from your Pastor

DR. ED M. LAURENA

During this week of Christmas season, thousands of gifts certainly will be given and received. The atmosphere will be filled with excitement as many wait for what they would receive. The spirit of generosity will surely be felt; but may we not forget the real reason of the season, our Saviour was born. Though the Bible does not indicate that Jesus Christ was born on December 25, may we use this season to remind us of the Saviour and our gift to the One who gave His life for us. While we know that God owns everything already, I believe that the best gift we can give Him is a life faithfully and fully surrendered to Him. Since Christ bought us with His precious blood, it is just right that we let Him lead our lives. Just as what our Sunday School lesson teaches us, there will come a day that we will give account personally to Him. What a joy if we would hear the “Well Done! commendation from the great Creator. Let this Christmas and the New Year to come be an opportunity to show that God is the King of our lives! A Blessed Christmas season to all!

At the Crowning Day Succeeding the rapture, the next big event in heaven will be the trial of the saints facing the Judgment Seat of Christ, while simultaneously on earth is the Great Tribulation for those who rejected Jesus as their Saviour. Our toiling in this life will be judged not as how we have technically done wrong but how we have intended to accomplish all. There shall be neither excuses nor exemptions. Everyone’s attendance is a must as our works shall be known openly. There shall be neither replay nor rewind of those things which we have done in selfish motives and stubborn desires, so as to make them right. There shall be neither debate nor discussions as to what rewards we will receive. Crowns shall be handed over to us not to be worn but to be laid at the feet of Jesus. Let us not slack like Dr. Martin Neimoller, a German pastor during the time of Adolf Hitler's reign. Neimoller was sent to prison for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Before

being sent to prison Neimoller had a 30-minute visit with Adolf Hitler. Hitler tried to persuade Neimoller to join his forces and turn from the foolishness of Christianity. For thirty minutes they discussed philosophy and the ideology of politics. Neimoller would not give up his living faith in Jesus so Hitler sent him to prison. Years later Neimoller was released from prison. He testified his visions wherein he saw Hitler talking to God before being sent to hell. Neimoller was standing off to the side watching their course of their conversation. In his dream he saw Christ turn to Hitler and say, "What is your excuse for all your crimes?" In reply Hitler says: "No one told me the Gospel." At the crowning day, Neimoller will be accountable for the loss of the 30 minutes, not sharing with an influential man the message of God’s love. So shall God also try us at that time. Let us avoid shedding tears in heaven, regretting the deeds which we should have, would have, and could have done. The LORD searches the heart; tries the reins and even gives every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings (Jer . 17:10). As year 2014 is about to enter, the best thing is that we can still maximize the time that we have now to be faithful and pure in motives, hence applying our hearts into wisdom as we number our days (Ps. 90:12).

Celebrate Jesus:

The Reason for the Season L The Christmas season is truly one of "the most wonderful times of the year." So much goes on during the Christmas season. It is one of the most enjoyable but busy times of the year. Retail stores are packed with people beginning Black Friday and ending around the New year. People are rushing to finish up deadlines before the Christmas vacations. Students are trying to get all their work done before Christmas break so that they do not have homework during their two weeks of no school. Churches are busy practicing for Christmas cantatas and Christmas musicals. Townspeople are busy finding the perfect Christmas tree to put in their living room. People are busy decorating their houses with lights and reindeer and snowmen and so many other items. Wives, moms and grandmas are busy pulling out all their recipies for homemade breads, pies, cakes, and cookies. Christmas is such a great time of the year. I love every part of it from the shopping to the cooking to visiting of family to singing of Christmas carols to the decorating of the house. I Love It all!!!!!!! Although Christmas is one of the funnest and most enjoyable times of the year, the sad part is that Someone gets left out so often in all the Christmas planning. What makes it even more sad is that the Person Who gets left out if the Person Whom the holiday is all about. This Person I speak of is Jesus Christ. Christmas is not all about shopping, decorating, cooking, vacationing, visiting. Christmas is about a Person and that Person is Jesus Christ. We celebrate His birth on Christmas. Nobody enjoys having his birthday come around and having nobody take the time to say "Happy Birthday" or at least recognize him in some way. I believe that Jesus is so much the more. Jesus is the REASON for the SEASON!!!!! Since Jesus is what Christmas is all about, how can we take the time to show Him that He truly is the Reason for the Season? 1. Take time to thank Jesus for being born that Christmas morning. If Jesus never came to earth, there would be no Christmas. If He never came, there would never be a Calvary and we

