SWEETHEART NECKLINE Sweetheart necklines were given their name from their heart-like shape. These gowns are usually strapless and are also a timeless and popular choice.
IDEAL HAIRSTYLE: Show off your shoulders with a chic, knotted up-style or bring out your inner bohemian with a side swept braid, the choice is yours.
QUEEN ANNE NECKLINE The dramatic neckline of the Queen Anne gown has a high collar that goes around the neck, with a detached scoop, V-neck or sweetheart shape below.

SCOOP, SQUARE AND V-NECK Scoop, Square and V-Neck were originally named after their simple and classic shapes. The scoop neckline drops to a soft “U” shape, the square neckline resembles the shape of a square and the V-neck dips to a shallow “V” shape.
IDEAL HAIRSTYLE: A gently textured up-do, set low or high, will most likely be the best look for these necklines. If you would like to wear your hair down, be sure it doesn’t hide too much of the décolletage. Think about a style that rests on the back versus a hairstyle that might fall to the front.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST WEDDING TREND WHEN YOU GOT MARRIED? If I can remember, I think cupcakes instead of the traditional cake was a newer trend. We sat down with our caterer and told her what we were thinking instead of a cake and she went above and beyond. To this day we still have guests from our wedding comment on how amazing they were. BEST MEMORY OF THE DAY? We got married in Lake Country in my mom and dad’s beautifully landscaped backyard overlooking Okanagan Lake. It was a gorgeous August evening with our friends and family. At the end of the evening our good friend arranged to have his boat at the dock below to take us from our wedding reception to our hotel. The lake was perfectly still and the moon was bright. That was a great moment we’ll never forget.

ONE THING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY? There’s not much we would change about our wedding day, except to take more time to visit with our friends and family. WHAT ARE SOME TIPS TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE? Know when to give each other space. Serve one another without expecting something in return. And being able to laugh together. BIGGEST LESSON YOUR PARTNER HAS TAUGHT YOU? Nikki: To be true to myself always. James: To not limit myself. TRAVEL BACK IN TIME – WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUR SELF ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? Even though marriage can bring out your worst side, and at times make you feel vulnerable and alone, given the chance it also has the potential to be the most profoundly beautiful experience life has to offer... And eat more cupcakes.

he world of cosmetics called to Jenny McKinney at a young age. “It’s always been a part of who
I am,” says the Kelowna-based makeup artist. “In my studio I have a picture of my fifth birthday party. All the kids are around the table—their goofy grins, their pointy birthday hats on—except me. I’m looking in a mirror, putting on some kind of lip product.” As she grew up, makeup became less of a toy and more of a passion. She became interested in the artistry of makeup—the way products could change a person’s look—but she also loved the way makeup could change the way women felt about themselves. Many women use makeup to help put their best face forward; to help them present themselves the way they want the world to see them. Jenny provides this service, but also adds more to each client’s experience with her unique gifts of communication and encouragement. “It’s a pretty intimate thing that happens when you have makeup done. You’re up in someone’s business. It’s very close,” she explains. “You share each other’s energy, so that’s something I’ve always been very cognizant of – just bringing the right energy.” That energy can manifest in many different ways: offering a receptive ear if a client needs to talk, or just making time to brighten a client’s day. Recently, Jenny made time in her schedule to squeeze in a last-minute client, a woman who was going through a rough time and wanted to have her makeup done as a small pick-me-up.

