VOLUME 23 ISSUE 40 Oct 6

from your Pastor

DR. ED M. LAURENA

What a blessing is it that we are now on the last quarter of the year! It is likewise a great blessing as God has entrusted us another month to learn more about His Word and to serve Him! This month, we focus on continuing while “Looking for the Will of God.” There can be no real success in Christian life apart from God’s will, and we must have the right character to find and follow it. As your pastor, it is my great desire to see all of you, seeking earnestly God’s will for your life. That is why we study God’s Word, because it is the best source where we find God’s will. Whatever our status in life is, God wants to reveal His will for us. Through diligence in studying the Bible and humility to obey, we can all the more learn and appreciate His will for us. He only desires that we be willing to obey it. As our church aims to obey His will by reaching more people for their salvation, may we desire as individual Christians to continue in obeying His will. Have a Spirit-filled Sunday!

Sunday School Outline God’s Will in God’s Word Acts 9:1-6

I. God always guides through His word. A. God’s guidance through His word is provisional to those who are willing to obey. B. God’s guidance through His word is provisional to those who will display a spirit of meekness. C. God’s guidance through His word is provisional to those who will be open and yielded. II. God always guides through His way. A. He guides every believer using His word. B. He grows every believer using His work. C. He gladdens every believer by the working of His Spirit. III. God always guards through His will. A. We have God’s person when we are in His perfect will. B. We have God’s promises when we are in His perfect will. C. We have God’s peace when we are in His perfect will.

Church Bulletin Join us in prayer as well as in preparation for this year’s Conference. We aim to be a help and a blessing to many Baptist pastors and church workers who desire growth spiritually, especially through Sunday School ministry. Much more, every CBBC member must not miss this great event!

Don’t miss a single Sunday of November as we welcome missionaries and pastors and emphasize the importance of local and world missions. Surely, the preachings and testimonies will encourage us more to be a part of our Missions’ program, may it be through going and/or giving.

GOD deserves our best. Through our NEHEMIAH PROJECT FOR GOD'S GLORY, we can give our best. Let us continually fulfill our commitment by His grace.

Aside from our commitments, let us drop some coins in our Sunday School class jar, as an extra investment for this project.

oining the primary department of our children’s Sunday School is the Grade 3 class that averages 100 students who regularly gather at the second floor of the Old Building. Every meeting, the students are led by their five teachers who enthusiastically guide them to memorize verses and learn Bible stories with lessons applicable to them as they grow to be mature Christians. Meanwhile, first time visitors are separated from the regular attendees as the assigned teacher shares with them the Gospel.

As it has always been, the primary aim of the Sunday school teaching ministry is to bring the children into the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, students from the Grade 3 level are exposed to biblical activities and are given varied opportunities for them to have a personal relationship with the Lord, and to grow in His grace and knowledge as well. They are also encouraged to become a part of the juniors’ camp held every year, which is a great spiritual experience that they enjoy before reaching the higher level. Though carrying out this ministry may really be tiring, the great consolation lies in our faith that from the pool of children that the church has today, will come out, in God’s time, the future Christian leaders, pastors, soulwinners, and ministry workers. For all these, to God be the glory.

FINDING GOD'S WILL

F

or countless times in the history of God's people, much perplexity has been expressed trying to find the will of God in their individual and corporate lives. In essence, there is really no mystery to the matter but rather a false expectation associated with seeking it. Often, what God's people really want is the future to be revealed to them. The biblical perspective to this is that we live in the present one step at a time trusting in the Lord, daily living for His glory. Consequently, God then will lead us, direct us, and guide us to what He wants us to do in the future. Romans 12:1 beseeches us to “...present our bodies a living sacrifice...” Christians are to give their very lives to Christ without reservation. Ephesians 5:18 instructs us to be always “filled with the Spirit.” It will be impossible to present our lives as a living sacrifice if we are so inundated and captivated by the deceptive glitters of this decadent society. We are not to be conformed to the prevailing habits, styles and manners of this godless world. We must lose our relish for these things, give up control of our lives or any claim to ourselves and put everything in the hands of God to be used as He desires. We must ALLOW HIM to direct us. Although we act in faith on God's instructions giving ourselves to Him, it is really the “mercies of God” that enable us to live for Him. God Himself will never put us in situations and places where He will not surely sustain us. The HOLY SPIRIT will lead us daily to accomplish what God wills for our lives. We do not need to know a great deal about the future God has for us, however it is vitally important to know what He wants today and do it, then the rest will take care of itself. God's intention for us is “...the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Many deaths must go into reaching that measure, and also many “letting-go’s.” Jim Elliot, the missionary who was killed while ministering in a Cannibals' Tribe in the uncharted

territories of the jungles of Ecuador said that “He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose.” The more we perceive God's purpose in our life, the less terrible the losses seem. That tribe was won for the Lord, but not without death of Jim Elliot and his team. To this day, the generations following the Wadauni Indians are being freed from the bondage of sin and wretchedness. Indeed, he is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose. Finding God's will comes when one lives his life daily for the Lord. lt is revealed as we obey Him. We need to evaluate our lives and through self-examination in the light of God's Word, we determine if we are indeed living in accord with biblical precepts. We then are exhorted to confess and forsake our sins as 1 John 1:9 asserts, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We should not concern ourselves with seeking God's will in the sense of trying to know the future, but rather seek to obey God, and thereby be in the center of His will. The wisest man who ever lived, after looking at the follies and shortcomings of men penned this in Ecclesiastes 12:13, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." We need to realize that God rarely lets us know the future and He has a reason for doing so. God does not want us to work towards accomplishing a known will in the power of our flesh and human instrumentation, but rather being dependent on Him and letting Him bring about that which He wills in our lives. Acts 17:28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being;...” Then, what will be accomplished will honor the Lord and He will be able to use us to reach others for Christ. To God be all the glory and honor and power.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
