So last weekend didn’t exactly go to plan. Hit the woodwork twice and one disallowed, but we didn’t do enough to deserve anything from the game. We’re leaking goals and need to tighten things up at the back. Stop conceding will be a good starting point, and the goals will come at the other end. Amazingly, our last league point came against today’s visitors in a 2-2 draw back in October. It would be good to end our current poor run and get something again today. Thanks for your support as usual. It is appreciated. Here’s hoping our season kick -starts from today. Cheers, Cookie

Manager’s Column
First of all I'd like to wish everyone a good afternoon and a warm welcome to St James' Park! The results of the last few weeks have been bitterly disappointing. The lads have been working hard in training and applying themselves to both technical/tactical sessions as well fitness work, which we have tried to work on as this was an area that's been lacking from the last managerial regime. However, due to the current situation the team finds itself results wise (a continuation of what had happened before we came in as a management team) confidence is low and the team I see in training isn't being transferred to match day performances. We've had a big discussion during the last training session and everyone has been asked for a massive reaction, after having done an incredibly hard fitness workout brought to the club by a professional physical training instructor. The club behind the scenes is moving in a positive direction and we need to team to follow suit. The performances of the past few games have been unacceptable and we are to hold ourselves accountable. Today we are looking forward to righting the wrongs of the last few weeks, and giving 100%
effort
and
application
as
a
bare
MINIMUM. Let's get behind the team and get our season back on track and move the remaining games into a more positive light! Adam

Club History
Alnwick Town Association Football Club was formed in 1879, and was then known as Alnwick United Services. The club was the only Association Football side between Dunbar and Newcastle. It is believed that the club played in red shirts with thin black hoops, black shorts and black socks. In 1900 the club moved to our current home, St James’ Park. The club’s name was also changed, to Alnwick United Juniors. Between this time and the beginning of the First World War, the name changed between United and Town on several occasions, and also a brief spell as Alnwick St James’s. The club competed in the North Northumberland League until 1923, moving to the East Northumberland League until 1936. The club was then renamed Alnwick Town, and would compete in the Northern Alliance until 1982, apart from 1 season in the Durham Central League in 1964-65. The 60’s and early 70’s were Alnwick Town’s golden years, winning the Northern Alliance on 7 occasions and a league and cup double 5 times. In 1982-83, Alnwick Town were admitted into the newly formed Northern League Division 2. In the 1988/89 season the club finished runners-up and were promoted to the 1st Division, the highest tier of the football pyramid they have played in to date. The club also elected the league’s first female chairman, Judith Draycott. Relegation from the Northern League 1st Division followed after 2 seasons in 1990/91. The club remained in the Northern League 2nd Division until the 2006-07 season, when failing to meet ground criteria and lack of funds resulted in relegation back to the Northern Alliance. A change in chairman, committee and management saved the club from extinction, and with the club spending 4 seasons in the Northern Alliance Premier Division, they were promoted back to the Northern League for the 2011-12 season. Whilst in the Alliance, the club won the Senior Benevolent Bowl and the Pinpoint Recruitment Cup. The club were also awarded F.A Charter Standard for the first time in their history.
Club History
The club now faces its 5th straight season in the Northern League, looking to build on the 2014-15 season points total of 50, their highest since returning from the Northern Alliance. But it was almost a different story. The 2012-13 season saw the club complete the ‘Great Escape’ on the final day of the season, which was also the club’s 1000th game in the Northern League. A 5-2 victory at St James’ Park against Washington secured Northern League status for the club. Jon Colley scored a hat-trick to complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for the club. The 2014-15 season saw the club reach the 2nd Round of the F.A Vase for the first time since the 1975-76 season. Sadly, a 4-5 defeat at home to St Helens Town in extra time ended the Wembley dream for another year. In 2015-16 we look forward to another positive year, with a new management team in place and fresh ideas for the future. Formed in 1913 the club had to wait until the 1930s for their first honours which came with five league championships and five cups. In 1955 the club made it to the First Round proper of the FA Cup for the only time, when they played Tranmere Rovers at the Welfare Ground in front of a crowd of 4,500, going down a credible 2–0, In 1964 the club was disbanded but nine years later were reformed, and quickly won three league championships. A new era in began with a merger with fellow Easington football club Easington Rangers who then were successful playing in the Houghton and District League. The club reached the fourth round of the FA Vase in the 1982–83 season after forcing Percy Main Amateurs into a replay after a 1–1 draw at home, before going down 2–0 in the replay. The club applied to join the Northern League shortly after but were initially rejected because their main stand was not finished. With the situation rectified the club was elected to that league's Second Division where they won promotion in their first season, scoring more than 100 goals and winning all of their last 9 games to claim the runners–up spot behind Newcastle Blue Star.
Opposition Info
The most recent FA Cup success came in the 1987–88 season in the third qualifying round where the club defeated Newcastle Blue Star 3–0 to progress to the fourth qualifying round, before being knocked out by now Conference National side Northwich Victoria, with the match ending 3–0. The following season Colliery stayed in the Northern League Division One and made their way to the league cup final where they were beaten by Spennymoor United. In 1988 the club reached the final of the Durham FA Challenge Cup but were beaten by Bishop Auckland at Roker Park. In the 2006–07 season the club finished eighth in the Northern Football Alliance Premier Division, with Tom Orchard their leading goalscorer with 16 goals and also with 18 assists. They switched from the Northern Football Alliance to the Wearside Football League before the 2007–08 season. The FA Vase campaign was a disappointing one for Colliery, going out in the second qualifying round to Thackley, beaten 4–1 on 22 September 2007 with a former Middlesbrough youth player scoring the goal for Easington Colliery. Following a second-place finish in 2014-15, Easington Colliery's application for promotion to the Northern League was accepted.

