Introduction Changing trends in the world economy have had a significant impact on the oil & gas industry throughout four corners of the globe. As a result of high level growth generated by emerging economies, demand for new sources of oil & gas is currently at its peak. Competition, however, is fiercer than ever before, giving those who have invested in cost effective measures and efficient technologies, a strong edge. Meanwhile, environmental sustainability and social responsibility are becoming key factors when it comes to venturing into new markets and achieving market growth.

Being one of the leading oil & gas events in the region, SYROIL 2012 will focus on peculiarities of the Middle East Petroleum Industry by addressing changes and opportunities. The biennial event, which takes place in Damascus-the oldest continuously inhabited capital in the world-will bring key international decision makers and experts to meet and benefit from exchanging ideas, debating visions, and discussing strategies that can lead to successful collaboration.

As far as Syria is concerned, 8 new blocks have been announced for exploration in an attempt to enhance the country’s oil production. This is in addition to an essential need to increase efficiency of existing operations by implementing the most updated technologies that can provide optimal productions. The gas potential is also yet to be explored due to estimations of high gas reserves that still need to be explored and commercialized.

At the same time, the new government policy to partner with the private sector in several economic areas, including oil and gas, will open the door to new business potentials that can cover different downstream activities.

SYROIL 2012 will build on past successes, particularly 2010 when 8,243 specialized visits were recorded, featuring 267 international companies, representing 41 countries. Extensive technical seminars will be held parallel to the exhibition itself, giving industry professionals the chance to learn of the challenges ahead, debating them with colleagues in order to map and locate future opportunities.

Technical Seminars will be held in the Conference Hall during the opening hours of the exhibition

by International Organizations and exhibitors to present their latest technologies.
