The Problem with
Positivity If you have read any of my articles before you will know that I try to be a positive and optimistic person. I genuinely believe that choosing to focus on the positive can have enormous benefits for our emotional and mental, and therefore our physical, wellbeing.
However, I also believe we need to keep things ‘real’. Positivity is important, but it needs to come from a place of sincerity and authenticity. Clearly, we won’t ‘feel’ positive everyday and life will throw us numerous very difficult challenges which will cause us to feel frustrated, angry, let down, disappointed, hurt, betrayed, sad or even heartbroken. At those times putting on a false smile may not help at all. In fact, people who counter the grief or despair of others with exhortations to look on the bright side may not only not help but may do harm through showing a complete lack of empathy. We are humans we ‘feel’ and those feeling have a purpose if we ignore them then usually that will be to our detriment.
Over recent years the term ‘toxic positivity’ has been used to describe the view that whatever awful stuff might be happening – we must stay positive. The danger of this is that it can minimise human emotions and can even induce guilt. As humans we need to know that our emotions and feelings are valid – because they are, and we don’t really choose our emotions. Telling someone they can choose happiness when they are faced with a bereavement, health issue, loss or difficulty of sometime can induce shame making them feel that it’s their fault. It can also rob people of a chance for growth – which we can probably all acknowledge is often part and parcel of the tough times. It’s like pretending the sun is shining even when it’s raining – we know plants need both sun and rain to grow – and we aren’t so very different. When situations are tough it’s understandable that many feelings and emotions may arise that are hard to handle, until we come to a place of acceptance. The quote below is from Michael J Fox who has Parkinson’s disease; “Acceptance doesn’t mean resignation. It means understanding that something is what it is and there has got to be a way through it”
Frankly some situations are dire, a false positivity won’t help in fact it can do harm but that doesn’t mean there is no room for positivity. Allow yourself to feel emotions, sit with them, acknowledge them, cry or rant if you need to but then make choices about how you will move forward.
When we acknowledge an emotion or feeling or the magnitude of a situation and allow ourselves to express how we feel that sort of paves the way for being able to choose to be positive not by denying what is happening and how awful it might be but choosing instead to concentrate on some of the things that might still be positive. The situation may not change but how we frame it and how we choose to respond can make at huge difference.
Many situations are pretty awful but almost always there are some small things to be grateful for, which don’t take away all the negative, difficult things but we can for a moment choose to concentrate on moments which are enjoyable or practical things like a comfy bed or enough food if indeed we have those. Being positive isn’t so much about ignoring the negative it’s making a conscious choice about what you will concentrate on.
There are times when it is absolutely right to sit with our feelings but there are also times when we can make a determined choice – although this might be hard - to focus on something else. Perhaps the kindness of others that may be helping us through our grief or choosing to concentrate on the things we are still able to do rather those what we can’t. Which is why acceptance of a situation and acknowledgement and expression of feelings are important – then we can choose to be positive in an authentic rather than false or toxic way.
I listened to a Ted talk the other day which really made me think. It was by a guy who was Vietnamese but had grown up in USA and spoke Vietnamese, English and studied Latin and Greek. What he was explaining was that in Vietnamese there isn’t a subjunctive – which is the way we express might have been, what we would have done given certain usually different circumstances. It’s the ‘should have’ ‘could have’ ‘would have’ way of speaking – which in many ways prevents acceptance. How many times have we revisited situations or even conversations, wishing we’d done or said things differently? Let’s be honest it’s not usually helpful. In case you want to listen, the link is below. So, I will continue to urge people to be positive but from a place of honest acceptance of the situation and the emotions this may cause. Why Cleaning is Good for Your Mental Health
A
sma Ahmed, therapist advisor at www.supportroom.com has explained the importance of cleaning for your mental health, as well as its benefits. “Clean room, clear mind” as the saying goes.
