Welcome back! After a particularly active hurricane season, we are grateful to see so many familiar faces, along with the excitement of meeting many new residents and celebrating our resilience as a community. Our recent 1920s-themed Welcome Back Party was a fantastic way to usher in the new season, with laughter, dancing, and a sense of unity that makes Marbella truly special. As we put the stormy weather behind us, we can now look forward to sunny skies and a season filled with fun, friendship, and the joy of living in this beautiful place we all call home.

As we navigate the elevator repairs, two tables will be set up in the Art Room for the next few months. One is labeled North and the other South. This is an area where deliveries are to be placed. We will deliver floral and meds that need refrigeration immediately and assist with large or bulky items; however, if you are expecting or looking for an item, please check this area. Items from this area will be delivered later in the day to free up the elevators for residents during the day.
Book Club

Christmas on 5th Avenue South
Naples' biggest Christmas showcase is the 51st Annual 5th Avenue Christmas Walk and tree lighting ceremony with Avenue dining! Enjoy the official Christmas tree lighting on 5th Avenue South in Sugden Plaza and fantastic holiday experiences, including a living nativity by the First Church of the Nazarene, a skating rink, live music, Santa Claus, and Avenue dining. The two-day festival hours are:

Local students, ages 7-21, will perform in Opera Naples’s outreach ensemble Sing for Smiles on Tuesday, December 10, at 5:30 PM in the Barcelona Room. The youth are passionate about singing and consistently delight audiences with music from a range of genres, including selections from opera, musical theater, popular songs, and folk songs. Meet Sharon Ubben
My name is Sharon Ubben. My husband and I first came to Pelican Bay in 1986 and became Florida residents in 2004.
I was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana. My parents were born in the area and never moved. My father owned a paint business, The Rollie Williams Paint Spot, which a family relative still owns.
I spent my childhood water-skiing on the St. Joe River and my summers competing in tournaments nationwide. A highlight in my career was being invited to ski at Cypress Gardens in the women’s pyramid.
I attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and majored in English. I met my husband Tim there, but he was busy dating all the cute cheerleaders! He called me three years later, and the rest is history. We were married for 62 years.
We moved to Chicago’s North Shore. Tim
started his own investment firm, Lincoln Capital, in Chicago. I taught high school English. We have two wonderful children. Jeff lives in Healdsburg, California. He founded ValueAct Capital in San Francisco. Pamela lives in Rowayton, Connecticut. She enjoys all sports and her life. I have six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
After the children left the nest, I had a touring company (My Heart’s Desire). We toured all the antique markets. I enjoy all sports. I played tennis, golf, and paddle tennis. I now enjoy my sports on TV. In my pastime, I enjoy quilting and needlepoint.
Tim and I have a lectureship at our college, DePauw. We started this speakers series in 1986 to bring the world to DePauw. I have met Colin Powell, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Malala Yousafzai, Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Condoleezza Rice, to name a few. We have had over 120 speakers who make a difference.
I now look forward to a new chapter in my life at The Marbella with new experiences and friendships.
