by First Lt. Shelby Chapman 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Last month, the 86th Airlift Wing initiated a parking plan in response
to $1.3 million in funding cuts to the wing’s vehicle sustainment operations for the remainder of the fiscal year. Vehicle sustainment funds are used to support vehicle maintenance
and repairs for the 86th Vehicle Readiness Squadron’s fleet of 1,600 vehicles that support all aspects of the base’s mission. This initiative is necessary for the wing to ensure
future mission readiness and will unfortunately result in many impacts to daily operations across the installation. Stay tuned for an article next week to find out
more about why these funding cuts occurred, how the wing is navigating the issue, and what impacts you can expect to see around your workplace and across the installation.
