LOS NUEVOS AIRES DE 2015 2015: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
E
l 2015 sopla con su fuerza renovada. Nuestra Primera División comenzó su torneo de 30 equipos, el certamen que soñaba Julio Humberto Grondona, por eso lleva el sello de su nombre. Y la competencia carga con el empuje de los debutantes o de los que anhelaban el regreso a la elite después de mucho tiempo. Y con la historia de los habitués, que persiguen un nuevo deseo. Todo, con el condimento federal, la pelota corriendo de una punta a la otra del país. El 2015 ya aportó su primera sonrisa, que abraza a nuestra nutritiva cantera. El título en el Sudamericano Sub 20 nos permitirá competir en el próximo Mundial en Nueva Zelanda y participar en los Juegos Olímpicos de Brasil 2016. Y el año ofrece más ilusiones con el Sub 17. Y con la Selección en la Copa América. ¿Cómo no enorgullecerse al leer en estas páginas el compromiso de Lionel Messi con la camiseta? ¿Cómo no volver al camino recorrido durante el Mundial 2014, a ese subcampeonato que valió un título por la comunión que se generó con todo el pueblo futbolero? Si hasta estas páginas se han renovado. Todo lo aquí descripto se puede recorrer en esta rejuvenecida AFA Revista. Y también el sitio web de la Asociación del Fútbol Argentino se encuentra en proceso de un cambio de imagen y contenidos. Con la fuerza de 2015.

T
he year 2015 has arrived with a renewed strength. Our First Division started the 30 teams tournament, which was Julio Humberto Grondona´s dream: this is why the tournament is named after him. The competition carries the energy of the new teams or the ones who wished to make a come back into the elite after so long, with the history of the well-known teams in search of a new dream, and the spice of the ball running from the north to the south of the country. The year 2015 has already contributed to the first smile which embraces our breeding ground: to achieve the title in the U-20 South American tournament, which will let us compete in the next World Cup in New Zealand and participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. Hope increases with the U-17 and with the National Team in the Copa America. When one reads these pages it is impossible not to be proud of Lionel Messi´s commitment with our t-shirt. It is impossible not to reminisce the 2014 World Cup, that second place that united all football fans. Even these pages have had a renewal. Everything mentioned before can be read in this rejuvenated AFA Magazine, as well as the Argentine Football Association web page which is in the process of a new image and content makeover, including the strength of the year 2015.

l Sudamericano de Uruguay dejó esa cadena de abrazos, todos con todos aleatoriamente, apenas consumada la histórica victoria en el Centenario. Dejó los baches tapados con rondas de mate y truco en el lobby del hotel de Montevideo y Play Station en la utilería; algún que otro chapuzón en la pileta de Colonia. Dejó la gloriosa inspiración de Angelito de qué planeta viniste Correa, el profesionalismo dentro y fuera de la cancha y el consecuente récord de Simeone como goleador. Dejó esas montañas de unión para festejar el agónico empate ante Colombia y el híper entonado “Brasil, decime qué se siente” en el túnel del Parque Central y en el micro de vuelta y en todo el país, una vez más. Dejó la experiencia y el olfato de Humberto Grondona para moldear y reencauzar al equipo cuando hizo falta un paso por boxes aun luego de una victoria, dejó las arengas y reflejos de Batalla, la clase del tiempista Mammana, la solidez de toda la defensa. Dejó las bromas de Driussi y Compagnucci, al polifuncional Tripichio y sus imitaciones del Maestruli de Tinelli para cantarle, sin piano pero con el mismo ingenio, “grrrrracias, gracias Correa”, y los improvisados remates. Dejó los desbordes de Espinoza, un puñado de golazos (como el de Leo Rolón a Paraguay), la colaboración y contención fundamental de todo un cuerpo técnico, dirigentes y empleados de la AFA, casi un mes dedicados full time a aportar a la causa. Dejó, también, los cortes de pelo del coiffeur Leo Suárez a sus compañeros, el dolor de la lesión de Bareiro, una efectividad implacable: goles en todos los partidos. El Sudamericano dejó todo eso y lágrimas de emoción y raid de fotos con la Copa y una noche larga y en familia en el hotel tras la consagración. Dejó decenas de tapas de diarios y minutos de aire en radios y programas de TV. Dejó la inolvidable vuelta olímpica en un estadio tan histórico como invulnerable, dejó una tremenda muestra de coraje y personalidad en continuado, cuya máxima expresión se vio en la “final”, no dejándose intimidar por el rugido de 60.000 charrúas. Dejó un ticket a los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro y otro al Mundial de Nueva Zelanda, y un nuevo título para las nutridas vitrinas Juveniles de la AFA. Mucho, chicos...