‘Cleaning can be incredible for boosting your mental health. Some people spend a few hours out of the week or even a full day dedicated to cleaning. When we say cleaning, this can involve anything from decluttering the bedroom to sanitising the kitchen. Tidying can also involve redecorating your living space!’ Cleaning for mental health can be beneficial for several reasons:
1- Makes you feel productive: Accomplishing a goal, even as simple as making your bed, can make you feel like you have a purpose and more puttogether. You can sort through your belongings and get rid of things that you no longer need. A great place to start is your wardrobe, make time to sort through your clothes and donate unwanted garments to charity. 2 - Provides a form of therapy: Some people find cleaning meditative, and a chance to think. Washing the dishes,
for example, can also make you feel as if you’re tidying up your mind.
3 - Provides a distraction: You might find that tidying can be a good distraction from your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes we need a break, and cleaning can feel like accomplishing two jobs in one. You can also deep clean your home; this usually takes a bit longer than a brief hoover. You might find that the time spent and full concentration on spring cleaning can better your mood.
4 - Leaves you with a clear mind: A few minutes spent tidying is always beneficial. But you might find spring cleaning a worthwhile activity. If you suffer from certain mental health problems, such as seasonal depression, you might find it rewarding to do a deep clean. 5 - Improves mental health: People say “clean room, clear mind” for a reason! Cleaning can make you think clearer and be more mindful. Cleaning is a physical experience that releases endorphins — natural chemical messengers that are released during exercise that elevate your mood. When you solve a problem or complete an activity, you experience a release of positive emotions.

Midlife Madness For the many TV watchers among us, when we think of entanglements we probably think of romantic entanglements. Which can make for hilarious viewing though in real life can cause major heartaches.
But I’m not talking about that kind of entanglement or even about economic entanglements you know where people get embroiled in ‘stuff’ that ultimately leads to major complications in life.
No, my entanglements are not emotional or economic they are very physical. My most recent painful experiences of entanglements involve just 3 elements hair, mask and glasses. Now I go through life managing my glasses. I wear them all day every day and clearly that’s the same for my hair. Yet adding this one additional element of a mask has caused me untold issues.
I simply put on a mask, go into a shop then attempt to take the mask off when I come out of the shop, sounds simple doesn’t it? But, I find that I can’t. In a matter of minutes somehow it has wrapped itself around the arm of my glasses and my hair. How on earth can this happen in such a short time. Disentangling usually involves me, swearing a bit, losing some hair and on more than one occasion dropping my glasses. Add earrings into the mix and I’m talking grievous bodily harm!! Then there are my scarf and bag entanglements. I enjoy wearing scarfs not just the snuggly keep warm kind but the stylish lighter ones too. I also use shoulder bags and will often put my bag strap across my body so I can have both hands free – to do things like put a mask on! Well there it goes again within minutes somehow my scarf
wraps itself around the strap of my bag so when I come to remove my scarf I almost strangle myself.
There are also the very frequent jewellery entanglements. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s earrings, rings, bracelets or necklaces, boy they all want to connect with my clothes! Which gives rise to some fairly ridiculous situations with hands stuck to tops – often happens when I reach my hands behind my neck to fasten a necklace and find my bracelet has entangled itself with the back of my top – very hard to sort out when you can’t even see it!
Or sometimes it’s happened in the colder weather that a ring gets connected to the fastening of my boots or shoes. I remember once having an entire conversation with a cashier at the bank with hand stuck behind my back as something had entangled itself to the rear of my jacket! Wide sleeves I find can be particularly hazardous. I have a dressing gown, a very nice kimono style one, but I feel I take my life in my hands every time I wear it and being a dressing gown, I only wear it at home, somehow the sleeves will grab door handles or any protuberance and I find myself stopped in my tracks so then I kind of lurch backward as forward movement is arrested. Disastrous when carrying things like coffee or indeed red wine – very messy affairs I can tell you! But by far the worse entanglements involve moving vehicles – scarves or anything of a dangly nature that I now know should be avoided when riding a bike! In a car I find any scarf or sleeve manages to wrap itself around the seat belt so getting out of the car can take a considerable amount of time and makes it hard to maintain any kind of dignity while being dragged back into car by the scarf which refuses to let go of the seat belt!

