The existing architecture becomes the scenography of the fashion shows or exhibitions: the arches act as the architectural backdrop to the works, surrounded by light curtains that structure the complexity of the space. The paths that are created give the possibility to expose both inside and outside the casings, giving a certain continuity highlighted by the rhythm of the curves that follow each other between arch and arch. The permanent exhibit takes place in the long corridor that crosses all the museum spaces. The arches and openings that are crossed characterize the extremely longitudinal space with a syncopated rhythm of elements that follow each other, thus fragmenting the infinite sense of the path.

BISTROT TEMPORARY EXPOSITION

BUSINESS LABS

The strong identity of the existing architecture allows to think about a strategy made of hierarchies. The industrial buildings continue to stand as the strongest elements on the area, followed by the services which define the circulation in each space, supporting the public spaces. The thirds elements are the free spaces, completely independent from the function they host, they are thought as temporary, made of curtains.

The project reflects the purpose to create a new space for the textile and fashion start ups, with the possibility to change its functional function easily. The boxes of the services define the main circulation and distribution of the open spaces for each field. The circular elements are temporary, made of curtains which can easily change the space. In the museum area, this system allows to create new spaces for expositions and scenery

for fashion events. In the offices, the curtains define the secondary functions, as the meeting room and relax areas. In the restaurant and in the public library, these elements outline dining rooms and study areas. In the way to satisfy the needs of the contemporary city, the new casings are independent from the program.

The main entrance of the area takes place through the square that overlooks the road that connects the neighbourhood park with the slaughterhouse. The access to the museum areas is recognizable thanks to the blocking of services that comes out, creating continuity between inside and outside. Public space is defined by different playground areas for children and shaded areas with orange trees. 13

THE ENTRANCE

In the way to minimize the sensation of a long continuous space, we used the tiles on the wall and on the floors as a perspective element. We tried to create the idea of a “box divided in two halfes: the first one defines the area of the tender bar, the second one follows the hallway trough the other rooms. 21

22

THE COZY ROOM

Pink elements are dedicated to all the eating areas, like the furnitures and dining rooms; green tiles define the services parts as the hallway and the staff areas in a continuity between the different rooms of the restaurant. 23

24

PATIO

The patio concept follows the idea of pic-nic tables, fixed on the floor and covered by tiles. Due to the small area, each table is for two-three people maximum. For the sunny days, or to protect from rain, a metal structure protect the patio with a movable curtain. The pink painting designs the limit with the circulation axe. 25

26

DINING ROOM

The dining room takes light from the central patio. Every step defines dining areas with 2, 4 and 6 people tables. The furnitures are shaped as architectural forms, coming out from the walls. 27