he South American Tournament in Uruguay left that chain of hugs, everybody to everybody in a fortuitous way, as soon as the historical victory was won in the Centenario Stadium. It also left the free time covered with round of mate and truco in the hotel lobby in Montevideo, Play Station in the equipment kit room, and some others dives into the swimming pool in Colonia. It left the Angelito’s glorious inspiration, from what planet have you come Correa? , the professionalism inside and outside the playing field and the consequent Simeone’s record as goal scorer. It left those union mountains to celebrate the dying draw against Colombia and the hyper-tuned ‘Brazil, tell me what you feel’ in the tunnel of Parque Central Stadium on the returning bus and all over the country, once more. It left Humberto Grondona’s experience and flair to mold and guide the team when it was necessary a pit stop, even after a victory, it left the pep talks and battle reflexes, the timing and Mammana’s class, the strengh of the whole defence. It left Driussi and Compagnucci jokes, the imitations performed by the polyfunctional Tripichio to the Tinelli’s Maestruli when singing him without a piano but with the same creativity:’grrrracias, gracias, Correa’ and the improvised joke endings. It left Espinosa’s outburts, a handful o great goals (like the one scored by Rolon) against Paraguay), the collaboration and fundamental support from all the coaching staff, executives and AFA employees, nearly a month devoted full time in contributing to the purpose. It also left the playmates’ haircuts by Barber Leo Suarez, the Bareiro’s injury pain, a implacable effectiveness: goals in every match. South American Tournament left all that and also moving tears and a raid of photos with the Cup and a long night with the family in the hotel after the victory. It left loads of newspaper front pages and on air minutes on radio and tv programmes. It left the unforgettable Olympic lap in a Stadium so historic as invulnerable, it left a huge courage sample and an ongoing personality, whose maximum expression was seen in the ‘final’ as not allowing themselves to be intimidated by the roar of 60,000 charruas. It left a ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and another one to New Zealand World Cup, and a new title to be displayed in the AFA Youth Team’s full glass case. A lot, guys...

nvueltos en la bandera argentina, envueltos en gloria, en talento y goles.
Ángel Correa y Giovanni Simeone son las caras más visibles de este equipo campeón, las figuritas más requeridas por la prensa y los hinchas durante el Sudamericano, acaso los jugadores más decisivos de un plantel que cumplió y vaya si cumplió enterito en la hierba. Porque jugaron todos, pero el delantero del Atlético de Madrid y el 9 de River fueron los que se llevaron más flashes. El primero, aparición rimbombante de las Inferiores de San Lorenzo, se ganó la capitanía por su liderazgo futbolístico: tanto Humberto Grondona como el resto de los jugadores lo reconocieron de entrada, ya en el predio de Ezeiza, durante la preparación; un jugador diferente, con trucos propios e inimitables, de autor, y el olfato no falló, así quedó demostrado durante todo el certamen, en el que el portador del dorsal 11 descolló desde el primero al último encuentro. Correa fue decisivo por sus regates, por sus habilitaciones (a Maxi Rolón ante Brasil, la top) y sus goles (chapeau sobre todo por

Ángel Correa and Giovanni Simeone are the most visible faces of this crowned team, the most demanded album stickers by the press and the supporters during the South American Tournament, perhaps the most decisive players on a squad that met all the expectations on the pitch. They all played above the standards, but the Atletico de Madrid attacking midfielder and the River Plate striker gathered all the attention. The first one played outstandingly for San Lorenzo and served as captain thanks to his football leadership: Both Humberto Grondona and the rest of the players recognized him from the beginning as a different player with unequal tips and tricks during the trainings in Ezeiza´s grounds, and that feeling wouldn´t let them down as he performed wonderfully throughout the whole competition. Correa was decisive thanks to

