November 2024: On The Boulevard

On The Boulevard

NOVEMBER 2024

October is behind us, and what a hectic month it was. Two storms made a mess of our beloved Marbella and the Naples area. There is still much work to complete our recovery efforts, but things are moving along. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

November is upon us, which brings the return of our northern neighbors and friends, cooler temperatures, and a calendar full of activities and festivities. There are Taco Tuesdays (lunch), Friday Fish Fry and Lobster Nights, and let’s not forget our Thanksgiving Buffet, to name a few. Be sure to check out the calendar of events so you can make your plans and reservations as desired.

If you have phone difficulties, please call our cell phone at the front desk. The number is 239.293.4854. It also handles dining room reservations and food delivery as needed.

WELCOME

BACK PARTY

I hope everyone has been able to stop by and say hello to Rob, our newest Marbella staff member and Assistant Manager. We are both on the same page—looking out for the best interests of the residents and the building. It has been such a pleasure having Rob’s professionalism.

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate this month; ten residents’ birthdays, nine staff birthdays, and six staff anniversaries are listed on page 7 of your newsletter.

As always, I will do my best to have an opendoor policy, and I look forward to seeing and celebrating with you all as we embark on our newest chapter of The Marbella.

At Your Service, Michelle 239.593.2302

Mark your calendars for our Roaring Twenties-themed party on Thursday, November 7, from 5:30-8:30 PM. It will include an outdoor buffet on the West Deck with entertainment by Aace DJ. Dress to impress. RSVP in the mail room.

THE MORE YOU KNOW

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff who stayed through Hurricane Milton, securing the building, serving meals, and communicating with residents during a very difficult time. We are grateful for their dedication to The Marbella family. This photo was taken before Milton arrived. Thanks again to all!

–Fred Luconi, Board of Directors President

KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS

Meet Ted & Marjorie Ellis

Edward (Ted) was born in Egypt. His father was British, and his mother was French. At age nine, he attended boarding schools in Switzerland and England and graduated from the University of England. He studied chemical engineering at The University of Manchester Upon graduation, he integrated into the United States. Ted worked for an oil company in Oklahoma and moved to Baltimore.

Making Reservations For A Guest Suite

It’s the perfect time for your family to visit you in sunny Florida! The guest suites have recently been updated; each room has queen-sized beds and comfortably sleeps four people.

The rate to stay in a Marbella guest suite is less expensive than a local hotel this time of the year. Nightly rates are $135 plus tax (November 1-April 30) and $95 plus tax (May 1-October 31).

Guests must register and pick up keys at The Marbella front desk after 3:00 PM. A registration form will be available at check-in. The guest’s name, address, telephone number, estimated arrival time, and vehicle information will be requested. We request that guests check out by 11:00 AM so the room can be ready for the next guest. Your guests may keep their luggage at the front desk/concierge area between check-out and actual departure.

Conservatory of Music. Marjorie studied psychology and music in college. She is certified as an elementary school teacher and taught 4th grade.

Ted met Marjorie (the love of his life), got engaged, and happily married ever after. They have seven wonderful children and 14 grandchildren who live on the East Coast. Their three daughters helped them move in, and about 30 relatives arrived to enjoy the beautiful Marbella.

They still travel back and forth to visit relatives in Europe. For about 48 years, they lived in Martinsville, New Jersey, and now in Naples (tropical paradise). Starting in 2010, they became snowbirds and, in 2016, full-timers.

Ted’s father was in the British Army and fought in the North African war El-Alamein (famous battle), where Rommel was defeated.

If the guest suites are already booked for the time of your request, we would be happy to extend The Marbella resident discount for a room at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Naples.

Please make all reservations with Michelle or the front desk.
