How to Combat the Signs of Ageing

Whilst reducing wrinkles and maintaining a healthy complexion is a great ambition, nothing will make you glow from the inside out more than starting routines that will help you to avoid or reduce some of the most common ageing-related symptoms - including joint pain, poor gut and digestive health, as well as wrinkles and thinning hair.

We chatted to Hazel Walker from premium collagen supplement brand, ‘So Body Co’, who shares the top tips that women can put in place to combat the signs of ageing so they can look and feel younger.

Stay Hydrated

An easy addition to make to your daily routine, drinking at least one litre of water a day has so many different health benefits to help keep you looking andcrucially - feeling your best.

Drinking water and keeping yourself hydrated can help to stabilise blood pressure, boosts physical and mental health, keep skin looking healthy and radiant and is even proven to boost your mood – all of which can help you to maintain a happier and healthier lifestyle. Not only that but staying hydrated can also help maintain a healthy digestive system, which as you age, can bring new problems so it’s important to make sure you’re drinking enough throughout the day.

Try to avoid drinking liquids with caffeine too often, such as tea and coffee, as these are known to dehydrate and can cause issues to your digestive health. Instead, grab yourself a reusable water bottle which you can carry in your bag and keep topped up throughout the day to ensure you’re drinking enough water.

Maintain a Healthy Diet and Weight

It’s important to eat foods which are providing you with healthy nutrients and vitamins to keep you feeling your best and avoid diet-related health conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes. Try to avoid foods with saturated fats, added sugar, and sodium, and make sure you’re incorporating enough fruit and vegetables into your diet.

Additionally, making sure you’re getting enough protein is important as this helps to maintain muscle strength and also eat foods enriched with healthy fats as this will reduce blood pressure and keep your heart healthy. A good, nutritious diet will help to keep you energised, control your weight, and ultimately leave your feeling much healthier in the long run. By controlling your weight and eating well, this will also

help to keep your digestive system feeling healthy and reduce the impact on your joints and limbs.

Be Active and Exercise Regularly

Exercise has so many fantastic benefits, in particular helping with digestion, improving joint mobility, building muscle strength, as well as improving blood circulation. Whether your like to walk, swim or cycle, there are so many exercises available to keep your body moving and beat some of the physical signs of ageing which can occur. Exercise also helps to improve gut and digestion health as it helps you to control your weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

To help keep your joints moving, try functional fitness movements such as squatting or lunges as these are all exercises which can be adapted to everyday life. Lifting weights are also great for helping to build strength and can be adjusted to suit your fitness ability.

Introduce a Collagen Supplement into your Routine Collagen is an essential protein in the body which provides muscle, bone and ligament strength, contributes to healthier joints, is the building block for connective tissues, and keeps skin looking youthful and vibrant. However, as we age, the amount of collagen our body naturally produces decreases over time.

Collagen powder is the best-kept secret for combating the effects of the ageing process and can help to ensure your reaping the benefits as you get older. Collagen has so many different health benefits, including maintaining healthy hair, skin, nails, organs and muscles – however, the benefits don’t stop there as it helps to combat the overall ageing process – both internal and external.

Use SPF

Protecting your skin from UV rays is crucial in reducing the signs of ageing. Wearing sun cream or SPFcontaining skin products is one of the best and easiest ways to protect the appearance of your skin and keep it looking healthy.

Not only does it help to prevent sunburn, skin cancer, and reduce the signs of premature ageing, but it also helps to reduce wrinkles, prevent skin discolouration, and dark spots. Make sure your daily facial moisturiser has at least SPF 30 in it to keep your skin protected throughout the day. It’s important not to only wear SPF products when it’s sunny outside and instead be using it daily. This will help you maintain a much smoother and more even skin tone.

Building a Workout Capsule

All over TikTok, people are sharing their solution to slower-paced, light-impact workouts that you can do from the comfort of your very own home. And, as well simplifying our workout trends, we're also seeing a pattern for creating a cohesive and versatile wardrobe from fewer but highquality pieces that spill over into our activewear.

Amy Orchard, Activewear Buyer for M&S has shared her step-by-step guide to building a capsule workout wardrobe that’s right for you:

Think about which Sports You Love

If your workout routine consists of a 'hot girl walk' or 'cosy cardio' element, Amy suggests: “A good place to start when building out your work out wardrobe is to consider which sports you love the most. Consider the intensity level so that you can ensure the product you choose is going to provide you with the ultimate comfort and fit throughout your work out too. Think about how many workouts you complete each week too so that you can mix and match your pieces and always have fresh kit to pick from.”

