When David Livingstone began his trek across Africa in 1852, he carried 73 books which together weighed 180 pounds. After he had gone 300 miles he had to throw away some of the books because it was not feasible to carry so much through the jungle. He continued throwing books away as he went further into the jungle. Eventually his library had shrunk to one book—the Bible—this he did not throw away. The Bible is truly the most important book in the world, yet many read it as if it were the least important.
The Priority of Devotions George Müller read the Bible through over 100 times. He also wrote over 30,000 letters per year for 40 years. He had nine assistants working in a dozen languages. He pastored 1,200 believers, had the oversight of five large orphanages and a huge publishing house, printed and distributed millions of books, tracts, and Bibles. He said, “I never think of going to my work without first having a good season of time with God and my Bible.” "I MUST BUILD A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD WHO STRENGTHENS ME TO INVOLVE."
POWER FOR INVOLVEMENT
The Bible Is the Most Important Book
Sunday School Outline The Power of Personal Bible Reading Nehemiah 8:1,3,18; 9:3 I. The power of personal Bible reading invokes (nurtures, educates) the saints of God to expand. A. God’s perspective (knowledge) is stored in His magnificent word ready to be revealed to those who will read and keep it. B. God’s prudence (wisdom) is a strong defense and an offence to those who will read and keep it. II. The power of personal Bible reading ignites the Spirit of God to enlighten. A. God’s key for His power to involve in us through the scripture is by the illumination of His Spirit. B. God’s key for His power to instruct us through the scripture is by the influence of His Spirit. III. The power of personal Bible reading includes the Saviour’s great encouragement. A. The scripture contains all the promises of God intended for His children. B. The scripture commands the people of God to include God’s perfect will as paramount in their lives.
About the Bible An unknown writer said, “This Book is the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding; its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.”

WARNING Bible Usage Can Be Habit Forming
Regular reading can cause loss of ANXIETY and FEAR, decreased appetite for LYING, CHEATING, STEALING, HATING, ANGER and ENVY. Symptoms include: increased sensation of LOVE, JOY, PEACE, COMPASSION and CONTENTMENT. If symptoms persist, just PRAISE THE LORD.
All Sufficient When I am tired, the Bible is my bed; Or in the dark, the Bible is my light; When I am hungry, it is vital bread; Or fearful, it is armor for the fight. When I am sick, ’tis healing medicine; Or lonely, thronging friends I find therein. If I would work, the Bible is my tool; Or play, it is a harp of happy sound. If I am arrogant, it is my school. If I am sinking, it is solid ground. If I am cold, the Bible is my fire; And it is wings, if boldly I aspire. Should I be lost, the Bible is my guide; Or naked, it is raiment rich and warm. Am I imprisoned, it ranges wide; Or tempest-tossed, a shelter from the storm. Would I adventure, ‘tis a gallant sea; Or would I rest, it is a flowery lea. Does gloom oppress? The Bible is a sun, Or ugliness? It is a garden fair. Am I a thirst? How cool its currents run! Or stifled? What a vivifying air! Since thus thou givest of thyself to me, How should I give myself great Book to thee! -Copied