Sister Act Successful siblings and leading business women Lizzie McAuley and Rebecca Church have the Midas touch when it comes to making family run business Baker Brothers Diamonds a sparkling success.
The dynamic duo successfully juggle motherhood alongside their roles as Directors of the award-winning, Bedford based business which specialises in diamonds and has prestigious partnerships with luxury brands including Rolex, Tudor, Marco Bicego and BBC’s All That Glitters judge Shaun Leane. The successful sisters grew up helping at the family jewellers and inherited their late father Kevin Coleman’s unrelenting work ethic, dedication, drive and passion for the industry. Together the talented two continue their father’s legacy which has seen the bespoke jewellers expand and evolve over the years in an ever-changing retail landscape.
Extensive expertise, years of training, an eye for detail, perfection and precision are paramount to produce a flawless diamond, facets reflected in the commercial approach adopted by the sisters steering their longestablished jewellery business to continued success. Lizzie said: “We grew up trying to build the business and have always been incredibly passionate about it. When Dad first owned Baker Brothers it was a much smaller affair
offering specific low-end gold, however his vision was all about having high class diamonds.
“Dad managed to achieve that ambition and Rebecca and I share his passion for diamonds. When Dad passed away in 2010, because Rebecca and I love the business, we knew we wanted it to carry on and thankfully Baker Brothers has continued to go from strength to strength.” In the latest development, the big-hearted business announced the launch of the Baker Brothers Community Fund, a project providing support for local charities, schools and community causes.
Lizzie said: “Launching our community fund will continue our Dad’s legacy as he did so much for children’s charities and it was always our plan to carry this on in his memory. “Baker Brothers has always contributed to a variety of community causes through a combination of donations and raffle prizes to boost fundraising efforts, but we wanted to do so much more to help. During this pandemic we’ve seen how it’s brought the community back together and highlighted how important it is to look after your community.” The business plans to provide exciting, educational experiences, support, sponsorship and

donations for community causes throughout 2021 and beyond.
Lizzie said: “People know we’re a family-run firm, their local jeweller; however it’s also nice to give something back on a personal level. Establishing the Baker Brothers Community Fund will take our ongoing local support to another level, it’s that feel good factor of giving to those in the community that need help the most.”
The sisters have also launched the KC jewellery collection in memory of their father who Lizzie has fond memories of accompanying to Antwerp where he would buy loose diamonds. Lizzie learnt how to grade them, undertaking several courses, visiting labs and was enthralled by the experience.
shop, purchasing gemstones and designer pieces from the various brands Baker Brothers stock including Fope and Georg Jensen. Together they make for a winning team. While Lizzie manages the Rolex partnership, established since 2008, Rebecca buys the watches from brands including Tag Heuer, Longines, and Raymond Weil.
Lizzie, who is also Director of Houlden Jewellers, a national buying and networking group involving high end jewellers, ensures Baker Brothers continues to build relationships with local Bedfordshire businesses. They collaborate with
Sister Rebecca specialises in the design aspect and mounts at the business, which is still situated in St Peters Street in Bedford’s oldest building. While it may be steeped in history and heritage, the business has been transformed by the ambitious sisters. Lizzie, who originally worked at Hugo Boss and as a buyer for Tesco before joining the family business, explained how well they work together.
She said: “Once I’ve sourced and handpicked the diamonds Rebecca works on all the designs to incorporate them into different pieces of jewellery. We work very well together and have done for 20 years.” Rebecca has 30 years experience working in the family business, which she joined straight from school. Like Lizzie, over the years she has acquired an array of industry qualifications and extensive expertise. Rebecca revealed how much she enjoys working with her sister.
She said: “Lizzie is my favourite person in the whole world and working with her is like working with my best friend every day. Our personalities are very different, but we have always got on and rarely disagree on anything as we have such a good understanding of each other.” Rebecca’s role also includes buying all the jewellery for the
each other with incentives to try and share customers and many local businessmen and women are also regular Baker Brothers customers. Like many retailers they have faced tough challenges during the pandemic but are proud of how the business has survived and thrived.
