Local Committee President: As an LCP, my responsibility lies in guiding and assisting all Vice Presidents in their specific work environments in order to create convergences and coherence in the mission of AIESEC UA. By carefully watching over the VPs and making sure they can develop themselves in the best possible way, I am capable of making a difference for all members and other stakeholders of AIESEC Antwerp Office. History The idea behind AIESEC started in the 1930s, when representatives from schools across Europe exchanged information about various programs and schools that specialized in business and economics. Students were carrying out internships in other countries, but mostly on their own initiative, and it all came to a standstill with the onslaught of World War II. In 1948 though, delegates Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden founded AIESEC in Liège, Belgium. In 1949 already 89 students participated in the so-called "Stockholm Congress", the first of many exchange programs.

Soon AIESEC became popular: by the end of 1960 already 2,467 exchanges were reported, and 4,232 by the end of 1970. A landmark in AIESEC history was the “International Theme Program” that officially established all international, regional, and local seminars on specific topics, which in time grew to be a guideline for future AIESEC generations. In the following decades, debated topics were international trade, management education, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, innovation and corporate social responsibility. Looking for more relevance, nowadays AIESEC is the international platform for young people to explore and develop their potential. Our innovative approach to developing young people focuses on taking a proactive role, developing self-awareness and a personal vision, building networks, and developing capacity to drive change. We do this through an international platform that provides leadership & work abroad opportunities, conferences, and virtual tools to build networks.

Outgoing Exchange (OGX) Name: Barbara Van der Brempt Studies: 3 BA Applied Economic Sciences - Business administration Current Position: Vice President Outgoing Exchange AIESEC Experience: Team Leader Outgoing Exchange (2013) Motivation: I joined AIESEC because I wanted to go on an exchange. I was curious about the foreign working environment and did not want to stay in Belgium for my first job. This choice was logical after I lived and studied in Brazil for one year. But soon enough I realized that exchange was not the only thing that AIESEC had to offer. Therefore, I decided to take part in this vibrant student organization that offers leadership development possibilities both on an international and on a local university level. There is so much you can do, but it is up to you to decide what your experience will be with AIESEC. Outgoing Exchange: If you put the OGX team within a professional working environment, you can recognize various similar aspects. It is much more than HR, Marketing and Public Speaking. It is the responsibility to introduce the AIESEC platform to the right audience of students, in which they can pursue the international working experience they have always dreamed of. We offer these students 2 remunerated exchange programs: the GIP on a professional level (Global internship Program) and the GCDP on a voluntary basis (Global Community Development Program). OGX members are trained on selling and marketing skills in order to reach a broad range of students and make impact on their lives.

That is why I joined AIESEC, to develop myself on a personal and professional level and of course to meet a lot of interesting other students. It was a huge success since I met probably the most interesting students on the University campus, I got in touch with major companies, I had a chance to take up responsibilities, and I also have contact with people from all over the world. Incoming Exchange: As you probably know, with AIESEC you have the chance to do an internship abroad, but people from all over the world are also coming to AIESEC UA to do their international internship. I started my AIESEC career after studying in the United States for a year. As Business Engineer I sought to further develop my business skills, with an international touch, and therefore joined AIESEC, the premier youth-driven business organisation in the world. At AIESEC I actively contacted companies in order to develop my sales skills but most importantly I could develop my leadership skills. There is no other student organization in the world that can offer the same variety of interesting opportunities and therefore I chose AIESEC. Communications: The communications team is a brand new initiative form this year on. Our team is responsible for all internal communication channels such as member newsletters but also external communication channels such as the Unifac Post, the design of flyers and posters, etc. However, COMM is not only a back-office track since we are also in charge of organizing a splendid Stakeholders Event (a.k.a. “SHE”)at the end of another amazing AIESEC year.

With AIESEC, I can do whatever I’m interested in and get challenged to develop my skills that will later prove useful in my career. Project Management The PM Team is responsible for several events organized by AIESEC UA. That’s why PM is so diverse. We organize both the Champagne Cantus as the Job Fair, and everything in between.
