As is typical with Alila’s emphasis on style and sustainability, the furniture throughout the ship is custom-made from locally sourced materials from Indonesia and will dazzle all who enter the ship’s lavish interior with their incredible attention to details and craftsmanship. Alila Purnama’s owners, fashion designer Tasya Ascobat Reza, and her husband Zamzam Reza, initially wanted to build a boat that she and her family would use themselves, but decided instead to go further and draw on Indonesia’s rich heritage to craft a product of love that everyone can enjoy. Being Indonesian themselves, they wanted to showcase their proud culture as a sort of a floating museum that will literally sail the world. Well, it’s Indonesia’s waters for now, but if all goes well and expectations are met, it’s entirely possible that bigger and better things may just be in the pipeline in the foreseeable future. The husband-and-wife team chose Alila as the operator as they felt Alila would be able to deliver better services with their high standards. The design furnishings for the luxury vessel were inspired by the many Indonesian maritime kingdoms

There, you discover that the island is overrun with fierce dragons. Real dragons! You pinch yourself on the arm to make sure you’re not dreaming, and you realize this isn’t a dream at all. In fact, tomorrow you’ll be setting sail to a no-man’s land between Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and Indonesia, to come to rest on the world’s most beautiful “Coral Triangle”: Raja Ampat, an area of mind-blowing marine biodiversity.

Welcome to Alila Purnama, a 46-metre phenomenon that’s been taking the luxury market by storm. This three-deck behemoth has been built entirely by hand in the traditional style of a Phinisi, as used by the Bugis seafarers from south Sulawesi in Indonesia, and is constructed of Indonesia-sourced teak, rattan and other locally sourced materials that meets the standards of comfort and quality of Alila Hotels and Resorts. Alila Purnama is operated by none other than the world’s award-winning luxury hotel operator Alila Hotels and Resorts, renowned for its quirky, avant-
that once ruled far and wide in this vast archipelago. There are five well-appointed cabins including one master suite onboard, all of which are located below deck and which all feature ensuite bathrooms, a writing desk and a double wardrobe. Mind you, these five en-suite cabins are bigger than some hotel rooms! The master suite features a private balcony and sundeck, as well as large, wraparound windows offering 180-degree views of the landscape. Each of the four beautiful suites paid homage to the era of their namesakes with feature artwork in old photographs and furnishings reflective of West Java (Cirebon), Madura (Sumenep), Central Java (Mataram) and Bali (Klungkung). As is typical with Alila’s hallmark however, all of the feature artworks are presented in a contemporary manifesto of the cultural influence of the era. In addition to the cabins, this luxury vessel also houses a library, a lounge equipped with comfortable sofas, a bar and an indoor dining area. It also has its own fully licensed PADI dive centre, spa therapist and plenty of space for wining, dining and relaxing while enjoying the sea breeze. An unmistakable influence

main feature Luxury cruise of the Majapahit Empire is reflected in the Lounge and Dining Area. Here the symbolic Surya Majapahit (the Sun of Majapahit) is evident in the design of the ornamental lamp above the dining table. The warm and lively decor reflects the glory of the Majapahit Kingdom with its powerful maritime influence. In the Library, its decor is influenced by the Sultanate of Ternate, the most powerful and influential among the Spice Islands of Maluku. The luxurious traditional boat was built over a period of two years, using the services of an expert boat builder who learned the trade from his father. It was built entirely by hand on Bira Beach in South Sulawesi, the last remaining sanctuary of the archipelago’s great Phinisi boat builders who can trace their lineage to the very first Bugis seafarers; their ancestors. The Alila Purnama’s craftsman built the boat with no planning at all, relying instead on memory of what his father taught him. A naval architect from Hasanuddin University in Makassar was also employed to help infuse the Phinisi with science and modernity. Renowned Surabaya-based Indonesian designer Hidajat Endramukti was also brought onboard to help design the interior and to instill a sense of place. “Luxury is all about creating a sense of place; a sense of belonging,” Hidajat explained about his interior design, “to achieve that effect I
place strong Indonesian touches throughout, such as local materials and local fabrics like the Balinese Songket and Palembang Songket, and so on. All of the accessories in the interior are also all from Indonesia, such as Wayang Bali. And then of course each of the cabins are decorated in specific Indonesian theme, such as Cirebon, Java or Bali. This all helps to instill a strong sense of place, which is important to provide a unique, memorable experience. As we know, many of Alila Purnama’s clients will be foreigners, or outsiders of the Indonesian culture. It is important that we provide this localized experience.” Hidajat’s approach undoubtedly goes hand-inhand with the hallmark of Alila’s hospitality code: providing a stylish, relaxing environments and superb hospitality that creates a unique guest experience, and reflecting the best of a contemporary lifestyle. The luxurious traditional Indonesian ship launched her maiden voyage for the first time on December 15, 2012, on a six-day sail that began in Bali and brought passengers to Raja Ampat in West Papua. A six-night expedition starts at USD 54,000++ for as many as 10 passengers. The price covers unlimited diving excursions outfitted by an onboard PADI dive center, water activities, meals and nonalcoholic beverages, and the attention of a 16-member crew (which includes a chef and a spa therapist). Through
October, the ship will sail the Flores Sea and the waters of Indonesia’s Komodo National Park, home of the world’s largest lizard species, the Komodo dragon.

bukan mimpi.

“Kemewahan adalah tentang menciptakan a sense of place,” jelasnya.

After becoming the first airline in the world to take the delivery of, and fly, the Airbus A380 super-jumbo in October 2007, Singapore Airlines continued to boldly lead the way by rolling out yet another exclusive feature that came with the A380: a brand new cabin class, the Singapore Airlines Suites. Featuring an unparalleled level of luxury in the widest seat in the sky, the Singapore Airlines Suites boasts a standalone bed that was not converted from a seat. The “class above the first class” promises to be “a class that is yours alone”, and it’s easy to see why from the moment you enter the Suites cabin. The number 78-23-35 (to be exact, it’s 35.25 inches,) seems to be the winning formula here as they are the specs for the bed length, entertainment screen size and seat width (all in inches), respectively. Designed by French luxury yacht interior designer Jean-Jacques Coste, the Suites was an industry game-changer when introduced in 2007 and still manages to trump most of its competition today with an impeccable craftsmanship and, perhaps most importantly, an elegant, incredibly attentive, if not a little psychic, award-winning flight crew. Expect to be continuously referred to by your first name, although none of them had so much as glanced at your boarding pass, and having your every whim and wish fulfilled in jolting speed.

In front of each seat, a 23-inch (58 cm) LCD TV screen is mounted on the front wall. The 78 inch (200 cm) bed is separate from the seat and folds out from the back wall, with several other components of the suite lowering to accommodate the mattress. Units in the center of the cabin can be combined to form a double bed, perfect for traveling couples. The beds are accented with hand-stitched Italian leather, trimmed in Burr Wood and topped with a plush mattress and Givenchy bedding; and can be completely sealed to form a fully encapsulated cabin by way of sliding doors and self-adjustable rollerblinds. The walls and doors extend 1.5 meters high, providing an unparalleled sense of privacy unlike any other within the industry. There is no doubt that the Singapore Airlines Suites is one of the best premium products out there. But we all know of course what truly makes the first class experience special extends beyond mere cabin designs and free-flowing caviar and throne-like seats; personalized attention plays just as important role, if not the most important, in instilling that exclusivity of the premium class. Here Singapore Airlines provides plenty of that in leaps and bounds. Welcome to the golden age of premium air travel.
