RAVELRAVE 2015, the region’s largest and most important gathering of travel industry stakeholders, proved another tremendous success. On its sixth run, TravelRave, the brainchild of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), was bigger, more ambitious and comprehensive in its scope, content and events compared to 2014. “Asia’s tourism landscape has evolved quickly and extensively since 2010. The events within TravelRave have also grown in tandem, with each component event developing to become an important pillar of their respective sectors today1,” said Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive, Singapore Tourism Board. This year, TravelRave 2015 boasted a week-long program of business events, jam-packed with engaging seminars, panel discussions involving representatives from some of the world’s most innovative brands such as Google, Alibaba and Facebook, as well as Indonesia’s most influential brands like Traveloka, Panorama and Tiket.com. In its 11th incarnation, WIT this year featured thought-provoking discussions involving some of the best and most innovative brands in the industry today. WIT assembled together influential speakers, industry veterans, investors, entrepreneurs, and marketing experts to discuss the future of Asian travel. Much-anticipated guest speakers such as Chan Park, General Manager South East Asia, for the astronomically-growing app company, Uber; Danny Kim, Analyst, Travel APAC, Google; and Julian Persaud, Regional Director, APAC, Airbnb, provided insights and interesting new views on how they see and perceive the travel and tourism industry evolving.
The CNBC Travel Business Leader Award (TBLA), held in conjunction with the TravelRave Leaders Gala, recognizes business leaders who have demonstrated leadership excellence within the travel and tourism industry. Mr. Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group (CAG), was crowned this year’s winner for his vision in transforming Changi Airport into a world-class airport. Anchoring the week was ITB Asia, one of the largest and most important travel trade shows in the world. Hundreds of exhibitors participated from the various sectors of the industry, including destinations, airlines and airports, hotels and resorts, theme parks and attractions, inbound tour operators, inbound DMCs, cruise lines, spas, venues, meeting facilities and travel technology companies were part of the mega-trade fair.
