Chellie Cameron has recently been named the next president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.

She will be the successor to Rob Wonderling, who has led the Chamber since 2009, and is stepping down at the end of the month.

Cameron is joining the Chamber after 11 years with Philadelphia International Airport, which she has led as CEO since January 2016.

A CAREER IN AVIATION

Cameron’s next career endeavor marks a fairly significant shift.

For the better part of the past 30 years, Cameron has built her career in aviation.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Cameron enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Over her seven years in the Air Force, Cameron was stationed in Alabama, Turkey, and Washington, D.C., before becoming an active duty Captain with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA).

Her service in the Air Force was a huge catalyst for her development as a leader, and helped her transition to airport management.

In June 2011, she joined the Philadelphia International Airport as Deputy Director of Aviation, Finance and Administration. In December 2014, she was named Chief Operating Officer, before becoming the CEO in January 2016.

Each role prepared her for the next.
