Depicting a sketched scene of trench warfare emphasizing both the impacts of battle and the welcomed companionship that war dogs provided. V. E. Day celebrates the acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces on May 8, 1945. The Goviers V.E. Day collection features a scene of celebration surrounded by icons of the second World War - Winston Churchill, Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery who led the D. Day landing operation, The George Cross Medal, the highest Gallantry Award , the Spitfire - the most famous plane of World War Two the Poppy, the Acorn and Lion and Crown...and of course the Union Jack which was waved at celebrations in street parties across the land - all in sumptuous rich gold and interlaced into a decorative border scattered with poppies and acorns.

As it is Merrythought’s 90th Birthday Year, we were thrilled to get an invitation to the factory in the iconic Shropshire World Heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge. Passing through the factory gates with their specially made teddy bears on the top, we were walking through 90 years of quintessential British Heritage. Our behind the scenes tour began with the mohair fabric which is specially made for Merrythought and then individually cut and hand sewn. Each Merrythought bear is jointed by hand and it was fascinating to see how they were skillfully assembled. Penny, an expert seamstress who has been with the company for 31 years, cross-stitches the back to make sure everything is secure and then hand stitches the nose and mouth, which really does give the bear it’s final personality. Penny did say to us that it can depend on her mood as to what personality the bear finally ends up with! The Merrythought bears all looked very jolly when we were there!!!

Three miles North West of Lochinver lies the glistening, pristine-white crescent-shaped sandy beach of Achmelvich Bay. The whistling wild grasses, and Hawke bit dandelions, create a viewing porthole, towards a turquoise ocean.
In Greek mythology, Ladon was the serpent-like dragon that coiled around the tree in the Garden of the Hesperides and guarded the golden apples. Claws become the roots of the apple tree and sumptuous, ripe apples tumble and fall in wild abandonment to become the substance of Moorcroft legend.

Napa Valley in California, the most famous wine region in the United States, is portrayed on this vase with swathes of grapevines A design full of clusters of succulent burgundy-red grapes dappled with light pale-red undertones.
Pier 39 has an abundance of sights, sounds and tastes to explore and is said to have more tourists visit its sidewalks and harbour than the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. Here the famous sealions within the Pier 39 marina are portrayed under Fisherman’s Wharf, with the Golden Gate Bridge on the horizon. Through the window of an old iron gate’s lattice work, sea campions with reddish-pink globular calyx erupt in a wave of fluttering dainty, white heads. The colours of blue and maroon, mimic the dramatic calyx and seascape.

The RSPB’s iconic avocet logo was designed by artist Robert Gillmor and has been the charity’s official logo since 1970. 50 years on in 2020 a pair of these extraordinary birds, together with their young feature on this classic Moorcroft vase.

OPEN EDITION The delicate pink flowers of the twinflower, found at RSPB Abernethy and RSPB Crannach, gently nods its head in the breeze on this small vase.
Mediterranean gulls are larger than the more-common black-headed gull, with an all-black head in the breeding season. Here they stand still ready to take flight at any moment.
Night herons are secretive, nocturnal birds that are rarely seen in the UK. Kerry’s design changes as the jug is turned around with a solitary night heron on each side, still clearly visible as the sun sinks below the horizon setting their wetland world alight with its last fiery rays
The acidic sandy soil on the restored heathland at RSPB Farnham Heath in Surrey is the perfect habitat for sand lizards. Here a sand lizard twists and turns as he tries to scuttle away to his burrow.