Lizzie concluded what drives the dedicated daughters’ determination to ensure Baker Brothers continues to grow and make its mark in the industry: “Whatever happens that Dad would be proud of what we are doing and it’s successful.” For more information contact Baker Brothers Diamonds at email@bakerbrothersdiamonds.com or Telephone: 01234 352 343 www.bakerbrothersdiamonds.com

Beetroot Curry
“Beetroot's sweet, earthy flavour is a great match with spices for a delicious Summer supper” Ingredients
14 g dried curry leaves 2 teaspoons black mustard seeds 1 teaspoon hot curry powder 2 tablespoons desiccated coconut 6 spring onions 3 cloves of garlic 5 cm piece of ginger Vegetable oil 1 kg mixed beets , (about 12 medium-sized) 250 g ripe cherry tomatoes 320 g wild rice 1 x 400 ml tin of light coconut milk 1 lemon ½ a bunch of fresh coriander , (15g) 1 lime Temper 3 cloves of garlic 1-2 fresh long red chillies 5cm piece of ginger 7g dried curry leaves
Method
Place a large pan over a medium heat. Add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, curry powder and coconut and toast for 1–2 minute or until fragrant. Tip into a food processor and blitz well. Trim the spring onions and add to the food processor. Peel and chop the garlic and ginger and add to the food processor along with the vegetable oil. Pulse until the mixture forms a paste. Peel the beetroots and chop into 2cm cubes. Place the pan back on the hob over a medium heat, add the paste and cook for a few minutes. Add the chopped beetroot. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 25 minutes or until sticky and gnarly, stirring often. Tip in the cherry tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes, before starting to break them up with the back of a wooden spoon. Meanwhile, cook the rice according to the packet instructions. After 10 minutes, or once the tomatoes have completely cooked down, stir in the coconut milk and a squeeze of lemon juice. Increase the heat and cook for 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened. Season to taste. If you want the curry a little looser, add a splash of water before serving. For the temper, place a frying pan over a medium heat and add the oil. Add all the temper ingredients and heat for 1–2 minutes, until the spices start to pop and smell aromatic. Turn off the heat and tip into a bowl lined with kitchen paper. Pick the coriander leaves and cut the lime into wedges. Serve the curry with the rice and temper, coriander leaves scattered on top and the lime wedges on the side for squeezing over. Aubergine Lasagne
This wonderful aubergine lasagne keeps it simple with a few intensely delicious flavours – it has the same vibe as a Greek moussaka, but uses pasta rather than potatoes.
Method
Ingredients
3 aubergines 3 cloves of garlic A few sprigs of fresh thyme 6 tablespoons olive oil 1 dried red chilli 2 x 400 g tins of quality plum tomatoes 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar 1 bunch of fresh basil 150 g Cheddar cheese 70 g Parmesan cheese 250 g fresh lasagne sheets Extra virgin olive oil
Preheat the oven to 200°C/400ºF/gas 6. Prick the whole aubergines all over with a fork and steam in a colander over a pan of simmering water for 30 minutes, then halve, scoop out and roughly chop the flesh. Meanwhile, peel and finely slice the garlic and pick the thyme leaves. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat, add the garlic, thyme and aubergine, then crumble over the chilli and cook for 10 minutes. Tip in the tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon, then add the balsamic vinegar. Pick in most of the basil leaves, then bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and reduced, then taste and season to perfection with sea salt and black pepper. Grate the Parmesan and half the Cheddar, roughly slicing the remaining Cheddar. To layer up, spread a layer of tomato sauce across the base of an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle lightly with grated cheese, cover with a layer of lasagne sheets, then repeat the layers twice more. Finish with a layer of sauce, sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese and dot over the slices of Cheddar. Bake at the bottom of the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden and bubbling. Pick over the remaining basil, drizzle lightly with extra virgin, then serve. Recipe from, Jamie Oliver

Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake “An easy but delicious desert that’s every chocolate lover’s dream”.