el convertido ante Uruguay para ser campeón), por el descanso de la bocha bajo su virtuosa suela cuando el juego se ponía espeso. El segundo, Gio, por sus goles, por ese histórico número de conquistas. Antes del inicio del campeonato, el Cholo padre, siempre exigente, le pidió siete, y el Cholo hijo, más exigente, respondió con nueve. Y alcanzó la marca de Luciano Galletti en el Sudamericano de 1999 como top scorer histórico albiceleste en este torneo. No fue casual: Gio trabajó duro para conseguirlo. Desde el riguroso (aunque para él ya algo natural, por costumbre familiar) cuidado en la alimentación y dedicación al entrenamiento, hasta el respeto por el descanso y la preparación mental. Híper responsable, a Simeone se le cruza un sueño y se encarga de ayudar a la suerte. Así pues llegaron sus gritos, algunos de ellos en HD, como las definiciones ante Bolivia en Colonia y Paraguay en Montevideo. “Jugar con Ángel es algo increíble. Hace todo más fácil. Nunca sabés con qué te puede salir, es un fenómeno, un distinto. Y lo demostró durante el torneo. Por suerte jugó para nosotros…”, piropeó el 9 a Correa, quien también fue generoso con el hijo de su DT en España. “Gio es un gran goleador, si le queda una pelota, seguro va adentro. Es impresionante lo que nos ayudó a ganar el campeonato”, devolvió la pared Angelito. Ahora posan para la foto y coinciden en que si bien ellos ocupan un lugar central en la marquesina, “todos aportaron para ganar el Sudamericano, hubo un rendimiento general muy alto. Y mucha unión en el grupo, algo que se reflejó dentro de la cancha”. Correa y Simeone, emblemas de un Selectivo que volvió a poner al fútbol juvenil argentino en lo más alto, y que sueñan con repetir proezas en el Mundial de Nueva Zelanda y, por qué no, algún día en la Selección Mayor…

The second one, Gio, equalled the historical top scorer mark. Before the competition, his demanding dad Cholo asked Gio to score at least 7 times, and Cholo´s son fulfilled his expectations by scoring 9 goals and reaching the record that was owned by Luciano Galletti on the 1999 South American Tournament for the Argentine team. It was not a coincidence, as Gio worked hard to achieve this. He is very strict regarding his nutrition (seems natural for him coming from a footballers family), his dedication to training and respect for the much needed rests and mental preparation. Over responsible, he will fight tooth and nail to make his dreams come true. That is why he achieved so many goals, some of them being high quality ones such as his superb finishings against Bolivia in Colonia, and Paraguay in Montevideo. ‘Playing with Angelito is something amazing as he makes everything seem so easy. You never know what he will come out with, he is a star, a different player,’ the striker flattered Correa, who in return was generous with his coach´s son in Spain: ‘Gio is a great striker, whenever he has a chance, he scores. Its amazing how he contributed to the team in its way to obtain the title.’ Now they pose for a picture and even though they agree they deserve a place in the marquee, they also coincide that ‘everybody did their bit to obtain the South American Tournament, there was high overall performance, and a strong bond along the squad which was reflected on the pitch.’ Correa and Simeone are the symbols of a team that raised the Argentine Youth Team to the top once again, and they dream to repeat the history on the New Zealand World Cup and why not, sooner or later on the National Majors Team...

Por entonces todavía se vivía de un hermoso pero lejano recuerdo, de aquel Maradona sublime, de un Ramón Díaz intratable, de los madrugones de un país entero que se identificó con el fútbol de esos pibes que, también con Menotti en el banco, repitieron en Japón lo conseguido un año antes por los mayores en el Mundial de Argentina 78. Por entonces todavía era poco más que un desconocido José Pekerman, el elegido por la AFA para asumir la transformación juvenil y, entre otras cosas, encarrilar a una Selección Sub 20 que venía de protagonizar un escándalo con suspensión mundialista incluida. Y desde entonces cambió la historia: Qatar 95 fue el origen de una era tan rica como el petróleo.