O
OUR GOD has been so good and gracious to start the year with a blast of revival from our Pastors and Workers’ Conference that was held on January 10 to 12 with the theme, “Back to Basic.” There were 45 pastors and 260 workers who had been refreshed and charged up again. Foreign speakers were
challenged as well even before they began to preach. Pastor Derrick Goette encouraged us to be like Paul who was a man of “no reserves, no retreat, and no regrets” in his determination to serve the Lord. In his last preaching, he presented the “Basic Work of God’s Church” based on Ephesians 4: 15-23. Meanwhile, Pastor George Pirt preached about “The Potential of a Prepared Heart” and “Faint, Yet Pursuing.” He testified that he was so much blessed with the spiritual atmosphere of the conference. On the other hand, Dr. Larry Clayton, who has been on fire for God for 60 years, told that prayer is vital for the revival of members through his topic, “Back to Basic in Prayer.” He further expressed his desire for his country’s restoration before Jesus Christ’s return. Likewise, the divided sessions have been faith-strengthening as the teachers excitedly expounded their prayerfully-prepared lessons. Many called-out ministers were once again summoned to rededicate themselves. The goal of our Pastor in holding this conference was to challenge every preacher, worker and member to stay on the old path, which the Lord has paved for us to walk through. It is an old-fashioned and very basic way where Christians must step on toward their spiritual journey. It has been successfully trodden upon by many faithful saints who have already gone with the Lord. Such path is what we need to follow, knowing that God has already proved His mighty hand in leading His own obedient children as we all can see in our beloved pastor’s life and in this blessed church’s progress. Thus, we no longer need to make a new one. Our God be praised for this past victory that He had wrought through us! We thank Him that through this church, we have been blessed to be a blessing to other pastors and workers. Thus, we should always ask Him to let us stay more fervently on the right basics of Christianity so that we can continue being an influence to others also.
LET’S INVOLVE IN BIBLE READING Beata Agustin
Let’s involve in Bible reading that enriches us with God’s eternal treasures Truly blessing us in our Christian journey midst earthly pressures We must accept His truth which to our spirits sovereignly assures For us to dwell confidently in His will of divine pleasures. Let’s involve in Bible reading that leads us to God’s best answers to our supplication Truly meeting us in our need for His prudence of timely discretion We must meditate His testimony on our salvation and sanctification For us to ascend victoriously toward His mount of faith-fortification. Let’s involve in Bible reading that grants us God’s forgiving peace in our sin-infirmity Truly healing us along our repentance with His pardon and earnest security We must claim His promises revealed by His compassionate authority For us to stand firmly upon His law in overcoming doubt and evil uncertainty. Let’s involve in Bible reading that brings us to God’s wondrous goodness Truly inviting us to His loving kindness, melting our bitterness We must feast on His statutes of nourishing bountifulness For us to pursue eagerly after His satisfaction-contentment’s blissfulness. Let’s involve in Bible reading that directs us to God’s exceeding reward Truly helping us to be a diligent and faithful steward We must study His precepts in advancing His kingdom forward For us to serve fruitfully in His vineyard while marching heavenly upward. Let’s involve in Bible reading that sets us to hear God’s powerful speech Truly instructing us so that our resolution-goals we’ll reach We must do His commandments which to our souls always preach For us to glorify Him sincerely while living according to what His oracles teach. Let’s involve in Bible reading that ushers us to God’s delightful presence Truly establishing us in His covenant of holiness and mercy’s license We must trust in His word with our obedience-sense For us to enjoy fully His guidance of wisdom’s iridiscence.

What They Said About the Bible Make it the first morning business of your life to understand some part of the Bible clearly, and make it your daily business to obey it in all that you do understand. John Ruskin English writer and artist
That book, sir, [the Bible] is the rock on which our republic rests. Andrew Jackson U.S. president
I cannot too greatly emphasize the importance and value of Bible study— more important than ever before in these days of uncertainties, when men and women are apt to decide questions from the standpoint of expediency rather than on the eternal principles laid down by God Himself. John Wanamaker American merchant
It is impossible to righteously govern the world without God and the Bible…. George Washington U.S. president
It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible reading people. The principles of the Bible are the groundwork of human freedom. Horace Greeley American journalist I ask every man and woman in this audience that from this day on we realize that part of the destiny of America lies in their daily perusal of this Book [the Bible]. Woodrow Wilson U.S. president
If I am asked what is the remedy for deeper sorrows of the human heart, I must point to something which in the well-known hymn is called “The old, old, story,” told of an old, old Book and taught with the old, old teaching which is the greatest and best guide ever given to mankind. William Ewart Gladstone United Kingdom prime minister The Bible is like a telescope. If a man looks through his telescope, then he sees worlds beyond; but if he looks at his telescope, then he does not see anything but that. The Bible is a thing to be looked through, to see that which is beyond. Phillips Brooks American clergyman