Get the Foundation of your Workout Wardrobe Right

Build from your bra and really think about the fit. Try on a selection of different styles to see which feels the most supportive and comfortable. Jog on the spot, jump up and down and stretch your arms above your head to test out the comfort and support levels. Whether your workouts tend to be

high intensity or low impact, a sports bra is the foundation to every workout outfit.”

Choose a Base Colour

To add pieces that pair with your existing workout collection, choose items in similar colours to those you already have or in complementary neutrals. This will enable your workout attire to be styled together in multiple ways to build various outfits and looks. If you’re looking to start from scratch, first choose a base colour and build from there. For example, choose a base colour of navy or black and pair with colour pops and statement prints. Mix and match these pieces to create a bright and energetic look.

Four Staples to Take you Through the Seasons

Whether yoga is your go-to or you prefer weight training, there are four staples that are key to forming your workout wardrobe; Sports Bra - Gym leggings - Shorts –Workout Tops.

If you’re unsure on styles and items to add to your workout collection, make sure to take your time building your wardrobe to find what works best for you.

Think about Accessories

Complete your workout wardrobe by thinking about the finer details and accessories to enhance your workout and improve performance. Ensure you’re not caught short on important accessories such as moisture wicking socks and hair ties –essential for maximum comfort and visibility during workouts.

When I think about it, which I clearly have, it seems a bit odd that we create clever time saving or pleasurable devices yet not content with those being controlled on the device we also create remote controls for them.

Not quite sure why it seems odd to me but we have them for some things yet not others. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to go downstairs to make sure I actually did put the dishwasher on as opposed to just stacking and putting the tablet in – missing that all important step of actually turning it on so a remote would seem really useful for me.

Then there is the issue of finding said remote. Does anyone else struggle with this? We have so many similar looking remotes that I have spent ages trying to turn on the TV with a remote made for a different machine altogether – I can’t be the only one surely? But using the wrong remote sort of negates the beauty of having a remote in the first place and if one has to do some serious searching for the remote then any advantage has definitely disappeared. I love the idea that we can turn on our heating in a true remote way with apps like Hive – I mean that’s a whole new level of remote remoteness.

But in essence I do like the convenience of a remote control and it has got me thinking about how convenient it would be to have remote controls for other things. Pets being one. Our lovely little cat always seems to know when something is planned – like a trip to the vets or if we are going away so he is going to cat sitter. He takes that as his cue to disappear – the day before our most recent trip away he went out at 6am and didn’t return until 10 pm – absolutely out of

character. A remote that could bring him home – so he could ‘apparate’ Harry Potter style into the lounge and then cat basket would have been very useful.

But of course, where I think there is untapped usefulness for remote controls is with people! I have recently had the cause to block on social media and my goodness being able to just click a button and silence someone in real life would so very useful. Also, a changing channel button for people would be immensely useful you know when they get stuck on discussing religion or politics and you just need them to stop. That would be terrific wouldn’t it?

But it’s a dangerous world we may stray into – if you can stop them talking about things maybe we could also have an app to make them do things – like tidy their room or come home on time, put dirty washing in laundry basket, dirty mugs in the dishwasher and literally a thousand other useful things. Like stopping people snoring or even deciding they may like to cook or buy you flowers – but there are some sinister aspects to this too – I acknowledge that.

Perhaps the best use for a remote control in my life is for ME! Just think I could not only set the alarm to wake me up to go to the gym, I could set ME to actually get up when alarm goes off and go to the gym. The uses seem endless – in sober moments I could set myself to NOT drink too much or in thin moments to not eat chocolate – maybe there is even a setting to make sure that when dealing with irritating people you can set yourself to make sure thoughts stay as thoughts and don’t somehow leak out of my mouth and cause offence. Well it is a thought isn’t it!

Lessons in Life

Sometimes it can look as if some people have it easy in life – they have it all – wealth, happy relationships, successful careers, fulfilment and health, but the older I get the more I realise that most people do suffer from trial and tribulations of one sort or another – though they may not talk about it and indeed many others may not know.

But like anyone else they have the chance to choose how they react to those adversities and some people may become hardened and bitter while others seem to develop a softness and compassion from these tough experiences.

