Site Analysis Access & Linkages

The Pasar Seni station is an integrated rapid transit station in Kuala Lumpur that is served by the LRT Kelana Jaya Line and the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line.

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

SHADED PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY The existing pedestrian pathway from the Pasar Seni LRT is not fully utilized by pedestrian due to the visibility of the wide paved area

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

WIDE PAVED AREA People tend to use the open paved area. The paved area is as wide as 6m to welcome people coming down from LRT via staircase or escalator

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

LACK OF SENSE OF THE SPACE The site only acts as a passage to get to their intended destination. This is due to the lack of placemaking characteristics that can give unique identity to the area.

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

LACK OF SEATING Seating makes a successful place. People will not stof if there is no well-shaded seating area provided.

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

RIVER OF LIFE They are more attached to the river, River of Life has better results in placemaking.

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

ILLEGAL PARKING There are parking area at the Central Market nearby but people prefer to park illegally on the pedestrian pavement curb to avoid parking fees BROKEN SHADING DEVICE The pedestrian pathway that was suppose to be shaded all the way to the other side of the road but it is not well maintained.

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

There are outdoor litter bin at the site.

BUT WAIT!!!!!

Site Analysis Image & Comfort

Absence of a waste bin in the internal chamber No segregation of bins according to type of waste thrown

Site Analysis Uses & Activities ●

The canopy walk is used merely as a linkage from LRT station to the streets

Several retail below Hotel Geo, e.g. sundry shop, F&B (Texas Chicken), fashion boutique

People of different age groups and gender flock the space daily

Occasionally used as informal resting spots without proper seating area

Refuge for the homeless and beggars

Underused potential spaces such as the boulevard abutting canopy walk and the deck on the side overlooking River of Life lacking any form of activities

Site Analysis Sociability ●

Presence of crowd diversity (ethnicity, gender, age, profession)

Minimal social interaction as people only traverse this linkage from LRT station to get to their respective destinations

Socialization only occurs within groups of people (e.g. families, groups of office workers, construction labourers)

Cross social interaction rarely occurs among different groups of people

No proper space provided to facilitate social interaction

Issues

Absence of continuous shaded walkway
