Lufthansa India “Star Chef Contest”

India is an important market for Lufthansa, as many Indian passengers travel to and from North America via the airline’s Frankfurt hub. To promote its localized food offering onboard, the airline has launched a contest for aspiring chefs on its Indian Facebook page. Called the ‘Star Chef Contest’, the aim of the contest is to find Indian main course recipes to be served in Lufthansa's First and Business class on flights between India and Germany during two months.

The winning recipe will also be featured at two restaurants of Lufthansa’s catering partner in India, The Leela Group, plus the Grand Prize winner will win a free trip to Germany to visit LSG Sky Chefs kitchen, and will get a prestigious three-month internship at one of The Leela hotels to hone his or her culinary skills.

Chefs from The Leela and LSG Sky Chefs will select the 15 best recipes, after which Lufthansa India’s Facebook fans will be able to votefor the top 8 recipes. The ‘Top 8’ entrants will then attend a live cooking contest judged by the jury at The Leela in Mumbai on 25 April 2013, with Lufthansa providing flight tickets. The contest is open only to Indian citizens who are residing in India.
