed lives of sinful men.

Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your cheerful care Also by Your gladness along our need and welfare Indeed brightening us from gloominess-stare For blissful disposition of contentment-filled share So that we can teach others also about rejoicing midst loneliness’ nightmare! Lord, thank You for teaching us with Your great comfort Also by Your faithfulness beyond our grief and retort Indeed encouraging us from frustration-discomfort For revival-flamed commitment of good report So that we can teach others also about having You as the first and best resort!

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
