from your Pastor
DR. ED M. LAURENA
For victoriously allowing us to experience HIS love, faithfulness, grace, and mercy this 2013, GOD deserves our expression of gratitude, along our life of obedience always, toward and even beyond 2014. Thus, our great and good God deserves our wholehearted praises with this truth in Revelation 7:12, “…Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” Indeed, we thank Him for His accomplishments in our lives through His work in our spiritual faith-growth, continuous church-involvement, ardent prayer-participation, generous Nehemiah project-contribution, dedicated soulwinning-endeavor, and zealous Great commissionsupport. As Your Pastor, I truly thank and praise God for the privilege to lead a church with members like you who love God, His church, His work, His children, and even the lost. Together, let us continue abiding in His will, and be determined to fulfill His discipleship-pursuits this 2014. I also would like to enjoin you all to come on January 1 for our New Year’s Service to worship Him in spirit and in truth, to fellowship with one another, to listen to reports on God’s achievements in and through our church, and to pray for our next program this 2014. Let’s have a Spirit-filled service today, and a blessed new year ahead with God’s guidance and power!!!

God’s Unfailing Presence
Dear Master, for this coming year Just one request I bring: I do not pray for happiness, Or any earthly thing— I do not ask to understand The way Thou leadest me, But this I ask: Teach me to do The thing that pleaseth Thee.
Another year I enter Its history unknown; Oh, how my feet would tremble To tread its paths alone! But I have heard God’s whisper, I know I shall be blest; "My presence shall go with thee, And I will give thee rest."
I want to know Thy guiding voice, To walk with Thee each day. Dear Master, make me swift to hear And ready to obey. And thus the year I now begin A happy year will be— If I am seeking just to do The thing that pleaseth Thee. --Unknown Author
What will the New Year bring me? I may not, must not know; Will it be love and rapture, Or loneliness and woe? Hush! Hush! I hear God’s whisper; I surely shall be blest; "My presence shall go with thee, And I will give thee rest." --Unknown Author
In the Absence of the Devil
Motivations for the New Year New Year's Prayer Desires
Just One Request
W
hile the year 2013 is coming to a close, it is wise for us as God's blessed people to evaluate the accomplishments of our God-given goals and the maturity (or lack thereof) in our spiritual walk with God. It is an encouragement to see if many of those goals are done and a challenge to strive stronger if we have fallen short. The beginning of the year always holds a promise and a hope of better days. It gives us all a chance of a fresh start, a new life to be lived for God's glory. 1 Corinthians 10:31expresses, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." In Luke 14, Jesus certainly taught the purpose for goals: to consider the future and to set wise and reachable goals. Jesus encouraged the disciples to "count the cost" before making any future plans and to consider the conse-
quences of those goals. To reach God-honoring goals for the coming new year 2014 requires that we have the right motivation. Some set spiritual goals by reading the Bible just to say, "I have read the Bible through the year." Some set intellectual goals to get a better job or make more money. Others set physical goals of diet and exercise so they can look great or feel stronger. Some might work harder to please their boss or to get a good review and promotion. Spouses and parents may even devote more quality time for each other to cultivate a bonded relationship. While all these are good motives, they may neglect the primary motivation of our lives as Christians. Without an eternal purpose, all other temporal motivators will fizzle out within a few weeks or months. Biblical goals demand eternal motivations. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, the Apostle Paul uses activities that are so
Isaiah 24 : 21, 22 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Remember the blame game in Genesis 3:12-13. When God was in the garden and asked Adam who told him he was naked, the man pointed his finger at the woman. When, afterwards, Eve was asked about what she had done she exclaimed that it was the serpent (representing the devil) that beguiled her, so she did eat. Oh, how easily we blame the devil when have done wrong! Definitely, he diligently does his job of deceiving the people; and he works not just overtime, but all the time. The presence of Satan on Earth complicates the nature of man’s sin problem today. What about in the Millennial Reign of Christ, when Satan and his angels will be bound for a period of one thousand years? In the absence of the Devil and his influence, and in contrast to the righteous reign
routine, things we do several times each day so we don't miss the point. How many times during this holiday that we have mindlessly eaten foods and drunk something without regard to the glory of God by way of our physical goals? Without God as the ever-conscious motivator and His Glory as the eternal and primary motivation, all of our plans will either wither away, or falsely succeed with a prideful self-motivation that misses the real reason we try to achieve anything in life, Philippians 1:21 says, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." As we ponder on the closing year and embark on the coming one, it is only needful that we ask ourselves, “Am I being motivated at this moment toward this goal primarily because I desire to bring glory to God ( Isaiah 43:7 ) as I reach it?” Let us all have a blessed New Year ahead.