Ingredients
600g cream cheese 200g digestive biscuits 180g chocolate hazelnut spread 120g toasted & chopped hazelnuts 100g melted unsalted butter 80g icing sugar 1 tsp of vanilla extract A selection of Guylian Sea Horses
Method
Put the digestive biscuits into a food processor and start to blitz. Put the crushed digestives into a bowl then add the melted butter and stir until it starts to clump. Add half of the hazelnuts and continue mix until you have a sand-like consistency. Spoon the biscuit base mixture into a 10-inch round springform pan and press down the base using the back of a spoon then place in the fridge to chill.
Whisk the cream cheese, icing sugar and vanilla extract until fully combined and then separate into two bowls one with 400g and the other with 200g. Add the chocolate hazelnut spread to the 200g bowl of the cream cheese and beat until fully combined. Take the base out of the fridge and pour the chocolate hazelnut cream cheese mixture onto the biscuit base and smooth using the back of a spoon. Then place in the fridge to set for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, take the cheesecake out of the fridge and now finally add the vanilla cream cheese mixture on the top. Place into the fridge to chill overnight. Take the cheesecake out of the fridge and pop it out of its pan. Sprinkle the remaining chopped hazelnuts on top of the cheesecake around the edge, then place your Guylian Sea Horses on top as the finishing touch. This is best served chilled!

Fry’s Footie Corner
I think the Euros is probably what everybody needed in this country after the last 18 months that we have had to endure through the pandemic. It has brought smiles to faces and it has provided wonderful entertainment from start to finish, not to mention many shocks in the process and I am not talking about England beating Germany. Football has always brought people together but I think this year more than any other year, it has played a vital role. At the time of writing this column, I have no idea who will go on and win the tournament but at this stage, I believe football is the winner and I know my former player Jimmy Bullard has coined that phrase on Soccer AM for years, but it really is an accurate assessment.
At Peterborough United, we have been busy with our recruitment for the new Sky Bet Championship season, and we have been pleased with our business. I know the fixture release day is exciting for supporters as they look to plan their year and I personally believe the set of games we have to look forward too is brilliant. We start with a trip to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town before welcoming Wayne Rooney
and his Derby County side to the Weston Homes Stadium. I am sure, rules permitting, that will be a sell out and with West Bromwich Albion also visiting in August, it makes for a tough start.
We have a home tie in the first round of the Carabao Cup against Plymouth Argyle to look forward to in the first week of the campaign too so there is plenty of action coming your way! I have been astounded by the backing of our supporters, they have been first class throughout this period and to sell as many season tickets as we have done is testament to how loyal they are. I can’t wait for full stadiums again. It was tough playing behind closed doors, particularly when you are successful because you feel you miss out on those raw celebrations, but we know the supporters were with us, watching on their laptop screens and listening on the radio. We can’t wait to welcome you back. Enjoy the summer, whatever it holds!

Tickets to Ocean Colour Scene in Bedford Park Ocean Colour Scene are coming to Bedford as part of Bedford Park Concerts Summer Concert Series, performing live in Bedford Park on Thursday 9th September 2021 with special guests Dodgy! The Birmingham band’s story is already the stuff of legend: a rip-roaring rock’n’roll odyssey set to a backdrop of over 20 years of UK pop culture at its very best.
Ocean Colour Scene have notched up nine albums, three of which went Top 5 – 1996’s Moseley Shoals, 1997’s Marchin’ Already and 1999’s One from the Modern – and a run of nine successive Top 20 hit singles commencing with 1996’s The Riverboat Song.
They supported Oasis at their massive Knebworth shows that same year, and two years later helmed the biggest arena tour of any UK band to date. Their achievements have been nothing short of phenomenal.
From their days as Breton-shirt wearing disciples of The Stone Roses (debut single ‘Sway’) to million selling Britpop superstars (‘Marchin’ Already’ bumped Oasis’ ‘What the Story’ from the top spot in 1997) to long-term touring allies with Paul Weller, they have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the greats of modern British rock. **Tickets for Ocean Colour Scene are priced at £42.00.

