As a commitment to the youth and energy which is symptomatic of the Austrian wine industry, today the Grubers commissioned students at an art academy in Vienna to design their labels. The “little creatures” displayed on the label represent the microorganisms that exist in the winery and vineyards, which are crucial to the winemaking process.

VIVERA Etna, Sicily, Italy / Amathus Exclusive Sicily’s vineyards are blessed with near perfect vine growing conditions. The climate is warm and dry and the vineyards benefit from coastal breezes, meaning healthy grapes and an optimum growing environment for the region's grapes. Grown high up on the slopes of Mount Etna (up to 1200m in places), the region's winemakers have found that the altitude and volcanic soils provide an ideal environment for grape growing. In 2002, the Vivera family purchased an estate in the Martinella district of Mount Etna. The winery owns 12 hectares of vineyards, which are farmed organically and planted with the native grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante. These grapes and the microclimate allows Vivera to produce elegant, spicy, mineral driven wines, which have depth and complexity.

TSELEPOS Nemea, Peloponnese, Greece / Amathus Exclusive Wine production can be found all over Greece although the scale, style and quality can vary significantly from region to region. Over the past few decades the wine scene has been changing in a big way. A new generation of winemakers has evolved coupled with greater investment in the wine industry. Vineyard acreage has been steadily decreasing as growers shift their focus towards higher quality sites. It took Giannis Tselepos 10 years to carefully observe and study Arcadian vineyards, so he could select the perfect site for his winery, which was founded on the eastern foothills of Mount Parnon. Set in 30 hectares of privately owned vineyard, the Tselepos winery fully fits the natural environment and ecosystem of the area. The average age of the estate’s vines are 50 years and altitudes of the vineyards vary from 750m to 380m. The winery is committed to promoting Peloponnesian varieties throughout the world and aims to produce distinctive wines that show the unique character of the Arcadian soils.

CÁLEM PORT Douro Valley, Portugal / Amathus Exclusive Portugal will always be known for its sweet fortified Port wine. But, when it comes to non-fortified wines, Portugal is one of the world’s true underdogs. One of Portugal’s greatest trump cards is its rich array of native grape varieties. Rather than pandering to popular demand by planting international varieties, the Portuguese have kept the faith with their white and red indigenous grapes, which represent the true character of the country’s vintners. Over the past twenty-five years, the overall quality of wine being produced in Portugal has improved dramatically thanks to increased investment, education and progressive thinking. Since releasing its first Vintage Port in 1870, Cálem has gained a reputation for being one of the Douro’s most celebrated Port producers. Located in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the Douro River, Cálem has been at the forefront of Port production in the region for over a century.