Many of us will have heard of Maya Angelou or even read one of her books such as ‘I know why the caged bird sings’ a book that chronicles her childhood from 3 – 16 recounting an unsettled and sometimes traumatic childhood that included rape and racism. But her story is one of recovery and triumph as Maya ends this part of her story giving birth to her son and begins to feel confident for the first time.

Keanu reeves is a well know actor and celebrity who has known considerable adversity in his life, death and illness of loved ones and many other challenges but he too has managed not to let these adversities define him but rather he has risen above them and because he is in the public eye we can all learn a bit from his story and approach to life.

Your Difficulties Don’t Define You

Some of the difficulties and challenges we face are tough but they needn’t define who we are unless we allow them to make us a victim. Many people have childhoods that are far from ideal – but they can’t be changed in retrospect so it is up to us what life we choose to create for ourselves in the present.

“Be thankful for the hard times, they can only make you stronger”

I’m not sure I can go as far as being thankful but there is no doubt that hard times can develop our character.

Money isn’t the Answer to Everything

It is easy to think that if we had more money life would be better and in lots of ways for many of us it would BUT prioritising money and making money often means we ignore other important aspects of

life and sometimes they are the ones that matter a lot more than money.

There is nothing wrong with money and financial security BUT when that becomes an overriding priority it can cause shifts in what we see as important. Money might support health but it can’t make you healthy or happy.

Life is in the moments

Over the last few years many of us have changed perspective and realised that lots of things simply can’t be taken for granted. The only thing we can really be sure about is the here and now. The idea that we ‘save’ things for later in many ways can be seen as folly! Save them for when – maybe we won’t get the chance later so if we have the chance now –just do it!

Enjoy What You Do

I’m a big believer in the fact that we create our life, or at least many aspects of it. Every day we make choices that have a bearing on how our future will be. I personally advocate doing a life audit periodically. Which areas of life are you happy with and which not so much. At that point many will say that the things they aren’t so happy with are things they can’t change but on closer inspection nearly always there are a few things you can change – if you want to - but often fear and being outside our comfort zone or fear of the unknown, prevents us. Now I’m not saying we don’t all have to do some things we aren’t wild about BUT a lot of us need to get better at saying no and somehow squeezing into our busy schedules things that make our heart sing.

Be Grateful and Kind

The thing about gratitude is that it actually helps us to – it means we focus on the good which can change our perspective and it can help us in terms of our physiology. It seems to me the world needs a lot more kindness but when we are being kind to others we also need to be kind to ourselves after all we are all in this together.

We probably all have room for a few lessons in life – and often we can look to others to get those.

Spinach, Feta & lemon Filo Pie

Ingredients

1kg frozen spinach

2 onions

2 cloves of garlic

Olive oil

1 whole nutmeg , for grating

1 lemon

100 g feta cheese

½ a bunch of fresh flat-leaf parsley , (15g)

½ a bunch of fresh dill , (15g)

200 g natural yoghurt

4 large free-range eggs

1 x 275 g pack filo pastry

10 g Cheddar cheese

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Defrost 1kg of frozen spinach and squeeze out some of the excess water.

Peel and finely slice 2 onions and 2 cloves of garlic, then fry in a large non-stick pan with 1 tablespoon of olive oil for 10 minutes, or until softened and sweet. Stir in the spinach, then add a good grating of nutmeg and finely grate over the zest of 1 lemon. Crumble in 50g of feta cheese and season to taste with sea salt and black pepper.

Pick and roughly chop ½ a bunch of fresh flat-leaf parsley (15g) and ½ a bunch of fresh dill (15g), then stir half into the spinach mixture. In a bowl, whisk the remaining 50g of feta with 200g of natural yoghurt and 4 large eggs until well mixed.

Working one at a time, lay a sheet of filo pastry on a clean worktop, brush with a little olive oil and spread with a little spinach mixture. Roll into a long sausage shape and place in a 30cm x 40cm baking dish. Repeat until all the filo (275g in total) and spinach is used up and the baking dish is filled with neat rows of filo.

Pour over the egg mixture, brush with olive oil, then finely grate over 10g of Cheddar. Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden. Scatter the remaining herbs over the top, and serve.

