INTRODUCTION

1.1.

BACKGROUND

The EU Regulation on monitoring, reporting and verification of CO2 emissions from maritime transport (EU 2015/757) (hereafter: EU MRV Regulation) has laid down rules for the accurate monitoring, reporting and verification of CO2 emissions and other relevant information from ships above 5,000 GT calling at EU ports.

SCOPE

A

M

P

1.2.

LE

This ship-specific Monitoring Plan (MP) has been prepared in accordance with the EU MRV Regulation and contains complete and transparent procedures adopted by the Company related to monitoring, reporting and verification of CO2 emissions from its fleet.

1.3.

DEFINITIONS

S

Company

The shipowner or any other organization or person, such as the manager or the bareboat charterer, which has assumed the responsibility for the operation of the ship from the shipowner.

Confidence level

The percentage of all possible samples that can be expected to include the true population parameter. A 95% confidence level implies that 95% of the confidence intervals would include the true population parameter.

Conservative

A set of assumptions is defined in order to ensure that no underestimation of annual emissions or over-estimation of distances or amounts of cargo carried occurs.

Distance sailed

The real distance travelled (length of the track that the ship follows according to its course over ground), from berth of the port of departure to berth of the port of arrival.

A

Other relevant info Information related to CO2 emissions from the consumption of fuels, to transport work and to the energy efficiency of ships, which enables the analysis of emission trends and the assessment of ships' performances.

Uncertainty

A parameter, associated with the result of the determination of a quantity, that characterizes the dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to the particular quantity, including the effects of systematic as well as of random factors, expressed in per cent, and describes a confidence interval around the mean value comprising 95 % of inferred values taking into account any asymmetry of the distribution of values.

S

Tons of CO2

Verification

Means the activities carried out by a verifier to assess the conformity of the documents transmitted by the Company with the requirements under the EU MRV Regulation.

Verifier

A legal entity carrying out verification activities that is accredited by a national accreditation body pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council and this Regulation.
