from your Pastor

DR. ED M. LAURENA

“God is able to make all grace abound towards you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (II Corinthians 9:8). Thus saith the Lord, which is a great source of encouragement for us in hosting our annual Missions’ Conference along with our Frontliners’ Convention with the theme, “Thank You for Giving to the Lord.” Believing that the Missions’ Conference is a great work that focuses on advancing God’s kingdom, populating heaven and strengthening churches, we really need God’s grace for it to succeed. We thank God Who always supplies His abounding grace to us so we can fully participate in this event and wholeheartedly involve for its victory. The Lord be praised likewise for preparing us for our conference-endeavour through timely messages which are assertions, affirmations and attestations of the need to support God’s work. Meanwhile, our November Sunday School lessons are reinforcements of the declaration that “Discipleship Promotes Missions,” which is our theme this month. Let us learn and gain from the Bible, as we strive to be doers, not just hearers of God’s Word. Let us then make ourselves available in the said spiritual meeting that presents and discusses heavenly matters and eternal business of priceless investments, particularly the effective and fruitful fulfilment of the Great Commission. We must be excited to meet missionaries, pastors and workers in the Lord’s vineyard. As the host church, we should joyfully testify of God’s grace, love and power that are making us blessed to be a blessing.

CBBA HONOUR STUDENTS FOR SECOND QUARTER CONDUCTED PLANT TOURS

A

S A SUPPORTIVE role to CBBA’s instructional program, an educational field trip for the honour students for this second quarter of the Academic Year 2014-15 was conducted. Such trip through a recreational and productive spatial activity was acknowledged as a much deserved incentive. Over 60 students guided by the teachers trooped to two ISO (International Organization for Standardization) –certified food manufacturing plants as a learning opportunity last October 28, Tuesday in Mamplasan, Biñan, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The tour afforded the group a glimpse of the systematic production process of a clean manufacturing line as well as a camaraderie with the tour guides. Then half of the day was scheduled for recreational activities like swimming, games, basic zip-lining, and trekking through a mini-wildlife park within Pansol, Laguna. We praise God for helping us continually strive for academic achievement while preserving Biblical education within the curriculum. May the Lord be pleased with all our endeavours.

Brethren, we are all encouraged to attend and involve in our

MISSIONS’ CONFERENCE for the glory of God, specifically for the following reasons anchored on Matthew 28:18-20:

. To learn from God’s Word as it convicts us to have a personal response and decision to share the Gospel, win souls to the Lord, be active in discipleship, and support missions

3

. To enable us to participate in our church’s endeavor to fulfill the Great Commission nationwide and globally

. To listen to missionaries’ testimonies and be blessed with God’s work in their lives as they give report on what they are doing in their respective mission fields . To meet and fellowship with missionaries whom we are praying for, and be inspired by their lives, and to encourage them likewise

7

. To show our support to our Pastor as he leads us to establish more mission works, and as he chooses the missionaries to help through God’s guidance.

Mapagpalang Ipinagdiwang ang Missions’ Conference sa Taiwan

S

THE BLESSINGS OF DISCIPLESHIP

I

THANK AND praise God for His greatness in my life. God saved me and caused me to follow in water baptism at a very young age. Since then, He has been training me and equipping me to become one of His servants that I am today. In Bible Baptist Church, Malaybalay City where I was baptized, Pastor Ludy Samayla taught me how I could be able to develop my relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His personal testimony discipled me on how to become a good follower of Jesus Christ. In 1998, God then led me to Los Baños, Laguna to study in college. He placed me in the Christian Bible Baptist Church-Los Baños where I was discipled through the ministry of Baptist Youth Sowers for Christ (BYSC), also a youth ministry inside the campus. God used able and spiritual people to disciple and mentor to me to become a better and a more effective Christian. He put me in the ministry as a choir member and officer of BYSC. There, I was trained to love the lost and help other believers to grow in their Christian lives while I was developing my own. While I was enjoying the ministry in Los Baños, working as a professional, God called me in the full-time ministry-work in 2006. I then surrendered my life to God and studied in Baptist Heritage Bible College in San Pedro, Laguna. I praise God for letting me see clearly His calling in my life as I was being trained in BHBC. I also thank God for the leadership of Dr. Ed Laurena and for the other people who selflessly surrendered to the Lord‘s ministry so that others like me can grow and mature in the faith. Likewise, I thank God for those who took time to pray for me and correct me and gave their lives as a living testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness. With the trainings that I have undergone and the teachings that I have learned in CBBC San Pedro while in BHBC, I was able to acknowledge and regard the relevance of discipleship and mentoring which every Christian must observe. Blessed be God for BBC Malaybalay City, CBBC Los Banos and CBBC San Pedro, for my mentors, and our Pastor for discipling me. To God be all the glory for such discipleship that has ushered me to where I am now, and to be entrusted by our Pastor the CBBC Thailand Outreach as the preacher. I am joyfully serving God together with my wife, Jonalyn and our two year-old daughter, Dorcas. Please include us in your prayers as we strive to sow seeds of the Word of God here in Bangkok and by His guidance be able to disciple others to become the Christians God wants them to be. Indeed, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.” I Timothy 1:12