Royal Ties at Hartwell House
f it’s good enough for Royalty it’s good enough for us! Hartwell House stands within 90 acres of beautiful parkland in the Vale of Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire. Owned by the National Trust and managed by Historic House Hotels this country retreat is steeped in history that stretches back to almost a thousand years and was once home to the exiled Louis XVIII of France. As you make your way down the sweeping driveway you can almost hear the horse drawn carriages of days gone by and dream you are Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice being greeted by the doorman as your carriage draws to a halt in front of the large imposing front door! Walking through the above-mentioned door into The Great Hall it is evident that the building’s architecture is as impressive as its history. Full of original Jacobean and Georgian features, with its ornate stone fireplace, intricately carved ceilings and gold framed portraits, this was just one of many rooms that took our breath away.
A staircase lined with extraordinary carved figures leads us up to our room. Tastefully decorated in traditional country house style with antique furniture, fine art and an amazing tapestry adorning the wall above the bed, it is easy to see how you can slip back into being ‘Elizabeth’ waiting for Mr. Darcy to call on you!
A visit to Hartwell House wouldn’t be complete without enjoying the pleasures of the spa, which is just 100 yards from the main house. Whether you want to lie peacefully around the Grecian inspired pool, or try out the gym, steam room, sauna or hot tub it is entirely your choice, I
opted for the lounging round the pool (it’s hard work waiting for Mr. Darcy to arrive) until it was time to be pampered just a little more with ‘The Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience’ a treatment that helps to release tension held in every part of the body, leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and re-charged, this is a luxurious treatment that certainly did what it said on the tin and left me floating along in a bubble of calm.
Dinner was served in the Soane dining room, which is styled after a room at 11 Downing Street as a tribute to John Soane, yet another example of history and elegance combined. The menu was full of tempting dishes but after much deliberation we opted for the pan seared scallops served with a mango chutney, curry sauce and seaweed cracker and the duck liver parfait with flavours of apples and toasted brioche – both dishes were impeccably presented and were infused with flavours and textures that had our taste buds wanting more. The mains consisted of pan seared fillet of monkfish served with hazelnut and lemon gnocchi, spinach and a hazelnut dressing– the monkfish melted in the mouth with the flavours of the gnocchi just divine. Roasted loin of venison was the other choice, served with King oyster mushrooms, artichoke, potato fondant and an elderberry and balsamic jus – the mushrooms and artichoke complemented the meaty venison perfectly creating an explosion of tastes on the palette. There’s always room for dessert and the ginger and treacle slice with apples and clotted cream ice cream was a real treat, as was the praline mousse with a hazelnut meringue, the perfect tastes to finish a delicious meal.

We retired to the Drawing Room for our coffee before climbing the Grand staircase to bed, getting held up along the way as we noticed yet another detail on one of the carvings.
The sun came up on another day and we enjoyed a breakfast feast of croissants, pastries, fruits, yoghurts, jams and of course a full English accompanied with freshly brewed tea and coffee. After breakfast we went for a wander round the grounds, marvelling at how magnificently grand the house looked from a distance.

Jesus, Mary & Joseph & The Wee Donkey, A Line of Duty Experience is Here
at Hastings Hotels' Grand Central Hotel Belfast Fans of Line of Duty might be missing the action from Superintendent Hastings, Detective Inspector Arnott and DI Fleming, but now we’re sucking diesel, as Hastings Hotels and McComb’s Coach Travel have created the very first tour of filming locations from the hit TV series.
