AnaheimLibrary POWER of THE LIBRARY AWARD INTERNATIONAL WINNER Another year, another outstanding award! Anaheim Public Library received the international 'Power of the Libraries' award. This international award presented by SirsiDynix recognizes libraries for their exceptional and innovative programs that impact their communities. Anaheim Public Library was selected for developing a foster care initiative that began with increasing access to educational resources for foster youth. We're the first in Orange County to remove the guardian consent requirement and offer tailored library cards to foster care youth. The foster youth library card is available for those 18 and younger living in the foster care system, a group home, temporary living situation, in homelessness, or without proof of address. Youth can check out up to five items and not accrue overdue fines. This is one way Anaheim provides greater access to existing library services for youth. Residents can support foster youth by donating to the Friends of the Anaheim Public Library and upgrading their library card to the "We're Here For You" card design. The donations are given to the nonprofit Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County (CASA OC), which serves foster care youth. Visit your neighborhood branch to upgrade your library card and tell your friends, family, and neighbors about our tailored library card for foster care youth. The library card design is vibrant and highlights some of the most spoken languages in Anaheim, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Arabic. This is Anaheim Public Library's first time receiving the national award.

Meet Anaheim’s Newest Poet Laureate Wendy Van Camp “I am humbled, astonished, and honored to be selected as Anaheim’s second poet laureate. As a speculative poet, I am an advocate for STEAM education, the use of poetry to inspire a sense of stewardship for the Earth, and as the inspiration to leap to the stars. Anaheim is more than a home for giant theme parks and sporting arenas, it is a place of innovation and discovery among its diverse people.”

Forever Courtside Sculpture

Brian Peterson

"As an artist that has focused my life on honing my craft, it is moments like this that I have dreamed of - partnering with amazing organizations, cities, and communities. The Forever Courtside Sculpture honors Kobe and Giana Bryant's legacy and what they mean to basketball and sports. This project reinforced my Mamba Mentality as I overcame challenges to see the final result before you. Forever grateful to work with Vanessa Bryant ,The Mambacita Foundation, and The Nancy Lieberman Foundation on this project for Pearson Park, Anaheim. May Kobe and Gigi's legacy live on forever."

In the summer of 1935, Ruth, an aspiring writer, and Eileen, an actress and dancer, leave rural Ohio to seek success in the big city. Due to their limited budget, the sisters wind up sharing a less-than ideal basement apartment in Greenwich Village. Together and individually, they pursue their dreams, overcome heartbreak, encounter a motley assortment of colorful characters, and ultimately find love. The Tony Award-winning Best Musical features a thrilling score by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Comden & Green.
