Everything We Didn’t Say by Nicole Baart

“Everything We Didn’t Say” By Nicole Baart is a suspense novel that forces the main character to confront many issues with her family secrets when her brother was a prime suspect in a brutal crime. Despite being unwilling to reconnect with her past, she must come face-to-face with what she ran away from long ago.

How to Find a Fox by Nilah Magruder

This is a story of a determined little girl who sets o on an adventure to nd a red fox. The little girl crosses many obstacles, and she tries lots of di erent ways to nd the very sneaky fox. The reader will learn the importance of never giving up and how sometimes what you are searching for is a lot closer than you might think.

The Last Cuentista by Donna

The story follows Petra Peña who leaves Earth to continue the human race after a comet strikes the planet. Empowered with dear memories of her Abuelita and her cuentos, Petra realizes she must use storytelling to keep her people's history alive. This book reminds us to honor the stories of the past, the ones we’re living, and the ones yet waiting to be told.

This collection of poetry is timeless in its brave, feminist, and immodest approach at unveiling some of the intricacies of what it is like to be a woman in this world. Cisneros is candid and moody but her writing style really pulls you in. It's a very approachable collection of poems that I pick up often, especially when I need a reminder to be unafraid and authentic.

Anaheim's public showcase of local artists

Center Gallery

The Center Gallery is a hidden gem within the Downtown Anaheim Art District. This art gem is located within the beautiful Downtown Anaheim Community Center at 250 E. Center Street. The Gallery highlights the talents of selected visual artists and features mixed media and community-friendly works of art throughout the year.

The Gallery is operated by the Community Services Department’s Cultural Arts team and collaborates with the Anaheim Cultural & Heritage Commission in the selection process for potential artists to display their visual arts. Viewing is free to the public and is open year-round, Monday-Saturday 8:00 am-9:00 pm and on Sundays from 8:00 am-7:00 pm.

Current Show

Currently, the Center Gallery is featuring the works of a talented artist Kyung Hee Kim (Kathy). Kathy is inspired by the natural world, such as mountains, seas, trees, and waves, and these elements inspire her approach and practice. Through abstraction, her artwork depicts the Infinite Flow of layered emotions, energies, and memories. As you can see in her collection, Kathy’s creations center on lyrical brushstrokes and transparent layers of colors.

Call for Artists

Interested artists who would like to be considered for an exhibit in the Center Gallery in 2023/24 may apply online at www.anaheim.net/centergallery, or applications can be downloaded for easy mail-in. All forms of media are welcome and group exhibits are acceptable. For more information, please call Denise Durkin at (714) 765-4422.
