Our Story

Anna Schmidt founded ALSO Home in 2008 with a strong desire to create her own lifestyle homewares brand. After years of working as a Design Director for various companies and being inspired by the artisans she encountered during her travels, Anna decided to launch her own brand.

The journey started small, with the launch of alsohome.com and a mail order catalogue in May 2008. The initial collection drew influence from Japanese and Vietnamese design, incorporating the refined style and products of these cultures into everyday homewares.

However, the timing was challenging, as the recession hit just as Anna was starting her business. Despite the difficulties, she persevered and began collaborating with major retailers in the UK, creating and producing their own label ranges. With the team's collective knowledge and passion for home textiles, ALSO Home gradually became a trusted supplier for many top high street retailers.

Although working with renowned brands was fulfilling, Anna never lost sight of her original vision. She always yearned to create her own brand, and in January 2015, she decided to relaunch ALSO Home. The new website went live in October 2015, marking a fresh start for the company.

During a Trade Fair, Anna had an encounter with an old colleague that sparked a new vision. She believed it was the perfect time to expand the brand as a wholesale offering. Starting small once again with a new capsule collection, ALSO Home made its debut at Top Drawer in January 2016. Within a span of two years, the number of stockists across the UK and Europe grew exponentially, and this growth trajectory continues to this day.

ALSO Home now boasts an extensive range of soft-washed linen and cotton bed linen, cushions, bedspreads, and throws. Each season, the brand builds on its successes, continuously expanding its offerings. In addition to textiles, ALSO Home now includes furniture, rugs, handmade and handcrafted baskets, ceramics, table linen, and lacquerware, further enriching its product range.