Recipe: Jamie Oliver

“A great combination, baked to perfection this pie is a real crowd pleaser”

Ingredients

8 spring onions

2 cloves of garlic

One-Pan Herby Green Rice & Fish

“Turn regular rice into something extraordinary and exciting with this one-pan dish that makes the perfect midweek meal”

1 bunch of fresh coriander (30g)

100 g baby spinach

1 mug of basmati rice (300g)

4 x 150g white fish fillets, such as cod, haddock, pollock

Olive oil

4 tablespoons natural yoghurt

2 teaspoons harissa

Optional ½ a fresh red chilli

1 lemon

Method

Trim 8 spring onions (put one aside for later), peel 2 cloves of garlic and pick the leaves from 1 bunch of fresh coriander (30g), reserving a few to garnish, then place in a blender.

Add 100g of baby spinach, along with 2 mugs (600ml) of water and blitz until smooth – you may need to work in batches.

Pour 1 mug of rice (300g) into a large shallow casserole pan, pour over the green sauce, mix well and cook on a high heat uncovered for 5 minutes. Give the rice a good stir, then carefully place 4 x 150g white fish fillets on top. Season to taste with sea salt and black pepper, drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and cook gently for a further 5 to 7 minutes, or until the rice is fluffy and fragrant and the fish is pearly white and flaking.

Add 4 tablespoons of natural yoghurt into a bowl, add 2 teaspoons of harissa and drizzle lightly with olive oil.

RECIPE: Jamie Oliver

Ingredients

1 litre best quality vanilla ice cream

370g Opies Cherries with Kirsch

200g cherry jam

4 medium eggs

100g caster sugar

75g self-raising flour

3 tbsp cocoa powder

Pinch of salt

2 tbsp brown sugar

Icing sugar for dusting

Black Forest Arctic Roll with Chocolate Cherry Sauce

Method

Remove ice cream from the freezer to soften slightly. Drain the cherries, reserving the liquid and keeping 50g of cherries to one side. In a bowl, stir the remaining cherries through the ice cream along with 3 tablespoons of cherry jam then pop back in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up slightly.

Lay out a large piece of grease proof paper, spoon the ice cream lengthways down the middle to create an even log shape around 22cm in length. Roll the paper around the filling and refreeze for at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight. Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C Fan / Gas 6. Line a 22cm x 33cm flat baking tray with paper, ensuring it reaches all corners.

Whisk the eggs and sugar in a bowl until thick and light. Sift then gently fold in the flour, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and the salt. Spoon the batter into the tin, smooth the top then bake for 10 -15 minutes in the middle of the oven until risen and springy to touch. Remove, leave to cool in the tin for 5 minutes then turn out onto a sheet of baking paper lightly dusted with icing sugar. Carefully pull the paper away and leave to cool.

Spread the remaining jam over the top of the sponge. Remove the ice cream from the freezer and place along the short side of the sponge. Use the paper to help roll it up to enclose the log. Place back into the freezer for another two hours. Meanwhile make the sauce. Warm 60ml reserved kirsch syrup, brown sugar and the remaining cocoa powder in a pan over a low heat. Once the sugar dissolves, turn the heat up slightly and reduce down until thickened. Leave to cool.

Dust with icing sugar, drizzle with sauce, spoon over the reserved cherries, slice thickly and serve straight away.

A Botanical Wonder

If there’s one thing that I love it’s a leisurely, traditional and quintessential Afternoon Tea experience, where you are treated to an array of savoury delights, warm homemade scones and of course divine cakes and pastries and that’s exactly why we paid a visit to Botanica the elegant tea room situated within 100 Queen’s Gate in Kensington, London.

100 Queen’s Gate was the former home of Victorian aristocrat William Henry Alexander, and has been stunningly transformed into a hotel that embraces the building’s heritage, retaining much of its original 1870s architecture.

Tea is served in Botanica, the hotel’s beautiful Victorian glass and mirrored atrium, where you can indulge in an intimate Afternoon Tea amongst the décor of cherry blossoms and lavish greeneries.

We started our afternoon in the best possible way, with a chilled glass of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee Brut. I always believe in having my afternoon tea experience with a glass of bubbles, it’s just that extra delightful indulgence.

Time for the savoury delights, all made with the finest local ingredients and include Oak smoked salmon with creamy horseradish finger sandwiches, Organic turkey breast & cranberry finger sandwiches, Burford Brown egg mayonnaise brioche and Baby cucumber, cream cheese and mint brioche, all served fresh and full of flavours to entice the tastebuds.