Con apenas 22 años, Nicolás Sarmiento ya se pone el buzo argentino como un referente del plantel nacional que dirige Diego Giustozzi. Nacido y criado en Udaondo y Alcorta, el arquero se mudó por una temporada para atajar en el Intelli de Brasil, volvió a River y, entre ir y venir, se afianzó bajo los tres palos de una Selección que en 2014 lo vio quedarse con la medalla de plata en los Juegos Odesur, ganar la Copa de las Naciones, en Uberlandia, y la Continental Cup, en Kuwait. “Mi vínculo con la Celeste y Blanca empezó cuando tenía 17 años, en un Selectivo que después se transformó en Sub 20: jugué el Sudamericano Sub 21 dirigido por Luis Sassón -medalla de bronce- y luego volví a ser convocado por Fernando Larrañaga para la Mayor”, recuerda Nico, mientras se lookea para la producción de AFA Revista, con la ropa de la Selección por un lado y la banda roja por el otro: “A los ocho años empecé a jugar Futsal en River, soy hincha club, y no me imagino jugando en otra institución de la Argentina”. Y claro, es que Sarmiento es sinónimo de escuela nacional, por caso el único exponente de nuestra liga que en febrero estuvo en la gira por Madrid y Barcelona. “Fue una experiencia increíble haber enfrentado a una potencia como España. Como también lo es entrenar con la Selección. Tenemos la suerte de contar con todo lo necesario, infraestructura, cuerpo técnico, los mejores jugadores… Por eso me exijo al máximo y sé que debo progresar constantemente para seguir siendo parte de este grupo”, cuenta Nico Sarmiento, el joven arquero del Futsal argentino, un arquero con proyección mundial.
With only 22 years old, Nicolas Sarmiento is already a mentor in the National Team coached by Diego Giustozzi. The born and raised in Udaondo and Alcorta moved to play for one season in Intelli of Brasil and then came back to River. In between, he consolidated as a goalkeeper in the National Team as well as he conquered several titles: Silver Medal in Odesur Games, the winning of the Copa de las Naciones in Uberlandia and the Continental Cup in Kuwait. ‘I firstly got into the Selectivo, which then was the U-20, when I was 17 years old. Later, I played the U-21 South American Tournament coached by Luis Sasson (Bronze Medal) and afterwards I was called again by Fernando Larrañaga for the Major National Team’, remembers Nico, while preparing for this shooting with the National Team clothes on one side and the River clothes on the other side: ‘I started playing Futsal when I was 8 years old in River, I am a fan of the club and I cannot imagine myself playing somewhere else in Argentina’. And that is so because Sarmiento is synonym of national school, by the way, the only exponent of our league who was in the Madrid and Barcelona tour. ‘Facing such a powerful team like Spain was an amazing experience, as well as training for the National Team. We are lucky to have everything we need, infrastructure, coaching staff, the best players...That’s why I demand myself so hard and I know that I must improve constantly to continue in this team’, tells us Nico Sarmiento, the young goalkeeper of Futsal Argentine National Team, a goalkeeper with worldwide projection.

Apenas unas semanas quedan por delante para que la Selección de Fútbol Playa afronte uno de los objetivos más importantes del año, las Eliminatorias que se jugarán del 19 al 26 de abril en Manta, Ecuador, y que clasificarán a tres selecciones para el Mundial de Portugal. De cara a este compromiso hubo cambios en el cuerpo técnico, moviendo fichas para designar a Damián Casado (antes a cargo del Selectivo) como DT y dejando a cargo de Francisco Petrasso la tarea de coordinador general de la actividad. Importante desafío para el Chino Casado, un histórico de este deporte como jugador. “Estoy muy contento y ansioso por afrontar este nuevo desafío”, se entusiasma quien empezó a jugar fútbol playa en 2001, curiosamente con Francisco Petrasso como técnico. Un año después de su retiro tras el Mundial de Dubai 2009, el Chino empezó a colaborar con el cuerpo técnico albiceleste, en la convocatoria y entrenamiento de nuevos valores. “Conozco a la mayoría de los jugadores que hoy está en la Selección: si no fuimos compañeros, integraron en algún momento el Selectivo”. Antes de las Eliminatorias, Casado debutará en un torneo en Paraguay (además del local, participarán EE.UU. y España) y luego recibirá a México en Buenos Aires. Para Petrasso, la nueva función también se presenta ardua: “A partir del contacto que tengo con los técnicos de otros países, intentaré ofrecer partidos a la Selección porque es importante jugar”. Así como también lo es el desarrollo de este deporte en el país; en tal sentido, Damián Dupiellet, presidente de la Comisión de Futsal y Fútbol Playa, espera un importante aporte de Petrasso y el ex PF Charly Juárez “para lograr el objetivo de tener pronto una liga nacional de Fútbol Playa en la Argentina”.

Después, lo ideal es que vengan a jugar a Buenos Aires, donde la competencia es más fuerte”, resume el Vasco. Los Juegos Panamericanos se acercan y, con el sueño de repetir el oro cosechado en los Odesur, la Selección abre sus puertas para todas las chicas que quieran escribir una nueva página en la historia del deporte argentino.

Salvo en River, atajó en los otros cuatro grandes de nuestro fútbol. Estuvo 23 años volando de palo a palo, fue ayudante del Bambino Veira en Boca, Lanús, Newell’s y San Lorenzo, e hizo su propia experiencia como técnico principal en Quilmes. Sin embargo, su lugar en el mundo lo encontró en Ezeiza: hace un lustro que el Gringo es entrenador de arqueros en las selecciones juveniles y recientemente fue nombrado Instructor FIFA. Pogany was the goalkeeper in four of the five biggest teams of our football, except River. His 23 year-career let him work as Bambino Veira’s assistant in Boca, Lanus, Newell´s and San Lorenzo, and he also coached Quilmes. Nevertheless, Ezeiza is his place in the world. The Gringo has been coaching the young goalkeepers for five years, and recently he was designated as a FIFA Instructor.

