On May 18, 2014, Delta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta officially returned to the University of California, Los Angeles campus. International President Jackie Brannon Stutts acted as the installing officer in an emotional ceremony held at the Palisades Ballroom on the UCLA campus. Two Initiation ceremonies were held in the afternoon. Members from Iota chapter at the University of Washington served as the Initiation team. Advisors and alumnae were on hand for the ceremonies welcoming our newest sisters.

An Open House was held in August giving alumnae and International visitors a glimpse of the renovated Delta Epsilon chapter house. International President Rie Gerah Hoener, Executive Director Stephannie Sack Bailey, and Fraternity Housing Corporation Managing Director Dan Duncan were on hand to thank alumnae for their dedication in maintaining the house over the years. In terms of the renovation, of particular note is a new conference room created by closing off the former telephone nook and silver closet. Additionally the bathroom on the first floor, the former Town Girls’ room on the second floor, and the patio have also been updated. Work (Continued on page 6)

Most of these events were in addition to the Alumnae Chapters’ other scheduled alumnae events, such as the Fall Tailgate, JDRF Walk, Gingerbread Tea, House of Ruth, Junior Circle events, Officer Installation, Poker Night, Del Mar Horse Races and Lighting of the Tapers/ Memorial Service. From the Foundation From the Foundation — Being There for One Another July’s International Convention in Indianapolis was a great reminder of all the things that make Alpha Gamma Delta such an amazing organization:  We are multi-generational – encouraging women of all generations to come together as sisters and work for the betterment of women  We are global – alumnae from all over the world coming together to share perspectives and insight  We are progressive – taking the lead on women’s education and advocacy  We are there for one another! The Foundation takes great pride in supporting the values, goals and philanthropic work of Alpha Gamma Delta. With the help of our alumnae, during the past year, we were able to award more than $581,000 in scholarships, grants, philanthropic support, leadership training and educational programming, all examples of Alpha Gams being there for one another in so many powerful ways. The need we see in our scholarship, SIS grant and Diabetes Education & Awareness grant applications increases every year. We hope you’ll join us in being there for our sisters this year. CONVENTION 2014 - FULL CIRCLE - INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA Indianapolis, Indiana was the setting for the 2014 International Convention. A large contingent from the Southern California area was in attendance, including collegiate members from our newly reinstalled chapters. One of the highlights of Convention was the chance to visit our new International Headquarters building and see the amazing archives room and see the

Emily Butterfield gallery. There were many opportunities to meet with sisters from other chapters to exchange ideas, meet with International Officers and VST team members to work through issues, and to learn and be inspired through guest speakers and presentations. The LAAAC, Orange County Junior Circle, and the Palm Springs Club all received recognition for their achievements over the last biennium. We cheered with pride as Delta Alpha Teri McKeever was recognized as a Distinguished Citizen. Initiation at Convention is always a special time to reconnect with our ritual as three women were welcomed into our sisterhood. We celebrated as many of our local alumnae were recognized for their service with Honors of Epsilon Pi. On the last day of Convention, our newly installed President Rie Gerah Hoehner challenged us all to look “Onward and Upward” as we go through the next biennium before meeting again in Orlando, Florida for Convention 2016.

Delta Epsilon Chapter House Update continues on the kitchen with a hope that it will be completed by yearend. The kitchen is getting a significant upgrade which in turn is requiring some structural and mechanical upgrades as well. The house is completed enough to allow the collegiate members to move in and to use the house for Recruitment. (continued from page 1)

During the Open House, the fountain was dedicated to the Delta Epsilon alumnae with a plaque unveiled by Stephannie Bailey (see picture below). Alumnae Carol Reed and Eileen Lyon were honored for their years of service maintaining the Delta Epsilon chapter house while the chapter was off campus. They were each given framed tiles matching the original tiles on the front staircase.

Alpha Gamma Delta Executive Director Pursuing New Opportunity Stephannie Sack Bailey (ZO), has left her role as Executive Director of Alpha Gamma Delta to pursue a new professional opportunity. She has accepted a position as Executive Vice President for Matrix Achievement, a global sales force effectiveness consulting firm that provides a platform of solutions including training, coaching and technology. In her six-year tenure at Alpha Gamma Delta, Stephannie has partnered with International Council to make significant strides for our Fraternity. She has helped lead the Fraternity’s focus on financial stability, membership growth, the member experience and organizational culture. During this time our Fraternity has grown its assets to the highest level in organizational history, 14 new collegiate chapters have been established and our overall membership has increased significantly. The Alpha Gamma Delta Experience member development program was established, providing a framework for our collegiate members to grow and develop as women. A new Fraternity brand was created, which encouraged all sisters to Live with Purpose and feel proud of their membership in Alpha Gamma Delta. Additionally, the Fraternity Housing Corporation was established, and under Stephannie’s leadership, has grown to 24 chapter facilities and over $24 million in assets. During this transition period, International Council has appointed Dan Duncan as Interim Executive Director to continue work on the Fraternity and FHC’s key priorities and to lead the staff throughout the transition. Dan is a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and has been part of the Alpha Gamma Delta staff leadership team for five years. Dan continues to serve as the Managing Director for Alpha Gamma Delta Property Management, LLC. We have been fortunate in the Los Angeles Area to work with Stephannie extensively as our chapters have returned to campus and our chapter houses have been renovated. Please join the LAAAC in wishing Stephannie all the best in her future career pursuits. The great news is that Stephannie is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and therefore we look forward to crossing paths again in the future!

President’s Letter (continued from page 2) chapters.” Many of you may not realize it, but the LAAAC currently is the only alumnae chapter

in Alpha Gamma Delta to support 2 collegiate chapters. Alumnae, you are AWESOME! The Alumnae Chapter Board has been working hard to plan a variety of alumnae events and activities for 2014- 2015, to help provide support and coordinate activities with our two collegiate chapters, and to promote our philanthropy and Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation involvement. If you haven’t joined in or been able to attend an alumnae event yet, don’t hesitate to join the fun! If you have an idea for a future event or activity, please contact us with your idea(s). If you want to get involved, in a big way or a small way, let me know. Even if you can’t attend an event, there are plenty of ways to help or get involved. Contact information for your Board members is included in this newsletter. At Convention 2014, the Alumnae Chapter, through the wonderful work of our Editor, Marijayne Wallace Stegman, was recognized with the alumnae chapter award for Outstanding Communications. Please take a look at our website at www.laaacalphagam.com and our Facebook page at AGD Los Angeles Area Alumnae Chapter for the latest and greatest on current and upcoming events. We would love to hear news from you about what you are doing and/or any new accomplishments or milestones in your life. Your news can be submitted via the Rosevines form in this newsletter or through the Contact form on our website. Finally, don’t forget to pay your annual support fee to the Alumnae Chapter. Your support fees are what helps the Alumnae Chapter fund our activities and support our collegiate chapters. At Convention, new International President, Rie Gerah Hoehner, stated “our goals should be to seek the best, to be our best, to reach for perfection and to achieve excellence,” and she challenged “each of us to set our sights at the highest standards and reach for those goals of excellence and to become the inspiration to those around us to do the same.” Sisters, thank you for all your hard work that contributed to the Alumnae Chapter’s success over the last biennium and for being an example for those who will follow us in the years to come. We look forward to the challenges of the 2014 -2015 year, to involve our alumnae, to support our collegians and to Live with Purpose.
