from your Pastor We are so privileged to have God’s Word at work in our individual lives and in our beloved church. As your Pastor, together with God-sent preachers who are instruments of proclaiming His truths, I can attest that we have a church with believers who are striving to do God’s will because of the power of His Word. “For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe” (I Thessalonians 2:13). To God be the glory for His Word that is continually preached in our pulpit to instruct us with His wisdom about His ways for us to walk through His watch care and to worship Him for His wondrous works. We praise the Lord likewise for His Scriptures that teach us His precepts and statutes for us not to waver in our spiritual well-being and not to be weary in well-doing. May we always respond to His Word DR. ED M. LAURENA and to the preaching of the Bible with the realization, revival, and resolution to abide in Him. Knowing that the Word of God is “quick and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12), and that it accomplishes that which He pleases, and it prospers in the thing whereto He sends it (Isaiah 55:11), we must obey by His grace and enabling. Let us then enjoy listening to the preaching of His Word today, as we worship Him in spirit and in truth, and allow Him to help us apply those principles in our daily activities for His honour.

T WAS INDEED a night of pleasure for the Faculty of Baptist Heritage Bible College last Monday, October 6, when the student body just let them sit back and relax while some selected students took charge of the program during the special Chapel Service. The two-hour treat was packed with joyful singing and excitement as surprise numbers were presented. The audience took delight in listening to testimonies of students who, by the grace of God, are able to continue because they have teachers who encourage and serve as examples to them. Meanwhile, blessings overflew when the Preaching Marathon commenced. The first two speakers were from this year’s graduating class. Bro. Alvrich Mirasol and Bro. Ramil Guardian delivered messages which persuaded the students to thank God for godly teachers whose influences and values are never to be compared to the achievements of the highest-paid professionals in the secular world. The third speaker, Bro. Norman Gagni, an alumnus from graduating batch of 2013, considered his mentors as teachers that came from God, as inspired by how Nicodemus addressed the Lord Jesus in John 3:2. These exhortations seemed to be a prelude to a gracefilled message by Preacher Jerry Villasanta, the main speaker for the event. He boosted the spirits of the teachers through Nehemiah 6:1-4 to continue in doing the rewarding work of teaching, discipling and passing on the heritage of Christian laboring. Shortly after the invitation which was facilitated by the College President, Dr. Ed Laurena, a humor-tickling skit was presented, plus a concluding thanksgiving poem rendered by students from CBBC-Bauan. As a token, each member of the faculty went home with a body massage oil to aid a little comfort during stressful days of teaching. Truly, the students felt that they cannot thank God enough for granting them instructors and godly patterns in serving the Lord with joy. To God be the Glory!
PAGTATANGHAL NG MGA MAG-AARAL NG BHBC, MATAGUMPAY NA IDINAOS
A
LIGHTHOUSE SAILORS
MINISTRY HELD REORGANIZATION FELLOWSHIP
“Jesus Christ is the Master of the sea, the Master of our souls, and the Lighthouse of our lives.” Thus is the anchoring belief of the Lighthouse Sailors Ministry that was formed in 1997 through our Pastor to meet the spiritual needs of the Christian seafarers, especially the members of the church and their families. Last September 26, about 20 seafarers and their family members gathered together for a “reunion” fellowship. With the initiative of our Pastor who called for a special meeting, the said mariners responded with excitement since they really yearned that their group would be a blessing and a help to the Church. Such aim according to them could be reached through their teamwork in maximizing ministry effectiveness to serve the seafar-
ing community, specifically in reaching their fellow mariners and their families with the Gospel of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and in providing regular Christian fellowship to seafarers who are away from home and their loved ones left behind. Along with that goal is their objective to support the programs and activities of the Church with their resources. During the fellowship, Dr. Ed preached on “Seeking the Lord First” based on Matthew 6:33. He asserted that seafarers should make God and His will their priority, as they allow themselves to be used by the Lord in sharing the Gospel while onboard the ships. It is the prayer of this group that all seafarers of the church and their families will be involved in the fulfilment of the Great Commission. For those who have queries regarding the said ministry, they can approach Bro. Joseph Aguilar and/or Bro. Greg Platon.
T
HE PERPETUAL NEED for the proclamation of the Gospel ensures the continuing need for Bible preachers. Though many problems confront Christian churches today, one of the direst needs is the availability of trained and spirit-filled men to preach the Word of God. Timothy was told to transmit that which had been committed to him, "…to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Tim. 2:2).
If we truly are burdened for the souls of men, we can readily see the need for faithful and committed preachers. This must cause us to begin giving more attention to the urgency of training men to preach. Every preacher must have a strong commitment to his duty as a preacher. However, many promising young men never become preachers simply because they never get the encouragement to prepare themselves to preach.
HE HOME AS A PROMOTING SCHOOL. Frequently the reason why young men do not devote themselves to preaching is because they do not get the encouragement and the necessary training at home. Hannah planned from Samuel's birth that he should be the Lord's servant as attested in 1 Samuel Chapter 1. Timothy was trained by his mother and grandmother from his childhood as affirmed in 2 Tim. 1: 3-5, “...When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois...” The initial encouragement for young men to preach the gospel should come from godly and consecrated parents whose greatest delight would be to see their son devote his life to faithful preaching. HE CHURCH AS A PREACHING SCHOOL. It is a tragedy that many Baptist churches in the Christian circles which have been ministered unto by a preacher in fulltime service for a score or more years never have produced one preacher. It could be that the reason is lack of emphasis in the pulpit about the nobility of this highest calling of preaching God's most holy Word. Separated by eras of Christianity, Samuel and Timothy, were both trained in the Church premises and supervision of church elders. We praise God that in our time today, CBBC pulpit has never wavered in this emphasis. To date, we see preachers who are products of the church as a preaching school. HE CHURCH AS A PRACTICING SCHOOL. This is the scriptural practice of utilizing a young man in a training program as he works alongside a more experienced preacher. We must encourage young preachers to enjoy serving with us and to strive progressing in the work of the Lord. Unfortunately, churches sometimes think only in terms of what a preacher can do for them, rather than in terms of what they can do to help prepare a young preacher. Without doubt, having a young preacher to assist in the local work will be a benefit to any congregation. However, the most important phase of work will be the preparation and the experience of the performance of God’s power to be gained by the young preacher. Proper training and practice of young preachers will lead to the development of more and abler young men who will continue to preach the Gospel even after their mentors are long gone to be with the Lord. Let us think not only of what a young preacher may do for us, but we must think of what we may do to help encourage and prepare young preachers.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