“When she was putting on her jacket to leave, she said, ‘You know what Jenny? You make me feel beautiful even before you put my makeup on,’” Jenny recalls. It’s part of Jenny’s practice to use the beauty that shines from the inside out, rather than masking a woman’s features under layers of colour—an approach that perfectly suits wedding makeup. Whether a bride is adventurous and daring with her look, or whether she wants a more natural glow,
Jenny can make sure she walks down the aisle looking beautiful, radiant— and most importantly, like herself. “The last thing I would ever want is for a bride to not feel like herself,” she says. “An au naturale bride is a pretty common request. I give her some luminosity and definition… I just enhance what’s already there. My clients are often surprised at the detail that goes into ‘no-makeup makeup.’” To ensure the bride gets the look she’s after, a lot of communication takes place before the wedding day. A bridal package includes an optional trial, and Jenny likes to see photos of the dress, and a headshot of the bride. She also likes to see any pictures of makeup styles that that the bride finds appealing. All these images work together to help Jenny develop a look that perfectly suits the bride and her wedding. Jenny feels the role of makeup in a wedding day is actually bigger than most brides realize, even if the makeup takes a back seat to the dress, the venue, and other elements that make up the wedding day. Most brides spend a lot of time selecting the dress and hairstyle and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on photography to capture the day. With that kind of investment at stake, why take a risk with your makeup? “When you have professional makeup done, it’s like your insurance. You just feel so prepared,” Jenny says. “Your shoulders are taller, your heart’s fuller – you just feel so happy when you feel beautiful.” It’s Jenny’s business to make you look beautiful. But when you are still smiling and confident even after the product is washed off—that’s her true mark of success.

FIR ST MEET ING
We met at the movie theatre in chinook centre. My good friend’s girlfriend went to high school with keeley and invited her to come see “i am legend”, at the same time my friend invited me to come see the movie also. He told me about this cute girl who was coming to the movie, so i took dibs on sitting beside her (a few of my other friends came along). Throughout the movie i was very suave and made some very intentional elbow touches…next thing you know she was totally smitten and showed up at my church two days later to say hi. The rest is history.
Jordan and I met at a movie – I am Legend (not a very romantic movie)… I had recently broken up with my boyfriend and one of my good friends from high school invited me out to see a movie. Jordan heard a single short cute blonde was coming to the movie and he called dibs on sitting next to me! During the movie I was on my phone the whole time - yes, I was that person… and after the movie he asked about me to our mutual friend who gave him more details! Later that week I ended up going to a church where he played guitar – he saw me at the service and asked for my number!

The proposal was pretty exciting. I created this elaborate plan where Keeley thought we were going to our favourite restaurant to celebrate the recent engagement of her sister, it was all planned to the last detail, we even had menus on the tables that said “Congratulations Brittany and Ted”. whole restaurant was on their feet watching, I sang the last line of the chorus
Jordan went to the bathroom and was
replacing “Hey Baby” with “Hey Keeley, I think i wanna marry you”…took off my

guitar, got down on one knee, told her “I love you more than anything in this
starting to think he was sick when all of
world”, then asked her “will you marry me?” Luckily she said yes, the restaurant broke into applause and we all celebrated for the rest of the night with all of our families and closest friends around us. The whole event was recorded on video and uploaded to YouTube, which now has over 600,000 views!
a sudden two violin players came out and started playing Bruno Mars “ Marry You.” Next thing I knew Jordan, his brother and another guitar player came out as well as did all of my friends and family - some even flew in from out of town. Jordan sang the song then got down on one knee in front of everyone in the restaurant and asked me to marry him. Meanwhile our whole engagement was filmed and can be viewed on YouTube where it has 600,000 views!

Jazz up the mini paper bags! Using your scissors cut the gold cardstock 1cm wide and 2.5 inches long, or if you’re using a different size bag just cut according to the bottom length of the bag, trace and cut to multiply and apply with glue to bottom of the bag. *TIP- you can also use gold glitter washi tape or double sided tape and apply loose glitter!
Using your scissors now cut the black cardstock into flag pieces with the following dimensions, 4m height x 6cm width x 2.5cm flag and repeat by tracing the first one to make multiples as needed and set aside.
Take your glue stick and apply a thin layer to the rubber portion of the stamp and press in place on a black flag cut-out, dust with glitter and shake off excess glitter by tapping over a bowl.
4. Let the black flag pieces dry before applying with glue to the front of the mini paper bags.
5. Now fill your bag with confetti and seal the back by tucking it the flap or securing with a sticker or piece of decorative tape!