Scones are a paramount feature of any Afternoon Tea, and these certainly didn’t disappoint, freshly baked and still warm, a little taste of perfection.

The sweet selection was just as impressive with an array of thoughtfully designed treats that included Chocolate cherry delice, Mango & passion fruit dacquoise, Berry tartlet and a Cannolo. All were a delight on the tastebuds, but if I had to choose, my favourite was the mango & passion fruit dacquoise, the biscuit crumble literally melted in the mouth.

Not only is the Botanica Afternoon Tea a real feast for your eyes as well as your tastebuds, it’s also served in the most exquisite setting, it really is one of London’s hidden gems.

The Calendar Girls are Back!

Calendar Girls the Musical is back, bringing together a stunning cast of music, stage, and television stars, with even more laughter, more songs, and more iced buns!

The death of a much-loved husband prompts a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women's Institute to do an extraordinary thing. Blasting away all preconceptions of what it is to be in the WI, they decide to do an artistic nude calendar to raise money for charity.

But upturning preconceptions is a dangerous business and none of them expect the emotional and personal ramifications as gradually the making of the fabulous and funny calendar brings each woman unexpectedly into flowe.

The true story of the Calendar Girls launched a global phenomenon, a million copycat calendars, a recordbreaking movie, stage play and now a musical written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow which coined the term ‘craughing' – the act of crying and laughing at the same time.

With unforgettable songs, every performance continues to add to the millions already raised for charity and prove that there is no such thing as an ordinary woman.

The Calendar Girls comes to Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 17th - Saturday 21th October 2023.

La Fantaisie has arrived in Paris

arrived in Paris… La Fantaisie, by family-owned, boutique Leitmotiv Hotel Group. The hotel opened its doors in the bustling FaubourgMontmartre neighbourhood in July, in the heart of the city’s 9th arrondissement.

Tapping into the local rhythm of the area, opening out onto Rue Cadet, the hotel is not just a destination for international travellers, but a meeting place for in-the-know locals and connoisseurs of the real Paris of Parisians. Historically, the market street draws its name from 16th century gardeners, brothers Jacques and Jean, who owned the Clos Cadet and supplied the court with fruit and vegetables. Today, with its charming secret garden, La Fantaisie builds on this heritage to open a new tranquil haven where nature takes full reign.

The hotel’s 63 rooms and 10 suites were envisioned to provide a total disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the urban environment outside. Drawing on nature as the chief inspiration, the colour palette – consisting of soft greens, warm yellows, and coral touches – evokes the natural world, creating a soothing and warming environment for all that enter.

Thanks to the use of richly upholstered seats, lavish headboards, ornate walls and ceilings covered with floral wallpaper, guests are transported to a dreamlike world. Canopies, parasols, and outdoor furniture further project the warmth of the natural, verdant surrounds, beckoning visitors for a relaxing break under the Parisian skies.

La Fantaisie is under the culinary direction of the remarkable Dominique Crenn, the first and only female chef to be awarded three Michelin stars in the States. Her cuisine at La Fantaisie adopts a zero plastic and zero waste philosophy. Reviving the link between food and nature, the menu at the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Golden Poppy, offers enticing dishes designed to be shared such as line caught sea bass ceviche with pea milk and leche de tigre. Inspired by an antique garden greenhouse, Golden Poppy’s glass roof connects the restaurant to the natural world outside, creating a relaxed atmosphere synonymous with Crenn’s restaurant in San Francisco.

switch-off from urban life, La Fantaisie’s spa (opening soon) adopts a holistic approach inspired by ancient healing rituals and the curative power of underground springs. In the heart of this quiet secret sanctuary, multiple design features invite nature to flourish, including armchairs upholstered in soft green fabric and mosaics depicting sprouting plants. Selected as the hotel’s exclusive spa partner, French brand, Holidermie advocates a unique, naturally vegan approach and a pledge to effective, simple, and radiant beauty. Holidermie is committed to beautifying skin from the inside out, while contributing to both the physical and mental wellbeing of all guests.