of Christ, the manifestation of man’s sin nature will become much more apparent and predictable. During the Millennium, no one will be able to say, “The Devil made me do it!” On the contrary, the only thing anyone will be able to say about his/her wickedness will be, “Yes, I did it.” Indeed, in this period, man shall be tested and displayed for what it truly is and man's total depravity will clearly be demonstrated apart from any interference or influence from Satan whatsoever (Romans 3:9-18). Let the spiritual man overcome by continually acknowledging the commandment of the Lord Who carries the government upon His shoulder, being King and the Ruler of the Millennial Kingdom. Everything will be made right as He judges the nations in the beginning of His reign. The sheep will be separated from the goats as Matthew 25:31-46 accounts. Let us then now step by faith to make every good work genuine, love the brethren and learn to do everything in the fear of the Lord! Shall we wait for the Millennial reign until we do these so? No! As Christians, who will reign with Christ, let us do more for Him today and assume His trust for a position in His supremacy for one thousand years in the future.
GENUINE CHRISTIANS ARE TO
REIGN FOR EVER Imagine a world ruled by a perfect, glorious Ruler, the LORD Jesus Christ. Our sovereign God knows the future and is in control of it. Whatever happens in that day and time will be in His plan and under His control.
I
magine a world dominated by righteousness and goodness, a world where there is no injustice. Imagine a world where what is true, right, and noble marks every aspect of life. Imagine a world where there is complete, total, enforced, and permanent peace. Imagine a world where the curse is removed, where the environment is restored to the pristine purity of the Garden of Eden...Imagine... "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years."-Revelation 20:4. John, the apostle was privileged to have seen into the future and beheld the glorious day we all long for-the day when Christ returns and establishes His kingdom on this earth. It is impossible for us to comprehend what it will be like to see Jesus face-to-face. However, the Scripture declares that Jesus will come again. In the second phase of His second advent, He will come with His saints after the Crowning day and take up residency on earth. This time, however, He will come not as a babe in a manger but as the Ruler and King of all creation! The peace that has escaped the world thus far will be the benchmark of the thousand-year reign of Christ known as the "Millennial Kingdom." This phrase, which originated from the Latin words 'Mille' (1000) and 'Annum' (year), refers to a future period when Jesus Christ reigns over an earthly kingdom for 1000 years. Satan will be bound, and Christ will be in-charge. When the apostle wrote, "They lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years," he referred to a literal one-thousand-year period of time on earth. Scripturally, the second coming of Christ will occur before the Millennial-the thousand-year reign of Christ. The present age will end suddenly when Christ appears. At that time, the unbelievers in Christ will be judged in the 'White Throne Judgment,' the righteous will be rescued by way of 'The Rapture' and brought to 'Crowning Day' in the 'Judgment Seat of Christ,' and Satan will be bound. Furthermore, God will pick up where He left off in His dealings with Israel. In the biblical scheme of things, Israel and the church are two distinct entities. The Jewish nation will be restored-including the repossession of their ancient land when Christ returns to earth. A theocratic kingdom will be established, and those who have died "in Christ" will be raised to share in the blessings of this time. The Old Testament is replete with prophecies that predict this like Isaiah 24:21-23 "...Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously." The Millennial Kingdom is a demonstration of what life on this Earth would have been had man not rebelled in the Garden of Eden, but instead had exercised his God-given dominion in righteousness. This will be a time of a perfectly blessed life which was God's intention for us from the beginning. It forms a transition between present history, floundering in sin, and to the eternal state of perfection. Imagine a world ruled by a perfect, glorious Ruler, the LORD Jesus Christ. Our sovereign God knows the future and is in control of it. Whatever happens in that day and time will be in His plan and under His control. That should give us all peace when we seem to have so many questions about the future. So then we must be watchful and attuned to our LORD and Saviour the rest of our days. To Him Who alone will REIGN for all of ETERNITY.

Bible Reading
4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
