Specifically, this manual focuses on FDA’s authority over medical devices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) required under 21 C.F.R. 820 “Quality System Regulation.” The manual includes background information related to the question of whether GMPs apply to O&P patient care facilities and why AOPA believes FDA’s GMP regulations do not apply to O&P patient care facilities. The manual also provides useful guidance on how to comply with the GMP regulation, in combination with a GMP Self-Inspection Package, FDA Compliance GMP Storyboard and a copy of the applicable regulation.