The Line of Duty Overnight Experience, begins with lunch in the Grand Café in Hastings Hotels' Grand Central Hotel Belfast, before an action-packed guided tour on board a luxurious coach, taking in some of the most recognisable filming locations including the iconic Subway location, the favourite meeting point for Steve and Kate to have their secret rendezvous; ‘Pelbury House’ the headquarters of the Central Police force and ‘Hickey’s Bookmakers’ from the opening scene of series six that first made viewers suspect that DCI Davidson was a bent copper before finishing the afternoon with an AC12 cocktail or Wee Donkey mocktail in the Observatory, Ireland’s tallest cocktail bar in the Grand Central Hotel. Then it’s time to check in for a luxurious overnight stay and full Irish breakfast the following morning. Julie Hastings, like the battle, Marketing Director of
Hastings Hotels said: “Given our namesake with everyone’s favourite Superintendent, we had to be the first to launch a Line of Duty Experience. We are delighted to team up with McComb’s Coach Travel to create this unique tour which takes in some of the most exciting filming locations across Belfast City Centre, a light lunch and finishing off with Line of Duty-inspired cocktails in the Observatory. And while you may not float up the Lagan in a bubble, you will certainly enjoy the best views of Belfast and beyond.”
The tour starts at Belfast’s Grand Central Hotel in Bedford Street, which is located beside the Invest NI building - the setting for AC-12 HQ. After that, various stops across the City Centre, including ‘Pelbury House’ the headquarters of the Central Police force, provided the backdrop of Ted Hastings famous peaked-cap adjustments; ‘Kingsgate Printing Services’. The building used as a front for members of the OCG (Organised Crime Gang); the Lorry Park where Kate shot Ryan Pilkington before doing a runner with Jo Davidson in Series 6 and of course, the iconic Subway location, the favourite meeting point for Steve and Kate to have their secret rendezvous, and perhaps the most striking spot to get that LOD selfie!

There’ll be the chance to visit the sites of some of the most memorable car chases including the crash from Series 6 when DC Chloe and DI Arnott had been transporting Jimmy Lakewell from prison to AC-12 HQ to interrogate him when the police convoy was attacked by the OCG as well as the bridge where DI Fleming dramatically fired an assault rifle at a fleeing four-wheel drive, killing her dodgy partner and crime gang mole, Dot Cotton.
Other filming locations on the tour include Brentiss Prison which viewers watched prisoners being escorted to, including Detective Superintendent Jo Davidson after her arrest; Tresco Storage, the company used in Series 3 by Danny Waldron to store the decapitated head of Linus Murphy which was later discovered by Steve; and who could forget the incident in the opening episode of Series 6 that first made viewers suspect that DCI Davidson was a bent copper, when enroute to raid the address of a suspect in the murder of Gail Vella Hickies, she redirected the convoy to Hickey’s Bookmakers for what she ‘suspected’ was an armed robbery. Emma Sullivan, Theatre Director of Milton Keynes Theatre said today “We are over the moon to announce our plans for reopening this July! Our whole team have been touched by the support we've received from our community over
the past few months. We’ve seen how much live theatre has been missed in the region and can't wait to give the people of Milton Keynes some much needed entertainment in the safest way possible.”
The first show scheduled to reopen the theatre will be from loveable singer Jane McDonald on Sunday 25 July, with her much anticipated ‘Let The Light In’ tour. From there it's a summer of captivating cult hits starting with timeless musical, The Rocky Horror Show, from Monday 2 August. Local Councillor Dan Gilbert said “We’re lucky to have standout arts and cultural attractions in Milton Keynes, but it’s undoubtedly been a tough time for everyone in the sector. I know Milton Keynes Theatre and so many other venues have been working hard to ensure they’re ready to welcome us back, and as a lifelong theatre fan, I can’t wait.”
As a See It Safely approved venue, audiences can feel reassured knowing Milton Keynes Theatre will always follow the latest government advice, which at the time of opening is likely to include staggered arrival times, sanitising stations, wearing of face coverings and enhanced cleaning. Leo (23 July – 22 August) As the month begins, you may feel torn between putting in more time at work and giving yourself some quality time alone. You can find the right balance if you manage your time wisely, and if you remember to measure twice and cut once. Favourable Dates: July 3, 7, 12, 16, 21, 25 Favourable Colours: Yellow & Purple Virgo (23 August – 22 September) There may be sudden or dramatic changes with partners or close associates that will influence or even change completely your direction in this month. The trick is to not worry about where you're going in the long term so much as take the opportunities that come.
