from your Pastor

DR. ED M. LAURENA

By this time of the year, preparations for Christmas season are already felt, along with the cold weather, various gifts, Christmas lights, bright lanterns and even cheerful carolling everywhere. Countdowns to the end of the year are also evident. It seems that many people are excited to make a brand new start. They prepare much, perhaps for their family, work or just for self. While all those are not bad, every Christian must always be reminded of a greater priority. We must all be prepared for the “Rapture, the return of Christ. We must be sure that we and our loved ones are heavenbound. We must be prepared that when that happens, we are happily doing the will of God in our lives. We must be joyful together with our family in serving the Lord. We must be sure we have invested greater things in Heaven. It will be a sad day when we have prepared much for Christmas and New Year, but have failed to prepare for His return. Let us keep on being faithful in serving God! Have a great Sunday!

RAPTURE: A GLORIOUS

MEETING IN THE

AIR "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout...Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words" 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.

Never before in history have we seen so much effort being put forth to break down all the barriers of national, cultural, racial, and denominational borders. Just as it was prior to the Great Flood chronicled in Noah's time and before the confounding of humanity's language in the Tower of Babel, mankind has never stopped in attempting to unite toward loyalty to man's leadership; and thus, rebellion against God. Even though the term “Rapture” is not exactly found in the Bible, the context is most assuredly found in the Scriptures. The Bible declares fully well that those of us, the true believers of Christ's redemptive power in the Cross of Calvary, who will still be alive in Christ's Second Coming will be caught up to meet our Creator and Saviour Jesus Christ in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). As controversial as it may seem, the “Rapture of the Saints” will precede the appearing of the Anti-Christ by way of the seven sinister years of Tribulation as was declared in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. This is a blessed comfort and appeasement for us. During the “Rapture,” the true believers of Jesus Christ, the dead and the living, will be translated and transformed into their glorified bodies and be with the Lord through all eternity. It will definitely be a glad reunion day. The Scripture has testified through an angel in Acts 1:11 “Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Indeed, that the same Jesus our Lord will come back as He had left...in the cloud of glory. However, those who have not trusted Jesus Christ and Saviour will be left behind to face the severity of the Great Tribulation as the Anti-Christ prepares to take his place as the Beast in the half of the 7-year period. This may seem surreal to the common-thinking public but all this must come to pass as so vividly penned in God's inerrant and infallible Word. By now, we must understand that during Christ's first coming through His birth in Bethlehem, He came FOR his own...for the salvation of this sinful world. We are at a juncture where we are anticipating the first phase of His Second Advent to which He will come TO His own...to fetch His dear saved people and meet them lifted up. The Rapture is one of the most incredible and fascinating events which will transpire at Christ's Second Coming. It is mostly unbelievable to unregenerate minds and the great minds of our time will even cloak this in the form of alien abduction or other extra-terrestrial activity. It is one thing to wait for the Lord's coming, and it is quite another to watch for this momentous event. We must consider this warning exhortation, “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation” (1 Thessalonians 5:6-8). Are we living, loving, and leading others to the same hope which we have of Christ? May we truly be ready for the Coming of the Lord. May we ever be waiting with an attitude of watchfulness. Let us have an urgency of seizing the time that is allotted to us and use it for magnifying and proclaiming Christ wherever we go. That glorious day, we all shall see Jesus as the King of kings and LORD of Lords. That glorious day, all doubts will be laid and the Lord will be seen high and lifted up. To God be all honor and glory and dominion and power forever and ever through timeless eternity.

Bible Reading

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