Centred between two of the city’s most dynamic areas, Pigalle and Grands Boulevards, FaubourgMontmartre is slowly becoming the epicentre of the Parisian creative community. Guests at La Fantaisie need only step out onto Rue Cadet and they will be greeted with the scents and sounds of the 9th arrondissement’s restaurants, theatres, and boulangeries, to find something worth exploring. Visitors will be transported back in time thanks to unexpected passageways, ancient avenues, and magnificent architecture. In the 19th century, the district was a haven for emerging artists with the famous Folies Bergère theatre having played host to icons such as Charlie Chaplin and Josephine Baker. Today, culture enthusiasts can catch a film at Studio 28, the former meeting place for artists, poets and filmmakers, or get lost in a book at renowned shop, Les Arpenteurs.

Whether for a quick morning coffee and croissant or a laid-back afternoon glass of wine, the bars, boulangeries, and restaurants of FaubourgMontmartre will both deliver and delight. From household names including À la Mère de Famille, the oldest chocolatier in Paris open since 1761, to new favourites such as tapas restaurant, Déviant, foodies needn’t wander far for a memorable bite. For a unique experience, one can even venture into hidden underground taverns that exude a distinct charm of their own.

Inside, chic and cosy interiors feature a double bed, a double futon and private kitchen facilities - making it the ideal place for couple breaks, family holidays or a unique getaway with friends.

A sanctuary of well-being, Eavestone Lake invites guests to discover the perfect space to recuperate and recharge. Hidden within the woodlands, Yurtshire's glass-fronted Kirami Outdoor Sauna and Spa Treatment Yurt offers a myriad of relaxing treatments.

Saunas, which are renowned for their health benefits, assist with stress reduction, improve heart health, aid in recovery after exercise, flush toxins and improve brain health. Research has shown that the use of a sauna can induce a deeper sleep, as in addition to the release of endorphins, body temperatures that become elevated in the late evening will fall at bedtime. This slow, relaxing decline in endorphins is key to facilitating sleep – the perfect relaxation tool before heading off for a night of deep dreaming under the canopies.

Spa treatments, which take place in the unique Spa Treatment Yurt, can be pre-booked on selected days. These luxurious treatments are designed to rejuvenate the senses, and vary from a full-body Swedish massage, with your choice of pre-blended oils, to a reflexology treatment, featuring a relaxing lower leg and foot massage.

Yurtshire also offers a variety of yoga classes each week; helping guests to move, breathe and relax. Spend time unwinding in the Cosy Yoga Yurt, with the opportunity to meet other like-minded yogis while escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This summer, Eavestone Lake has been proud to welcome guests to enjoy the benefits of ice baths. Now growing in popularity, ice bathing promises a whole new level of physical and mental stimulation, giving guests an innovative and exciting opportunity to reconnect with themselves on a deeper level.

Eavestone Lake, which is tucked away within the natural landscapes. While helping guests reconnect with nature, wild swimming offers a number of positive benefits to the mind and body; including releasing endorphins, soothing muscles and increasing energy levels.

Elsewhere on-site at Yurtshire, the Fountains Luxury Meadow Yurts are situated just one mile from the worldfamous Fountains Abbey and Studley Park World Heritage Site.

Each of the fully-furnished Luxury Meadow Yurts can sleep up to four guests. They are all equipped with a private hot tub, solar power lighting, an en-suite bathroom with hot water and a wood-burning stove.

All of the yurts feature beautiful interiors that are intimate and authentic. As guests drift peacefully off to sleep, ceiling windows provide a dreamy star-gazing experience.

Of utmost importance, Yurtshire's commitment to guest wellbeing extends to the environment around us. Therefore, their 'Positive Impact Company Pledge' reflects their respect for nature, with sustainability at the heart of their ethos.

The Yurtshire Pledge first commenced when the team began planning the original site at Eavestone Lake. With an assessment of the impacts that the business could have on the environment, Yurtshire's priority is to ensure that as the business grows, the company's commitment to sustainability - and to the local community - will continue to grow with it.

Along with a pledge to plant 2,000 new trees, Yurtshire will protect, restore and reconnect the site's own varied natural habitats, while ensuring that wildlife continues to thrive. Regular nature surveys take place, for example, their spring/summer bird survey counted over 27 different bird species around Eavestone Lake alone.

This co-existence with birds is particularly wonderful, given that new research conducted by King's College London has found that 'seeing or hearing birds is associated with an improvement in mental wellbeing that can last up to eight hours'.

Believing in 'people for the future', they also pledge to provide a natural sanctuary for guests to connect and interact with nature; in the knowledge that this benefits both physical and mental well-being.
