BLACK WALLSTREET EMPIRE CULTURE AND COMMERCE

The Past: Mill tha God, CEO of Black WallStreet Empire. I would like to start off the article with a shout out to Brother Poet. I would also like to say Rest in Power to amun ra/ Larry Cameron one of the original founders of Black WallStreet Empire. I believe it’s important to articulate wins, losses, motivations and challenges. That’s what I will attempt to do with my article as well as answer questions that I commonly hear, the challenges I commonly face as well as success I commonly experience in 3 paragraphs. September 1996 I started a dark journey toward mental strength to become brilliantly independent after being the victim of a gunshot that paralyzed me from the waist down. I experienced incredible mental challenges most human beings without disabilities can’t overcome. Most people especially in the black community have preconceived thoughts that devalue anyone who uses a wheelchair. So when I get the question that I get a lot, “How do you accomplish everything you accomplish? Regardless of my situation the answer is; I’m extremely motivated from those factors. In society I learned how to successfully take Negative energy and create Positive energy within myself through motivation giving me the strength to do everything that I am going to discuss in part 2 and 3. The Present: The current focus of BWE Commercially is really community based. I have experience and a background working with Community organizations, (shout out to those organizations). While doing Community work and working with the youth I learned a valuable lesson, Good intentions have minimum effectiveness when it is underfunded. After studying PowerNomics by Dr. Claud Anderson and being in the community I realized the harsh reality that black people have absolutely no clue on how to go about gaining

Page 6

economic empowerment. PowerNomics change my life. The majority of black people, activists, working classes, street people etc., have minimum participation in essential goods being sold in their community, own no land in the community and has no money invested politically. So I patterned my business investments around selling essential products from the ground up. BWE is much bigger than just selling products to make money. When studying Dr. Claud Anderson he talks about starting businesses where black people have competitive advantages, so my investments are simple: cologne, perfume etc. Black people love to look good and smell good, I know how we like to smell and look. Many people would be ignorant to the monetary achievement that

can be occurred in the business of soap which is a essential product that is needed. When soap is sold without the overhead of store space it’s a big cash cow. Next tremendously needed in our community is Credit Restoration. Thanks to Brother Poet, when starting BWE he told me the administrative procedure process which I apply to the credit business, it became glowingly obvious the more I learned about credit and economics the more I realize how financially ignorant our community is. In a short time I helped people buy cars, houses, I have even bought cars and sold houses myself just off the education of leveraging credit. And I haven’t even reached my potential yet which will take me until the future of BWE. The Future: Group economics is the order of the day. The goal has always been to educate black people locally, nationally and internationally. But in order to achieve economic political influence, you have to accomplish economic success. Of course me not being a talker I’m about action,

so the building blocks are in place and being stepped on to achieve those accomplishments. Its important that we continue to build brand awareness amongst all of our products and services: the shea butter line, soap line, fragrance line, herbal lines, etc. But there will be tremendous effort put into private education, which Brother Poet is perfecting a private process at this time that carries the potential to have a impact on those smart enough to be involved. He also is cultivating a BWE Farm that is pretty much developed for planting. This will allow us to not only feed us, our affiliates but our community as well. African people for too long have been tricked out of their God-given rights for independence and their motivation for power. But not at BWE those motivations live over here, and are in full effect. There’s so much we have in store I can’t even speak on everything. Future investments in hemp, Real Estate as well as taking advantage of the Covid Funding opportunities to circulate money within our circle. We are carving out a strong future. It’s important to support and be aware of the Culture and Commerce pop

up shops that we put on monthly along with JJI Empire and support the website: BLACKWALLSTREETEMPIRE.COM Instagram: Blackwallstreetempire.com_7&bwe_trust

Urban Stereotype Redirecting The Rage and Creating Purpose out of Pain”

My name is Ya’Hawkquah and my son and I turned a negative situation into a powerful business idea. JeNoah was ten years old when he was racially bullied for an entire year. The bullying started out with name calling, pushing and shoving, amongst other things. He was called chocolate kid, and was told that girls didn’t like him because of his skin color. To make matters worse, the bully’s mother worked at the school. This created an unfair power imbalance and JeNoah knew it. There were several other hostile situations that occurred, but my intention was to let it all go and make it to the end of the year. However, a month before school ended, there was one final incident I couldn’t ignore. The same student who was bullying my son told him a racially derogatory joke, centered around shooting black people. At this point, I had to do something about it, so I requested a formal investigation on the matter. The duration of investigation lasted three years, but this is when things took an interesting and unexpected turn. By this time, JeNoah was thirteen years old and was being schooled from home. The case was in the final stages of preparation to be filed in federal court. Surprisingly, before the paperwork was filed, JeNoah came to me with a proposal that would change our lives forever. He said dad, I no longer want to go the route of suing the school district. He explained that he had come up with an idea that would create a positive solution for racial change. He told me his idea would combat negative stereotyping and racism in a unique and powerful way. JeNoah convinced me to stop all legal proceedings, so we could focus on his business idea. We started URBAN Stereotype, an apparel brand and movement supporting positive cultural diversity worldwide. We feel our name, URBAN Stereotype is interesting, because it