PNPA BAPTIST CADETS HELD REVIVAL SERVICE

EFORE THE FIRST semester came to its conclusion, 85 Baptist Cadets joined the Revival Service facilitated last October 19, 2014 at the PNPA Worship Place. Headed by Outreach Preacher Ronnie Delfin, the special occasion was to direct the congregation to Dr. Ed’s vision of establishing future godly Baptist leaders. By the preaching anchored in Isaiah 53, given to them through Preacher Pops Villarosa, the cadets must have been charged to continue in church attendance and soulwinning as most of them were given the privilege to visit home this vacation. After the service proper was a luncheon fellowship enjoyed by everyone. To God be the glory!

Why Seek Ye The Living Among The Dead? “And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,”- Luke 24:5-6

A

S THE MAJORITY of the world celebrates the commemoration of the dead, the Scriptural account in the Book of Luke exalts a Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ that is enjoyed by all genuine believers in Christ.

R

EDIRECTS US FROM DEATH TO LIFE. A life lived apart from the belief of Christ’s resurrection is really just a slow death. So many people simply live to die, and some are dying to live; but the resurrection meant for us to live a life that is really alive. We do not visit tombs to meet with God. We attend Church to meet with God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Resurrection and the Life. If we listen and receive God’s Word, it reorients us from death to life. It calls us to seek the living Savior and the life He gives.

R

EDIRECTS US FROM THE CROSS TO THE RESURRECTION. There is something magnificent beyond the Cross that gives the Cross its glory. Our faith should not remain stuck on tragedy of the Cross without the triumph of the Resurrection. The women in this account of Luke were exhorted by the angels to look for Jesus among the resurrected living, and we, too, must look to Jesus in the resurrection that is to come. We must live this life correspondingly as people who will be raised to life again.

R

EDIRECTS US FROM CURRENT EVENTS TO GOD’S PROVIDENCE. In verse 7, the truth “…Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men…” assures us that God’s providence is at work. The invisible hand of God is bringing about things that must happen according to His plan. The resurrection above all other events reminds us to look for God’s providence in history. God’s providence teaches us that history is not a blind, aimless march into nothingness and meaninglessness. History is the recorded orchestration of God’s work in redeeming man through the Cross and Resurrection of our Lord.

R

EDIRECTS US FROM THE LAW TO THE GOSPEL. The resurrection turns us from Law-keeping to Gospel-believing. The resurrection turns us from self-righteousness to trust in Jesus’ righteousness. The resurrection turns us from trying to earn God’s love by our good deeds to accepting freely God’s love as a gift through faith in His Son. The resurrection turns us from the death that the Law requires to the eternal life that Jesus bestows as a gift.

R

EDIRECTS US FROM GRIEF TO JOY. Jesus is alive and is not dead. All who trust in Him have the supreme reason to rejoice as 1 Peter 1:3 affirms, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” The question, “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” intimates that Christ, though he had been dead, is now living, and not to be sought for in a sepulcher; nor is Christ to be found among dead sinners, or lifeless professors, but among living saints, and among the churches of the living God. Indeed, life can never be found among the dead works of the law, nor to be obtained by lifeless performances on the dead letter of the law. This account should gloriously redirect our vision to the work of missions…to proclaim the living Christ among the dead sinners.

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