would not enjoy the blessing of salvation. Thank Him for coming. Because He came, lived, died, and rose again, salvation was made possible. 2. Take time to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus on Christmas day (although this is not the exact date of Jesus' birth according to factual historical accounts). We all enjoy having people sing Happy Birthday to us on our birthday. Take time to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus because we are celebrating His birth after all. 3. Take time to make Jesus a cake or a pie for His birthday. I love cake, especially birthday cakes. This is just another was to make Jesus' birthday special. 4. Take precious time to praise Jesus through Church this Christmas season. It is always a good time to attend church especially during the Christmas season. I believe a Christian should attend church whenever the doors are open; I believe even more strongly that the Christmas season should be a time to fully get plugged into church and its ministries. Take time to get to Church. 5. Tell other people "Merry Christmas.". We are living in a society that is trying to remove Christ and God from about everything. I am sick and tired of hearing "Season's Greeting" and "Happy Holidays." Stop trying to be politically correct and just say MERRY CHRISTMAS! (AMEN) 6. Read the Christmas story prior to opening Christmas gifts Jesus comes before presents. Take time to read the story of how Christ was born prior to opening gifts. It is just a way to show Jesus that He is first. 7. Have a part in the Christmas offering at your church This is often called a "Christmas gift to Jesus" offering at many churches. We all spend money to get gifts for one another. This Christmas, set aside some money to give Jesus a Christmas gift. 8. Decorate your house with some type of manger scene. 9. Live as a Christian should this Christmas season and all year-round. There is no better gift you can give Jesus this Christmas than living like a Christian. This Christmas, let the world see Jesus in you as you are a true believer of Jesus Christ.

The Judgment

Seat of

Christ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. -2 Cor. 5:10

The declaration in the Scriptural passage of 2 Corinthians 5:10 tells us ahead of time..."For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." It is very crucial to emphasize that this applies to the truly saved believers of the Lord Jesus Christ. The judgment here is otherwise called as the Bema Judgment originating back from the Bema Seat at Corinth. Bema is a Greek term meaning "judgment seat." In the city of Corinth, a stone platform was constructed to support the Bema seat (judgment seat) of the local officials. The seat was used to give out awards to athletes for their competitive performances (usually a crown wreath of leaves), but also to address legal charges brought against individuals. The great Apostle Paul was quite familiar with this seat. This is where he was brought before Gallio, who was the proconsul of Achaia at the Bema seat (Acts 18:12). This seat was also what Paul referred to in 2 Corinthians 5:9-11 as the "judgment seat of Christ." The Scripture explains to us that this is where we, the Christians will receive an evaluation or inspection for the works done in the entirety of our lives as God's children, whether good or evil. The Judgment of believers will occur immediately following the rapture of the Saints. While the Lord Almighty is pouring His terrible wrath on those left behind on earth by way of the Great Tribulation, the saved believers of Christ will be in heaven being examined for works done on earth conforming and living up to Christ's image and the valuable deeds one does to enrich others' lives and proclaiming the Gospel that only Jesus saves souls. The Judgment Seat of Christ is for the sinners made righteous by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. They will be judged according to their works to determine the degree of reward that will be received. Each of our works and deeds will be tried by fire to prove if it was made by gold, silver, and precious stones, or it is made by hay or stubble which will ultimately burn. Meanwhile, those sinners who were not made righteous because of their unbelief in the Person of Christ and His Power to save their soul from Hell will likewise be judged. They will be judged according to their works to determine the degree of damnation that they will receive. Revelation 20:11-13 warns, "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them...And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." These are two differing Judgments-The Bema and the Great White Throne-and we are assured of their certainty and accuracy. For a child of God, this is not a question of the permanence of Salvation but an exposition of lives lived worthy with His grace, by His power and for His glory. We are challenged in 1 John 2:28 "And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming." Our victory or failure as a Christian will echo to the generations that will follow us and it will determine our highest joys and disgraceful shame once we stand before the Lord to give account of either our fervency or hypocrisy in our Christian walk. May we ever aim to receive God's glorious crowns and affirmation, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
