Part Season Tickets are available to buy in time for Santa coming. Just £25 for Adults and £15 for Concessions to see all home league games after Christmas. Fantastic value for money I’m sure you’ll agree. It’s been another one of those weeks for the club. More on Jon Egen’s departure on Page 2. Steve Mullen and Bryan Murray have taken temporary charge this past week. Nice easy game for them today against promotion contenders Team Northumbria. Good record against them last season, a win and a draw. I’d settle for another 4-3 home win today...
Gift of the Editor’s Gab
Well I wasn’t expecting to be writing a page in the programme this season, as Jon provided me with comments for every game, and also bits for the website as well. The club released a brief statement regarding Jon Egen’s resignation last weekend. By the time the statement was made, rumours were already on facebook and twitter that he had left his post. As the statement said, no further comment will be made on the matter, and I won’t be making any on it here. Best of luck to Jon where ever he ends up next. So the search will begin again for our next manager. I’m sure plenty of names will be banded around in the coming days. We even received an e-mail before any advert went out regarding the post enquiring about the job. We’re a Northern League side so we will attract applications, we always do! Might even be an appointment today! I’ll be keeping this column sponsored by NU Heat, whether I write a column or a new manager. They were generous enough to sponsor the club and Jon brought them on board. It’s the least I can do and won’t drop their sponsorship because he’s departed. Cheers, Cook

Club History
Alnwick Town Association Football Club was formed in 1879, and was then known as Alnwick United Services. The club was the only Association Football side between Dunbar and Newcastle. It is believed that the club played in red shirts with thin black hoops, black shorts and black socks. In 1900 the club moved to our current home, St James’ Park. The club’s name was also changed, to Alnwick United Juniors. Between this time and the beginning of the First World War, the name changed between United and Town on several occasions, and also a brief spell as Alnwick St James’s. The club competed in the North Northumberland League until 1923, moving to the East Northumberland League until 1936. The club was then renamed Alnwick Town, and would compete in the Northern Alliance until 1982, apart from 1 season in the Durham Central League in 1964-65. The 60’s and early 70’s were Alnwick Town’s golden years, winning the Northern Alliance on 7 occasions and a league and cup double 5 times. In 1982-83, Alnwick Town were admitted into the newly formed Northern League Division 2. In the 1988/89 season the club finished runners-up and were promoted to the 1st Division, the highest tier of the football pyramid they have played in to date. The club also elected the league’s first female chairman, Judith Draycott. Relegation from the Northern League 1st Division followed after 2 seasons in 1990/91. The club remained in the Northern League 2nd Division until the 2006-07 season, when failing to meet ground criteria and lack of funds resulted in relegation back to the Northern Alliance. A change in chairman, committee and management saved the club from extinction, and with the club spending 4 seasons in the Northern Alliance Premier Division, they were promoted back to the Northern League for the 2011-12 season. Whilst in the Alliance, the club won the Senior Benevolent Bowl and the Pinpoint Recruitment Cup. The club were also awarded F.A Charter Standard for the first time in their history.
Club History
The club now faces its 5th straight season in the Northern League, looking to build on the 2014-15 season points total of 50, their highest since returning from the Northern Alliance. But it was almost a different story. The 2012-13 season saw the club complete the ‘Great Escape’ on the final day of the season, which was also the club’s 1000th game in the Northern League. A 5-2 victory at St James’ Park against Washington secured Northern League status for the club. Jon Colley scored a hat-trick to complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for the club. The 2014-15 season saw the club reach the 2nd Round of the F.A Vase for the first time since the 1975-76 season. Sadly, a 4-5 defeat at home to St Helens Town in extra time ended the Wembley dream for another year. In 2015-16 we look forward to another positive year, with a new management team in place and fresh ideas for the future. Opposition Info
Team Northumbria Football Club are an English association football team based in Newcastle upon Tyne, playing in the Northern League Division Two, having been relegated in 2012 from Division One. They are the football team of Northumbria University, and were founded in 1999 as Northumbria University F.C., until 2003 when they took up their current name. Founded in 1999 as Northumbria University F.C, they joined the Northern Football Alliance Second Division for the 1999–2000 season, finishing their inaugural year fourth out of fourteen team. Two years later in the 2001–02 season they finished runners-up, gaining promotion to Division One. They followed runners-up again a year later in the 2002–03 season, with promotion to the Northern Alliance Premier Division. They then changed their name to Team Northumbria.[1] In the Premier Division they finished second and third in their first two seasons, before being crowned Northern Alliance Champions in the 2005–06 season, gaining promotion to the Northern League Division Two, which they won in the 2011-12 season to gain promotion to the first division. In the same season, they lost 4-2 on penalties in the Northumberland Senior Cup final against Newcastle United reserves, after drawing 4-4 after extra time.

Previous Encounter
Team Northumbria 2 - 1 Alnwick Town (2012) - Courtesy of the Northumberland Gazette A CONTROVERSIAL second-half goal condemned Alnwick Town to their sixth defeat in a row – but it was a game they did not deserve to lose, writes James Willoughby. A double from Peter Watling secured maximum points for table-topping Team Northumbria. But his clincher, which came in the 65th minute, was dubious to say the least, with Alnwick players certain it was offside. One disgruntled club official described it as a contender for the most offside goal of the season. It was a harsh outcome on what proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Alnwick, who had a penalty shout turned down, an effort saved on the line and created numerous chances against their high-flying opponents. But new boss Paul Yeadon, who was in the managerial seat following the departure of Danny Olson and Rob Marshall last week, would no doubt be pleased with the performance. It was an encouraging display against league-leading Team Northumbria who have added five new players, all from professional club backgrounds, to their ranks as part of their scholarship programme. Alnwick, in contrast, recently lost the services of Dan Iredale and Paul Blakey who were transferred to Ryton & Crawcrook Albion at their own request, and instead brought in nine former club Juniors for the match. Team Northumbria broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when the ball was played through to Watling who shot past keeper Brian Brooks. But Alnwick levelled the contest on the half-hour. Chris Moffet controlled a good through-ball and kept his composure to slot home. Despite the hosts having most of the possession, Alnwick nearly took the lead just before the break when Tony Brown clipped the ball into Jon Colley but his header at the far post was saved on the line. At the other end though, Brooks had to dive at the feet of Watling to keep out Team Northumbria. After the break, Alnwick created a number of early chances – Moffet shooting wide while Keenan went close with a snapshot outside the box. Things could have got better for Alnwick when Northumbria’s centre-half Robert Story handled in the box, but the referee ignored Alnwick’s protests. To rub salt in the wound, Team Northumbria regained the lead nine minutes later. Against the run of play, Watling scored that dubious goal, to the amazement of the Alnwick players who couldn’t believe the linesman had kept his flag down. Soon after, Gary Patterson made a fine clearance to keep Alnwick in the game. Alnwick pressed for an equaliser, with Kieran Hogg going close, first shooting wide before his cross-come-shot was palmed over by home stopper Andrew Jennison, who then denied Colley from the resulting corner. But Alnwick were unable to find the equaliser they deserved and sunk to their sixth defeat in a row. Alnwick Town (v Team Northumbria): Brooks, Murray, Catlow, Moffet, Patterson, Hills (Dundas), Brown, Cockburn, Keenan (Nixon), Colley, Hogg. Subs: Hodge, Baston.
