Event Report: RED RIBBON FREEDOM Date: December 1, 2008 Venue: Tagore Theatre Chief Guest: Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal Union Minister of State Finance
RED RIBBON FREEDOM was an effort by AIESEC Chandigarh to provide young students from
schools and colleges a platform where they will learn and share ideas and perspectives. It was a platform to interact with students, from all over the city, and also with prominent externals. It would lead to open the minds of the young students so that they break the stereotype views and think from different angles. The event focussed on raising awareness through education and discussion conducted by trainees and externals for 400 + youngsters. This was through declamation, poster making followed by a panel discussion. The later had a human chain formation and RED RIBBON candle lighting event in the evening. The Main Objective of the event was to involve young school going students in a multicultural event, interaction that will bring about new ideas, new perspectives and again open a new chain of thoughts. To create a truly global environment within Chandigarh in the issue of HIV/AIDS. Knowledge building on HIV/AIDS, creating a sense of belabor and a sense of contribution to society, to stimulate creativity and innovation, succession planning for initiative on HIV/AIDS and with all of this having Fun!
The event started at 10.35 with a small skit performed by students of St. Soldier’s School.
Followed by Introduction to AIESEC and AIESEC’s concept of organizing the event in Chandigarh.
At 11AM, Declamation and Poster-Making stated off simultaneously at the premises.
Poster-Making & Declamation went on for an hour till 12, after which our Chief Guest Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal arrived to address all the participants and prize distribution ceremony.
Our Chief Guest watched the participants closely and the also showed keen interest in the various talents the participants showed at the event.
The final activity at the event was the Panel Discussion. Our Panelists: 1. Yogeet Brar – Housewife 2. Dr. Jasbir – Sr. Doctor with over 8 yrs experience. 3. – Psychologist 4. Peiro – AIESEC Intern, have worked on HIV/AIDS, in India since last 10 months 5. Mr. Adhir – Senior correspondent Danik Bhaskar Chandigarh.
The panel discussion was from 12.30 to 1.20. The discussion was to bring together people from different walks of life and get their viewpoint on the issue of HIV/AIDS as HIV/AIDS does not only affect specific human beings but it’s a danger to all in society.
This brought end to the day event at Tagore Theatre.
