NCBDC President’s Message I

want to take this opportunity to provide an update on the progress in our moving toward accreditation of the AIBD building designer certification program.

certified does not help you in your career, you may be correct. But I ask, how does this example affect the up-and-coming new talent? Most likely, they will need to be certified.

As of July 6, our application is in the hands of ANAB, which is the accreditation board for ANSI. The application Is in review, and God willing, we will know very soon if the last nine years of hard work are finally recognized.

Certification provides a level of commitment that I believe will be required for building departments and the code council to take us more seriously, not only now but in the future. As the government imposes more regulation on the building industry, we need to stand together to show that we take Thank you to the Council and our staff for their our craft seriously and practice with credentials continuous hard work to make this happen. If you have been in the industry for a lifetime and feel that becoming Kimberly Mockert, CPBD, AIBD, TIBD has served the NCBDC council since 2017 as an examiner, Secretary, Vice President and is the current sitting President. Kimberly has designed multiple homes for the GSABA Parade of Homes, for which she has received multiple best design awards.
