Looking to get back into the workforce after having children, Julia Longmuir saw an exciting opportunity in the wholesale supply of garden décor products. Without a background in importing and facing significant risks, Julia embraced the steep learning curves ahead and opened the doors to Alfresco Gardenware in September 2005. She has enjoyed running the successful wholesale business ever since. AGHA recently chatted with Julia about her business and the trends she is noticing in the gardenware sector.

Unique Australian Puzzles Bring Native Animals To Life As children, Coralie and Brian James both grew up with their beloved pets beside them while watching their favourite animal documentaries. They also enjoyed visiting local wildlife parks and zoos and developed a strong love of all animals and the natural environments in which they live. AGHA spoke with Coralie to discover more about their enchanting business, Animal Magic Australia.

We took the idea a step further and developed a colouring-in book, packed full of information about each animal, in order to support the educational value of both products and raise the profile of each animal.”

The business was launched by former senior buyer for the Coles Myer Group, John Doyle, who had many years’ experience travelling globally to source the most successful gift and homewares products. The popular business was founded over 25 years ago by Ray and Ellen Porter and has been led by their son Kevin Porter since 2011. Since that time, Rayell has evolved into a thriving homewares, giftware and art wholesaler. According to Kevin, Rayell’s buying team has been keeping a very close eye on current market trends. In addition to furniture, Rayell is also set to debut a broad selection of highly-trending new products in August 2021.

“This year has seen Rayell move into some larger furniture items. We trialled some rattan cabinets earlier in the year and were blown away by the response. So, we’re excited to be launching a furniture collection made up of gorgeous rattan chairs and stylish, practical rattan cabinets,” Kevin told AGHA. “We’ve expanded our artwork range to include new finishes and designs. Planters and pots are also a huge focus this year,

Connetix Tiles was officially launched in June 2019 by two families who met when their children started primary school together. According to Connetix co-founder Brea Brand, these colourful magnetic toys can help develop children’s imagination and creativity, while fostering open-ended play. Brea co-founded the company with her business partner Dave after seeing how much joy and learning the two families experienced while playing with magnetic tiles. Speaking with AGHA, Brea revealed that the pair decided to create their own version of magnetic tiles that were strong and safe, while offering clearer refractions than the current tiles on the market. “As an experienced primary school teacher, Masters qualified early childhood educator and mother to three, I am incredibly passionate about child learning and

One of the most frequent feedback comments we receive is that you can never have enough Connetix, so we find people are mostly after larger packs or interest-based expansion packs.” Brea added that Connetix Tiles highly values its relationships with stockists and works closely with its retail customer base to ensure success for all.