Match Report Alnwick Town 0-5 Billingham Town Hutchinson 10’, 46’; Connor 44’, 75’; Croker 81’ Report by Media Officer Mark Craggs
The visitors almost netted inside the first minute, Jamie Davis hit a weak shot forcing a low diving save from Luc Glasper. Billingham did open the scoring 10 minutes in, top scorer Craig Hutchinson added to his seasons tally finishing low to Glasper’s right, 1-0 to the visitors. Alnwick almost hit back three minutes later, Tony Brown’s free kick hit the bar from a ridiculously tight angle. Billingham scored again, Hutchinson beat Tom MacPherson before back heeling cleverly to Gary Redman. Andrew Lambert slotted home from the pull back but the linesman flagged for offside keeping the score to 1-0. With half an hour down Alnwick had the ball in the net, David Brown rounded keeper Shaun Scotter and rolled the ball into an empty net only for that to be disallowed for a rather controversial offside. Ex Newcastle man Jonathyn Quinn had the chance to open his Alnwick account with 37 minutes gone but shot straight at the keeper. Billingham made Alnwick pay for the missed chances, Jack Connor slid onto a pull back from Hutchinson with the ball just sneaking inside of the post on the stroke of half time. Alnwick went into the break 2-0 down. The situation worsened for the home side with just one second half minute gone, Hutchinson was again the scorer, smashing the ball into the top near corner to add a third to the lead. Quinn once again went close to pulling one back as he cut onto his right foot and hit a dipping and swerving shot. Scotter parried the ball but recovered under no challenge. The bar was once again struck by the home side just before the hour mark as Ross Gair cannoned a shot off the woodwork as Alnwick still couldn’t find the net. Kieran Hogg also tried and failed to get on the scoresheet, seeing is free kick fly just inches over the crossbar. Two goals in five minutes wiped away any hope of a comeback. For the first Daniel Maloney lobbed Glasper before Jack Connor blasted home from about a yard out to make sure the fourth was added. With 10 minutes left on the clock the rout was completed, substitute Callum Croker rounded Glasper and put the ball home to secure the 3 points for Billingham Town, 5-0 the final score. Lineup- Glasper, Robson, Hogg K, Gair, MacPherson, Lowes D, Jackson (Dixon 55’), T. Brown © (Butler 65’), D. Brown, Quinn, Riddell (Moore 65’) Subs Not Used- Willis J, Dundas