Un torneo de 30 equipos que arrancó en febrero e irá hasta diciembre. Ilusiones a montones. Viejos conocidos y algún que otro nuevo por conocer... Al que quiere Celeste, que le cueste, eso dicen. Y si no habría que preguntárselo a Temperley, que supo ser parte de la elite de 1975 a 1977 y de
1983 a 1987, y demoró 28 años para concretar su tan ansiado regreso. Eso sí, después de semejante espera, ya se dio ciertos gustos como ganar agónicamente en el debut (1-0 a Banfield), recibir en Turdera a un tal Boca y visitar al último campeón. Sarmiento de Junín tardó incluso un poco más en retornar a las ligas mayores: se trata de un club que recién en 1952 pudo participar de los torneos de la AFA y que en 1981 alcanzó la máxima categoría. Y aunque la alegría no fue duradera, el fútbol vuelve a sonreírle 33 años después. Otro de los ascendidos es Aldosivi, un club fundado el 29 de marzo de 1913, marplatense y con efímera
historia en la Primera División. Jugó apenas los campeonatos Nacionales del 74, 75 y 76, pero luego ya no pudo inmiscuirse en la crème de la crème… Hasta ahora, claro. Y por último, además de estas tres instituciones, hay una que tuvo un ascenso meteórico. Hace tan sólo 11 años emergía Crucero del Norte desde Garupá, Misiones. Bien de abajo, empezando en la Liga Posadeña, fue escalando categorías hasta terminar en el lugar más ansiado. Pasó por el Torneo del Interior, en 2005. Ascendió ese mismo año al Argentino B y en 2009 al Argentino A. El año 2012 lo vio en la Primera B Nacional, y este 2015… La Primera División recibe a un joven miembro debutante.

It was at top level before among theses periods: 75-77 and 83-87 from 1983 to 1987, and it took the team 28 years to make its longawaited comeback. But as far as it takes, it already enjoyed winning in its debut (1-0 to Banfield), or receiving Boca in Turdera and also visiting the last champion. Sarmiento de Junin lasted even more to return to the main leagues: it’s about a club that participated in AFA tournaments in 1952 and in 1981 achieved the most important category. 1) Llego a City Bell dos horas antes del inicio de la práctica, acomodo lo que ya había dejado casi listo el día anterior y preparo mate para recibir a los jugadores. En la utilería tengo el diario, la tele, alguna revista, quiero que ellos se sientan como en sus casas. Ahora trabajamos con Roly Bareiro, pero en un momento llegamos a ser tres utileros. 2) En general nos manejamos con dos juegos de ropa para entrenar, pero tenemos cuatro para los viajes. En el Country hay de todo: lavandería, gimnasio, un espacio cubierto para practicar por si llueve, pileta, hotelería... Es un predio de selección. Y cuando entrenamos en el Estadio, cargamos todo en un flete. 3) Usamos 30 pelotas. 4) Abu Dhabi, al Mundial de Clubes de 2010. Y ahora jugando la Copa Libertadores seguimos sumando millas, je. 5) Quedarme toda la vida en Estudiantes.

Si es cerca, voy con todo en mi camioneta. 5) Como ocurre con los jugadores, me gustaría pasar a un club más importante.

The 2015 National Second Division season consists of 17 out of 22 teams which come from different provinces of the comprehensive Argentinian territory. With the promotion of seven teams of the Federal A (Juventud Unida de Gualeguaychu, Atletico Parana, Union de Mar del Plata, Gimnasia de Mendoza, Brown de Madryn, Central Cordoba de Santiago del Estero and Estudiantes de San Luis), all the attention will travel along the national routes to find out who will be the future candidates of the First Division. In that way, Ferro, Villa Dalmine, Chacarita, Los Andes and All Boys are the ones who defend the metropolitan pride. This mixture provides an extra attraction to the Second Division in comparison to the 30 teams in the First Division. There is football in every corner of Argentina. Today there are 134 professional teams in our country located all around the territory. Cuando hablamos del Club Social y Deportivo La Emilia, hacemos referencia a la institución que más
veces ganó el título de la Liga Nicoleña, que ya tiene 85 años, ostentando 20 campeonatos. Y esta oportunidad, la de enfrentar a un equipo de Primera División con la tradición que tiene Vélez, es soñada.