puts a positive spin to an Urban Legend or Urban Myth about race. The beauty of this concept is that our company promotes Ethnic Unity, Kindness and SelfLove. Our T-shirts and clothing display impactful messaging, promoting change. The goal is to ensure that all racial groups feel good about who they are. JeNoah also created an iconic logo for our brand. Ironically, days later I discovered an accidental, but meaningful symbolism. I noticed our logo is not just an acronym for URBAN Stereotype. I saw that the design also spelled out the word Us. The Us is extremely significant, because it signifies unity and bridges a gap to the racial divide. JeNoah is now fifteen years old and is already making a positive impact in the world. He’s won several pitch contests and he recently completed a three month entrepreneurial program, which helped us create a solid business plan for our brand. We’ve also been blessed with the support of several celebrities. We received encouraging words from anti-racism educator, Jane Elliott, and we also received an order from Cleveland’s own Josh and Maria Cribbs. I’m thankful my son came to me with his life changing business idea. He helped me to Redirect The Rage I had because he wanted to focus on the greater good. I will admit that I do believe in justice. However, I’ve realized we can’t fight hate with hate. More importantly, I’ve learned that it’s not about me, it’s not about you, it’s about Us. Learn more about Ya’Hawkquah, JeNoah and URBAN Stereotype at www.UrbanStereotype.com or on social media @ urbanstereotype BIO: Ya’Hawkquah Lee is a husband, father and entrepreneur. His passion is working side by side with his teenage son, JeNoah. Together they started URBAN Stereotype, an apparel brand and movement supporting positive ethnic diversity worldwide. They enjoy sharing their compelling story of turning a negative situation into a powerful business idea.

Accessories SO Necessary I’m Aliscia Martin, the owner of Accessories SO Necessary. I originally started this business from home as an online seller 7 years ago. Honestly it started off slow, but I was determined! It was not until years later I started to see a real profit. I took a portion of my business (shoes) to a small boutique where I was paying rent. The rent was more then what I was getting back in return. After discussions with my husband, we started searching for a place to house not only my shoes, but my purses, hat, jewelry etc. Now, here we are at Shaker Square. I enjoy how you can take one simple accessory such as a hat and change the entire look of an outfit. Whether you’re going to a business meeting, a night on the town, or a bite to eat…there are accessories that can help change the look you’re shooting for. Come check us out and find that unique piece! Located at 13206 Shaker Square (Southwest side) Cleveland, OH 44120

Legendary Greats

Dr. Patricia Bath Dr. Patricia Bath who was born November 4th 1942, invented the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment in 1986. Throughout her life she has been a trailblazer of firsts, breaking new ground for African Americans and women. Her parents Robert Bath and Gladys Bath early on taught her about the value of education, travel and more. In fact her father, a former merchant marine, was the first black motorman for the New York City subway system and her mother, a housewife, worked to ensure her children received a good education. Dr. Bath attended Hunter College, then Howard University then on to Columbia for Ophthalmology. It was while at Columbia that she discovered that African Americans were twice as likely to suffer from blindness than other patients she treated, and 8 times more likely to develop glaucoma. Her research prompted her to develop a community ophthalmology system that increased the amount of eye care given to those who couldn’t afford treatment. Continuing her education Dr. Bath was the first African American to complete a residency in ophthalmology in 1973. Two years later, she became the first female faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute. In 1976, Dr. Bath co-founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness, which established that “eyesight is a basic human right.” In 1986, Dr. Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe(laser surgery) improving treatment for cataract patients giving sight back to thousands. She patented the device in 1988, becoming the first African American female doctor to receive a special medical patent. Throughout her lifetime she had a total of 5 patents and was called “ The woman who changed the world”. In 2009 during the Obama Administration, her advocacy for the blind was recognized by President Barack Obama, who appointed her to his commission for digital accessibility for the blind. Dr. Bath stated that staying optimistic and paving the way for future generations is what helped her to overcome hurdles throughout her career. This legendary great passed away in 2019 leaving the legacy of sight to millions of people.
