MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Happy New Year
We are geared to celebrate 2024 with new beginnings!
Our newly renovated Cove has seen considerable utilization in the year 2023! We encourage you to continue to take advantage of the beautiful space for special events. The Cove lounge also features a computer workstation, massage with esthetician services, a physical therapy room, movies and games on our new 84-inch TVs, fitness classes, and dining with your friends in the new Cove dining area.
Many opportunities are available here at The Marbella, including various socials and fitness classes. We look forward to increasing social events, taking advantage of the garden patio at The Cove, the poolside grill for cookouts, the west terrace for an array of outdoor dining and themed events, etc.
Are you entertaining in your home? Let our culinary

team help with your dining experience, from light hors d’oeuvres to party trays, desserts, finger pastries, and more, as well as any beverage needs delivered to you.
Packages will continue to be delivered to your residence. If you feel under the weather, call the Front Desk Team; they will deliver your mail. Guest suites have now been updated, and all have two queen-size beds.
To highlight some of the improvements. Carpet, wallcoverings, furniture, and lighting in the residents’ common area hallways will be completed in the coming months. Housekeepers are available for in-unit cleaning. Please see Darci to schedule services. Veronica will assist with office services, FedEx, mail postage, notary, printing boarding passes, and copy services with scanning options. The Maintenance Team can help with all your in-unit needs after the first of the year. At your service!
Usefulness of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
• Electronic Health Records (EHR): AI can help streamline EHR management, making it easier for healthcare providers to access and update patient records. It also aids in data analysis for research and quality improvement.
• Natural Language Processing (NLP): NLP technology can extract and summarize information from medical records, research articles, and clinical notes. It helps clinicians stay up-to-date with the latest medical literature.
• Remote Monitoring: AI-driven wearable devices can continuously monitor a patient’s health, providing

real-time data to healthcare providers. This is particularly valuable for chronic disease management and early detection of health issues.
• Fraud Detection: AI can identify fraudulent insurance claims and billing irregularities, saving healthcare organizations significant money.
• Personalized Medicine: AI helps tailor treatment plans to an individual’s genetic and medical profile, increasing the effectiveness of treatments and reducing side effects.
• Population Health Management: AI can analyze data to identify at-risk groups and implement preventive

Meet Dick and Clair Mohn –Sandra McDaries
Dick and Clair Mohn have been married for 68 years.
Dick is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1950 and Duke University in 1954. Clair graduated from Duke in 1955.
Dick and Clair met at a football game in college and married in November 1955. On the Christmas Day after their wedding, Dick was sent to Korea as an Army Intelligence Officer for 18 months. This separation resulted in Dick and Clair cherishing being together.
When Dick returned from Korea, they moved to Lancaster. They had two children, Blair and Celia, whom they consider their proudest accomplishments. Both children graduated from Duke before going on to graduate school. Their granddaughters Bianca, Emma, and Gabrielle have grown into caring, contributing adults like their parents.
Dick took over the family milk and ice cream manufacturing plant and went to Temple University for his MBA. In 1965, he sold his dairy business and started a bottled water company utilizing his manufacturing plant, equipment, and trucks.
He grew Cloister Spring Water into the largest bottler in the mid-Atlantic. He became President of the
American Bottled Water Association. He joined it with the European Bottled Water Association and became President of the International Bottled Water Association. This led to a continuation of the couple’s love of travel, which had begun in 1958 and led to places worldwide.
During this period, Dick served on a local bank board and was asked to become Chairman. Under his leadership, Sovereign Bank expanded from a local bank to a major Northeast institution with branches from Boston to Washington, DC.
Dick and Clair rang the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange in 2011, the day Sovereign was listed.
In 1993, they bought a home in Port Royal, where they lived for 30 years before coming to Marbella in January 2023.
Clair is a third-generation Floridian from St. Petersburg. In addition to being a homemaker and raising their children, Clair ran a five-room two-story gift shop located in front of Dick’s manufacturing plant for ten years.
Active as a community volunteer, she served as President of the Junior League of Lancaster, President of the Rock Ford Foundation, on the founding board of the Community Art Gallery, a Trustee and on the Executive Committee of Linden Hall School for Girls, on the board of the Buchanan Foundation and various fundraising events for the Lancaster General Hospital.
Dick and Clair love being at The Marbella and meeting the residents and staff!

measures to improve public health.
• Robotics in Surgery: Surgical robots, often assisted by AI, can perform minimally invasive procedures with high precision. This can lead to faster recovery times and reduced patient trauma.
• Mental Health Support: AI-driven chatbots and virtual counselors can provide mental health support and therapy to individuals, addressing the growing need for mental health services.
• Patient Engagement and Education: AI can deliver personalized health education content to patients and remind them of medication schedules, appointments,
and lifestyle recommendations.
• Quality Improvement: AI can analyze healthcare data to identify areas for quality improvement, helping hospitals and clinics enhance patient care and safety.
AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by improving patient outcomes, reducing costs, and enhancing the overall quality of care. However, it’s crucial to ensure that technologies are developed and used ethically and responsibly, addressing issues such as data privacy, bias, and regulatory compliance.
If you plan on attending an event or fitness class, it is essential that you RSVP in the mail room or concierge office. Thanks!
